    Hands down the best tech videos I've seen. I looked up your impact driver, that's a weapon!! And pretty dear if it's what I think. I'm buying a 100 series after owning a 60 series for 12 years, ready for some new challenges and your videos are inspiring. Keep up the awesome work

      You're probably referring to the Matco impact. I'm actually planning to swap it for a Milwaukee. The Milwaukee has more oomph and is lighter (and cheaper)

    Nice video, mate. This helped me a lot. You got lucky with your carrier bearing shims, I had to get custom ones made to get the correct backlash and pre-load.
    I think a lot of shops wouldn't spend the time to set these up correctly.

    How much should a 4.88 rear gear on my 2001 land cruiser cost? I already have A.R.B front & rear lockers, but was driving the other day and my front diff blew. I Also just upgraded to 35" tires so figured a rear gear is needed anyhow.

      I haven't yet had a call to adjust valves on a 4.7. I've spot checked a few while changing valve cover gaskets and they've been within spec. It's pretty much the same procedure as the 1fz engine I did a video on. czcams.com/video/GpouBL0wSE4/video.html

  • @Digital_Dairy

    Is this diff as weak as they claim? I understand the arb carrier will stouten things up, or swapping for the 4 pinion style. I hear a lot of horror stories of these shearing teeth after some wheelspin to traction scenarios.
    Also, this diff is a different one then the 8" clamshell diff used in the 2003 and up taco, 4 runner and 2005 and up fj cruiser? Those seem to be quite stout. Marlin crawler runs 40"s on their IFS taco with rcv shafts, I believe.
    Thanks for your input

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  Před 3 lety +1

      I've heard of them breaking but haven't seen one break in person. Yes it is a different diff than the clamshell. Lockers should help strengthen the spiders, how much I don't know.

  • @Filip-nn7rr
    @Filip-nn7rr Před 3 lety

    I noticed that you set the backlash on value 0.008, but the Land Cruiser manual says that the backlash should be set between 0.013-0.018, so why did you set it like that?

    • @OTRAMM

    Do you think the ATRAC is adequate, or are lockers just that much better?

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  Před 4 lety +1

      I haven't really seen ATRAC used a ton. From what I have seen it's been impressive. It all depends on your usage I think. For most folks I'd think ATRAC would be fine on it's own. Soupy deep mud or lots of rock crawling with tires lifting and I'd lean towards lockers.

    When you install a lockers for landcruiser 100 do the center differential actuator still be needed?

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The center lock is a completely separate system. You still need it to have true 4 wheel drive.

      Ok thank you, Because My center diff, is not engaging especially when I shift it to 2lo. I don’t know the problem? They said put a locker that will resolve the problem. What do you think should I do?

    • @OTRAMM
      @OTRAMM  Před 8 měsíci

      @@albertrosales6515 you'll have to troubleshoot why the center isn't locking. It can be several issues.

    • @illustriouslaz
      @illustriouslaz Před 8 měsíci

      @@albertrosales6515 Does your center diff engage when you hit the button? Normally the truck will lock the center diff when you go into 4Lo but there is a bypass (7-Pin I think its called) that you can do to make the CDL and 4Lo be independent of each other. If your center diff locks with the button its possible that a previous owner has done the bypass.
