    • @BaikeiOrg
      @BaikeiOrg  Před 5 lety

      Calligraphy inks are water based so you can wash in the sink under cold water.. it will not stain anything. Horse hair is quite stiff and usually used only for large brushes. If you are using smaller sizes (writing A4 size roughly) better to use something softer such as sheep, rabbit, weasel, etc.. a blend of 2 or 3 hair types is common

      Hi Sneha, thanks for watching and thanks for your interest in the online classes.
      The online course is geared for beginner students dedicated to self study. When signing up Seisho provides students with printable study materials in PDF form which Baikei has written. This includes worksheets corresponding to the school’s CZcams videos.
      Depending on the frequency of practice, there are 4 options to choose from. Students send in photos of their best work to be examined. Seisho will then correct your mistakes by writing in orange ink on your work and give tips (in Japanese and/or simple English) to help you to improve your writing.
      Though it is not officially included as part of the course, if students are having difficulty writing, Baikei sensei sometimes films himself correcting students’ works and sends to them. Calligraphy is mostly visual so photos and video prove to be most useful for learning.
      We hope that helps to explain the system a bit more clearly. Please let us know any other thoughts or concerns you may have about the online school. Here are links to the current online course (which is a bit different) in Japanese and English.
      www.sei-sho.jp/netcourse/index.html
      baikei.org/onlinecourse_en.html
      We expect to to have the English version of the newly designed beginner course ready very soon. I am always available to help answer any questions you may have.
      Best,
      Raikei

      @@BaikeiOrg I'm looking for a place online to buy supplies from, ideally. Because of the pandemic and the risks of going in person to unnecessary places that would be for the best. Location won't be a barrier for buying online anyway. Amazon has some options but based on the reviews (specifically considering the inks) I have mixed feelings on it and am not sure what to buy. If there are any specific shops (even in Japan as there are proxy services that will allow to buy overseas) it would be helpful if someone can recommend it. Thanks

    • @BaikeiOrg
      @BaikeiOrg  Před 3 lety +1

      It depends on where you live. Japan has restricted International delivered to certain countries due to the pandemic. We ship supplies overseas but because of Coronavirus oh, they're not allowing tracking on international shipping too much of Europe and USA. You're correct, most items on Amazon are not high quality but they would be good enough for practice

      @@BaikeiOrg I'm a total beginner so anything that is suitable for practice would be fine for now. Should you typically open a window or be in a space with good ventilation when using certain ink ? As I mentioned before, my biggest concern is the smell of the ink as I am very sensitive. In addition, I fear that lower quality products will have a higher potential of being difficult to use therefore making the learning process a little more cumbersome... If there are any recommended products can you please mention them ? I'll do my best to look for them... even asking a friend in Japan to retrieve them for me if possible (assuming the products would be located in a store in Japan ) thanks for your help...

    • @BaikeiOrg
      @BaikeiOrg  Před 9 měsíci +1

      could be one or a few things: the brush (email a photo to info@baikei.org if you like), not enough ink on the brush, not bouncing enough to let the round part o the brush to touch the paper

    • @KRYoung_dev
      @KRYoung_dev Před 9 měsíci

      I see, I will try different brushes and try to bounce them. I am using plain water on a special reusable kind of paper, where water appears black and then disappears after the paper dries. I didn't want to waste many sheets of paper when I am just beginning. Maybe this is the reason why, though. Sometimes the raindrops do come out the right shape, so maybe it is just my technique. I will keep practicing! Thank you so much for the reply!
