When I was growing up, we had this exact same model! Same color and everything! Maybe about 7 years ago it had to be thrown out. This hose had split on the machine, and replacing the hose wasn’t something I knew how to do back then! And at that point it only got used to clean carpets. But the reason it got thrown out was I tried taking the clear nozzle off the front, to clean, didn’t realize the screws on the bottom of the machine were holding it in and cracked the plastic. It then no longer sucked up water anymore! That was when it was time to say goodbye to that machine. Now I use a bissell revolution pet pro carpet cleaner, and that machine cleans so much better than the Hoover I think.
My goodness these have left a legacy! I remember along with other people probably when Hoover went crazy with the Spin Scrub brushes in the 2000s. Fantastic job!
We used to have one of these it was from our great grandma sadly it died last year 😪. Now we have the Hoover smart wash and that isn’t to bad of a carpet cleaner. Ours had been used throughout the whole entire family to until we had it.
I am wondering how to switch from Floor to Tools suction. It switches automatically when you drop the handle release. If the tool handle is still sucking air there is an issue....either blockage or breakage of the gate that switches between the different functions. I am not sure where that is.
I’ve actually never had that problem before there might be something broken inside if you can I would take it to a vacuum shop to have them take a look at it
Hi, I bought my Hoover Steam ac Ultra in 1999. The other day, I was in the process of putting it back together to store, since everything was dry. I dropped the Recovery Tank. All the parts separated: handle, hinges on either side. From what I can tell, it will still work just fine, but I’m having trouble knowing which hinge goes on what side of the tank. Is there any way you can show me up close how they’re attached? Thank you so much!
Hello 😊. I’m so glad I found you! I have a Hoover SteamVac Spin Scrub from 2007 if I’m right?! For years while I was actively working I would simply have someone come in to clean my heavily traveled areas, which I no longer do. I have pulled this old tool out of my closet, followed the instructions as closely as I can yet I have a couple of issues I can’t seem to sort out. When the tools are not being used does the hose simply hang or must it be connected to something on the machine? I have read my instruction booklet and can’t seem to find an indication for an answer to this. Also I can’t disconnect the hose from the insert area used for when the hose is attached to a tool. My Hoover is in good shape as I have stored it in a closet. Can’t seem to find much in the way of instructions online which is why I was thrilled to find you! Reply would be VERY WELCOME!
If you are talking about the hose hanging part of the hose should be wrapped around the bottom hook and unfortunately you can’t detach the hose from the cleaner it always should be attached to the machine
@@richardbilot608 Nice! I currently am building my collection back as I got out of collecting and sold like 25% of my vacuums. I have this very old 1970 Hoover and it's in mint condition
Hoover Steamvac: deep cleans forward and reverse
RugDoctor: and I took that personally.
Beautiful video, Rich. Love your videos.

I have the same exact model and color as you do. I just recently cleaned it out. These will last a lifetime if you take care of them.
I love that carpet cleaner from the 90s
Im still using this model to this day, other than the hand tool tube plastic cracking (i used duck tape as temp solution) it works great
I love hoover steamvacs

I got mine from my dad it was barely used. But I do not have the instructions. It's like brand new but it is dirty I would like to clean it up.

I was mistaken. Mine is the Deluxe not the Ultra. Just looked.
I saw your TikTok on this
I remember it was made in 1997
Wow, I just sold my 1990 Hoover Steamvac. Question, what kind of vacuums do you collect?
I mostly have upright vacuums bagged and bagless

@Ryli Hoover steam vac debuted in 1994 so yours wouldn't be from 1990.
I have a steamvac silver
It was made from 1997
