    Every super duty I've ever owned has had the "Yonk Button" in fact with my quad cab 8" bed 350 I used to plow in 2wheel drive with the Yonk button engaged With 2,500 pounds of gear in the back I had no traction problems.

    My 2010 FX4 has that Diff Lock. It's my understanding that at the time, the FX4's, Harley's, and Lariats were equipped with this feature. If you do NOT have this feature, Ford is really good about running wiring harnesses for things that are not optioned - so I can buy components and activate features. An example of this is the Integrated Trailer Brake. My 2010 didn't come with it as an option, but it was pre-wired. I bought the IBCM online, installed it and had my local dealer "flash" my ECM. Boom, trailer brake controller in 30 minutes.

    The nice thing about the axle lock is that if you get stuck in 2wd, try getting out with the locker BEFORE going to 4wd. If you go into nasty stuff already in 4wd, you have no backup to get yourself out. Also, the locker automatically unlocks at 20mph.

    On my 2016 F150 that is an Electronic Lock Rear Axle. It only locks the rear axle, not the front. Because the Differential is locked, turning is difficult but traction is great increased.

    My f150’s I’ve had over the years, recently a 19 and now a 23 both had the secret button. The 19 had the little eco boost v6 and the 23 has the big v6. The slippery setting actually helps a great bit with the boosted motors. It limits when the boost torque curve responds and keeps the chance to lose traction lower while gaining speed. The 3.5 even when being careful can surprise a guy in slick situations.

    First , i like the Trump poster better and yes your son has great tastes. Second both my Ram , 2017 & 2020 have the yank button & both trucks automatically engage it in 4 low , which is great for teaching others how to back up a trailer, no gas just idle and get used to the trailer. Ps their our CZcams videos on how to turn off seatbelt chime

  • @bobbowlinex9319
    @bobbowlinex9319 Před 2 měsíci +2

    I use it all the time. This feature is available on all trucks that have electrical Lockers in their axles. I wish there was an option to be able to put it in four low and disconnect the front axle so you could have two-wheel drive low. There's a lot of situations where I'm backing into tight spaces heavy loads on a trailer and would like the lowered ears.

    OMG I had a 2012 F-250 that had that. It operates the electronic locking rear diff. The computer will turn it off at about 20 or 30 MPH. Yes it does make the need for 4 wheel drive almost not needed. All Fords should come with this feature for their rear wheel drive trucks and vans.

    My 2016 F350 CCSB 4x4 6.2 gas truck has the axle locker, use it when I'm too lazy to lock the hubs. I replaced the factory Ford hubs with aftermarket non vacuum actuated the aftermarket ones are stronger. The locker doesn't replace 4wheel drive it sure helps you get stuck further than before lol. Some F-150s have the locking rear diff my old boss's 2019 he had, had one. The locker helps on a slippery concrete/paved driveways where 4 wheel drive skips and jumps, not really good for front axle U joints on the Superduty Fords.

    @Superniceguy66 Před 2 měsíci

    That switch will lock the rear wheels together from zero to twenty miles an hour and then it will automatically disengage and re-engage when you slow to twenty miles an hour. Your ram is probably equipped with a positraction rear end. The Ford setup allows for less wear and better control on slippery surfaces with less fish tailing but allows you to decide if you need the positraction.

    The “yoink” button is common with the FX4 pkg. it’s designed to give you better off road performance with the locking differential. I have had several FX4’s and they all had it standard. My F150 Lariat didn’t have it unfortunately. But my 2004 V10 F-350 FX4 even had that feature, although it didn’t look the same as on the modern trucks.

    No secret buttons on any of my Fords. Of course one is a 94 year old sedan, the second is a two wheel drive Ranger, and the third is aTransit cargo van that isn’t 4 wheel drive either. I do have the normal/eco/tow-haul/ slippery mode button. I don’t think I would try towing anything heavy, like more than half the maximum tow load, in the eco mode.
