Steffen Berkhahn AKA Dixon and Gerd Janson are two of the hardest working and most celebrated DJs in Germany. Ranked number one on Resident Advisor’s yearly “Top DJs” poll from 2013 to 2016, Dixon deploys his subtle and meticulous edits in sets that blur the lines between house and techno. He’s also the co-founder of Innervisions, the Berlin-based label synonymous with house and electronic music that traverses the line between the progressive underground and the commercially viable. A music journalist and RBMA lecture host-turned-DJ, Janson, like Berkhan, co-owns a record label and spins in clubs around the world. His label Running Back is responsible for blistering analog house releases, and he is a remixer and producer of note, both on his own and as Tuff City Kids with Phillip Lauer. He also co-headlines the long-running Liquid club night at Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson with Thomas Hammann.

Dixon does not create a spectacle he creates a mood i've heard people call his music boring nothing is further from the truth DJing isn't just about getting coked up and wanting club bangers all night.
Dixon has given the key as to why he has been at the top of his game for a rather long time by now...3 MINUTES IN HE EXPLAINS THAT HE'S STILL YET TO RUSH THROUGH THE DOOR TOWARDS AN IBIZA RESIDENCY! What a legend. Too many awesome DJs and artists have some success and cache, jump on the hedonistic tip and after 2, 3, 4 years they're that rinsed out, often crumbling to pale imitations of their former creative selves - think serotonin seeking, machine NOISE, ever faster, often louder, with less musicality, more BIG SOUND with stripped back and peaking breakdowns often reduced to rubbish really. Go from deep house to Stadium Doof..? No says Dixon! Why lose creativity, tonality and most of the features that made you popular in the first place by getting stuck at Space or Amnesia. Jamie Jones, Ivan Smagghe, Dan Ghenacia...all reduced from forward thinking, deep and driving jazz/funk based house/tech into Stadium House bangers. Nothing wrong with the Swedish House Mafia per se (shit name obvs) but refreshing to hear someone apply some caution, reflect, bring awareness, consider their strengths/weaknesses etc rather than ego dominant bravado - good way to disappear with your head up your proverbial. For the record DIXON IS THE DJ's DJ it's true :) consistently brilliant over a long period of time. Respect !
