Theo Parrish is a true sonic architect - an artist whose work fuses the disco-based pulse of Chicago house with the mechanised soul of Detroit techno and the improvisational drive of jazz.
This talk at the 2005 Red Bull Music Academy in Seattle sees him exploring the deepest roots of contemporary dance music and revealing his own creative ambitions.

Really hoping for someone to post the original full version with the music still in it because this way it really misses the impact of his lecture. Should've grabbed it back in the day

@@Dougie- i also have no idea, but i think it has to do with the fact that the Redbull academy closed a couple of years ago. i read something about it recently too

Yeah but the songs are not included in the actual interview. The redbull lecture with moodymann has all the songs included in the interview so you can listen to the whole interview and hear the songs that he is talking about and it flows really nicely. Its Great when you're doing stuff and cant get to the computer to stop the interview and look up the song :) But yes they are available in the comments which is good!!

One can grow into a legitimate artist with just an internet connection and a laptop, but it's nearly impossible to grow into the type of artist that Theo is if you factor out how people went about finding and studying music, and learning how to present it and produce it in the the pre-internet days.

A lot of early electronic artist were properly trained musicians.

On top of that, the culture behind a lot of inner city music from the 60s to the 90s was heavy. If people don't get it, it is hard to make them understand.
