  • Everybody welcome back I just wanted to show you real quick how I take my clutches off and it's a really simple process and it literally just takes a couple minutes you put the sled on its side pull the bolts for the clutch and then you threaten the right size bolt that's wrapped with Teflon after filling the bolt-hole with gear oil some people use water I use gear oil and it pops right off.

    Pretty awesome. I just got into snowmobiles. I've wanted one since I was a kid. I've owned motorcycles my whole life. So, I had a hard time justifying owning both. I decided it was going to help me keep from getting the winter blues. So I picked up a 99 zrt 600. I'm sure this trick will come in handy somewhere along the way! Thanks for sharing!

    Are the older cats 1977 500 fc and 1985 500 fc primary clutch removal bolts the same size ?

      Not sure in that one. If you have a puller take it to the bolt shop and match the threads if its that kind. If not, grabe a few you think are the right size.
      Denniskirk website has the puller for your clutch. It looks very similar in bolt/ thread size.
      Thanks for the support!

    Can you just use the clutch bolt itself? With this method work on a 2005 saber cat 700?

    • @Fixin2Ride-Official-
      @Fixin2Ride-Official-  Před 3 lety

      No. The clutch bolt threads into the crank. So it will not fit the larger "pulling" thread near the top of the clutch.
      It will work, you just have to fine the correct bolt to fit your clutch. I believe the 6 tower clutches are 9/16" x 24 threads. Which you can get at fastenal or your local fastener shop.

      I just did this on my saber cat yesterday but used water instead. Worked just as easily as shown. The bolt I used was a 9/16 by 18 thread.

    What size diameter were the two different bolts ?

    • @Fixin2Ride-Official-
      @Fixin2Ride-Official-  Před 3 lety +1

      For the 9 Tower clutch is the bolt is 1/2 inch diameter fine thread and for the 6 Tower clutch it is a 9/16 fine thread. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the video!

      @@Fixin2Ride-Official- I tried a 9/16, fine thread, it started a little then felt binding. Would it be metric on the 94 550?

      Try the 1/2" fine thread...
