the curling is exactly what you want when it comes to brogans. any type of fuckery to do with ripping, tearing, curling, chafing or anything, is good for em. there is plenty of OG examples showing both US and CS having brogans in extremely shitty condition

@@Billy_yank1865 Brown on Taupe Jean Wool Cover is a Cincinnati Contract Depot Canteens. Most of Massachusetts units got there Canteens from N.Y. Depot.
Get authentic stuff, they last longer than mainstream gear and they represent the pieces used by the soldiers accurately. Wambaugh White and Co can give you most of your uniform stuff, if you can barely sew you can sew some of your own stuff for cheaper with their kits. Leather gear can be gotten from C and D Jarnigan. Join the civil war reenactors Facebook group and people can help you!

@@hardcorehistorybuff5230 In Regimental Quartermaster's defense, they have begun carrying mostly authentic items in the past few years. And Blockade Runner's stuff is cheaper and of lower quality, but (for the record) most of it is actually made in the United States.
@@thecivilwarhistorian only a hand full of items are "campaigner" quailty on regimental. And pretty everything on blockade is not authentic. Their kepis are some of the worst I've ever seen

If you asked me, I'd get started now, researching and collecting kit, so you can jump right in after the virus. That's what I'm doing now.

the dark blue cover was only on a small number of canteens from the new york arsenal its way over represented in the hobby
