    I know everyone hates the Gateron Clears, but as someone who has only gotten into this hobby as we were looking to find a more accessible keyboard me, I’m relieved there are switches like these. My hands had begun to have trouble pushing the keys on a normal membrane keyboard, and typing was leaving me in extreme pain. Finding out that there were different forces required for different switches was a game changer. Lots of research later I now have a keyboard with these and I can type again. We have since found there might be a few others that need even less force.
    I know this is not a problem that most have, but it would be awesome to have someone do a video that focused on the availability of what switches there were for this end of the spectrum. Less force required and how to make it sound good, because now I know. :) If there was any way to buy something like this out of the box there might be a market for others with health issues who need less force to type.

    • @AnotherCoward
      @AnotherCoward Před 2 lety +9

      I love low weight, shallow actuation switches switches - I just want to type fast and easily, and keeping my fingers light and agile is my preferred style.
      The best I've found are gateron whites / clears, gateron optical yellows (I've not tested these yet), and keychron optical low profile white

      gateron clears? my friends used it before and heavily modded her keyboard and she did a comparison stock and modded and stock it's not too good compared to for example, alpacas or something but after modded it's quite decent
      akko red linears or akko white linears sound nice too :)

    • @ernest8
      @ernest8 Před rokem +2

      My girlfriend had the same problem, she easily gets fatigued by heavier switches especially with games that required constantly holding keys. Gateron clears really helped in alleviating that.

  • @Waitjayithought
    @Waitjayithought Před rokem +32

    This video (+ my experiences) really show how much all of this is up to preference. I love gateron clears, kail box red v2s, and akko jelly whites. All sound really great and somewhat muted/thocky (when lubed for gateron clears and jelly whites), and I much prefer light switches for typing ease. Heavy switches started to give me bad carpel tunnel, and I find them to be very fatiguing to type on in general.

    On nk creams they aren't 'self lulbricating' as if they generate krytox but they rub of the plastic onto the other parts smoothening over time. You are recomended to use them alot for 2 - 3 week before taking them back out and lubing to get optimal smoothness fastest.

    I'm digging the stock gateron g pro red on the keychron q1 version 2, it's actually really nice stock. I'm gonna order the milky yellow and give it a try to see if it's actually as good as everyone has been saying.

      I just put a set in my Vissles V84 to replace their VS linear switches (had loads of dead key presses with them). The gaterons have superb feel and noise, but they are only 3-pin so be careful of bent pins.

      Oil kings are S Tier imo. Don't need to be lubed or filmed, sound and feel great. Also, no interference with North facing leds.

      @@Ezonial I second that, S tier all day. They do review the Blue Bubblegum (which are identical, minus factory lube process) and due to the polished stems they thought they were pre-lubed :P I preordered Blue Bubblegums for that plus the color, as I have Oil Kings in another build and it's my favorite switch of all time so far.

      @@Silverstyn02 I just did the same and I can confirm. Don't have to buy lube and spend time. They're smooth and sound amazing. Finger therapy. Hi, everyone. I need some help please. I'm looking for a silent but non-scratchy switch.
    I've just bought my first mechanical keyboard akko 3087 v2 with jelly pinks, they're great make a lot of sound when bottom down or top up. I could use some o rings but it wouldn't resolve the "problem".
    I'm looking to buy a custom keyboard so I really need to get a perfect switch for me.
    Any suggestions for the switches?

    As a light typer who put non drying clay inside the spacebar, black switches are nice for that just one key. Car dampeners are too muted would like to try silicone pour but that might silence it too much?

    I bought a ducky one 2 sf that had kaihl box red's in them. Sounds like a standard mechanical keyboard. Been watching all kinds of videos about making a custom keyboard and decided to buy all the stuff to make my own. Got the keychron v2, gateron milky yellows and durock stabs. Lubed the stabs and lubed the switches and did no other mods and holy hell, the difference in sound and feel is like night and day

    I've been a big fan of my Aqua King v1's (out of the launch batch) - I guess I was very fortunate to get a solid batch when I got them on pre-order. Also love my Gat Lasers and Gat Black Ink v1's, but so far, I have swapped my board over to the Panda X's and I guess I have good RNG for switches since my set is amazing. I do agree with your ranking on the list over-all since I do want switches that I can just toss into a board with minimal work needing to be done (especially after lubing and filming 90+ Gat Lasers, was worth it in the end but damn a ton of work).
