This man is a god damn legend. No one ever had a bad or mean thing to say about Dave Marcis in the press, in the grand stands or in the garage. I true legend on and off the track, someone who we could all look up to for inspiration on determination, being a stand up person, being honest and kind. Great Interview @The Garage Shop.

I wasn’t born until 1991 and I can honestly say that I know more about drivers from his era than the new era . I watch all old races , almost every Sunday I throw on CZcams and watch an old race in my shop .

Got to meet Dave back in the 90's when he had Terramite as part time sponsor. Friend of mine worked at Terramite and they had a meet and greet at I77 Speedway. They had a little camping trailer so Dave could go in and take break ever so often. Got to go in and meet and have coffee with him. He was so down to earth, it was like sitting and talking with your uncle!

Thank you for the video, Dave I remember watching you race. Racing was a fun sport then. I remember Banjo and some of his chassis tricks and how everyone was a friend first but still competed. Smokey and how he could hide things in plain sight. I think NASCAR is now focusing on the money and not on the people. Yes it was fun, now it is just different.

I always loved & respected Dave Marcis. And I learned A LOT from this interview. For example, I never knew he set up all the IROC cars. That's something to be very proud of. I'm also in full agreement with Dave ( as countless other fans are ) about the state of nascar racing today. I also quit watching entirely a while back. They tried to turn our once beloved sport into "the NFL/NBA on wheels". They literally dissed all the true, hardcore race fans in the greedy effort to attract folks who never understood or appreciated the sport to begin with. They tried to "fix something" that wasn't broken. It all went to hell from there. Your show here, and Dale Jr's "Dirty Mo Media" podcast & youtube channel are the only 2 sources I watch anymore related to nascar, and that's ONLY because you guys interview the great drivers from the golden era of nascar. The races and the people involved were more exciting & interesting back then........because they were true racers involved in the most exciting races. Smokey Yunick was a man ahead of his time........and he walked away from nascar long long ago.......he obviously foresaw the future of the sport. To this day, they refuse to induct Smokey into the nascar hall of fame. That alone proves how out of touch they are with the TRUE race fans.

@@TheGarageShop200 You're very welcome, but the pleasure was all mine, and thank you for what you guys are doing. I know I speak for tens of thousands of old school race fans ( if not more ), in saying we may have lost the sport as we once knew & loved it.........but fine people like you help keep our cherished memories vivid for the good old days of NASCAR. Keep up the great work, and I'll be following along.

Great video. A true racing legend. My brother and I once sneaked into the pits at the old Atlanta Speedway before the renovations. We wandered behind the car stalls. The first person I recognized was Mr. Marcis. Dave was wearing his Goodyear hat and his leather wing tip shoes. I always thought it would be neat if a shoe company like Allen Edmunds or Florsheim dress shoes would sponsor his car.

Chatted with him a few times, could have listened to his great stories for hours on end. I asked him what his favorite track was and he replied, as expected, “ Whichever one paid the most.” Thanks for doing this great interview.

If possible he would take out the driver closest to Earnhardt in the points. If he totaled his car he would have a new RCR car the next week without Marcus Earnhardt would no more than 3 championships
