  • A doctor explains to Sky News why she's not had a COVID vaccine, adding that the 'crisis is petering out'.
Dr Fui Mee Quek says that that even if you have a jab you can still transmit the virus, and expresses her concerns about mandatory vaccinations making NHS staff leave.
The issue is so contentious for her, she's written to the Prime Minister.

Her being a doctor shouldn't even matter. Everyone has a right to choose whether they accept any and all medical treatments regardless of their profession, and they shouldn't ever have to justify it or prove they know best when it comes to their own body. It is mandated here in Australia for healthcare workers. I quit my job rather than be forced into a medical treatment I don’t want. My role is in anaesthetics and intubation which are critical skills for severe Covid patients, yet they would rather have severe staff shortages (which we have over here) than allow freedom of choice for what goes in your body. OK, what I don't understand is - in the hypothetical question the interviewer asked about the 85 year old patient catching covid from the unvacinated GP, if the patient has been vaccinated themselves why does it matter if they caught it from a vaxed or unvaxed person? Surely the purpose of the vaccine is to reduce the issues of having covid for that patient?
If the patient in question is unvaxed then again, does it really matter if they catch covid from a vaxed GP or an unvaxed GP who are both able to spread it?
Also, were GPs required to get the yearly regular flu vaccine pre-covid?
I've never heard of this being mandatory.
That would be a very similar situation that could lead to an infection of flu and possible death of the 85 year old in that hypothetical situation.
