      RIP both. Sucks not having them around. Buster, sure as hell would ve figured new ways to play the guitar had he stayed around a bit more, as he always did, that bloke never let one day go by without evolving his playing. The Breshmen s passing really hurts bad, even to this day. Since this kind of player and entertainer is gone with Thom. Sure we have Tommy Emmanuel, Greg Koch and what not, but those cats arent that deep rooted in the foundations, Greg s a more Danny Gatton- esque and Tommy s more Lenny Breau influenced player. Thom was the last true original from this country guitar picking saga, the player s that pionnered it and kept innovating til their very last breath. Nowadays it's all about being influenced by them without taking it further. A hollow victory, but still a win, cause letting this music disappear would be the worst thing to happen.

    Oh Thom. My Papai Noel. If only you knew it worked; you saved my life. I’m still here. You will be missed at the centenary of the CAAS. I can’t believe it’s been almost two years. I will feel it in May as I did last year.

      The greats in this sytle of guitar are almost always very kind and modest. As good as they are, they're in awe like the rest of us of Chet, Jerry, and Merle.

    They never once acknowledged the audience applause. That’s a real drain on an audience. They didn’t even really interact with the audience. It’s a shame because they are both brilliant players.

    • @johnholland723
      @johnholland723 Před 11 hodinami

      Interresting observation.Could he be a little jaded?I think all accompished musicians/performers feel they deserve more applause.I noticed the applause was not that enthusiastic as if it was kind of 'ho-hum'.A kind of agreement the individuals have with each other:..."Hold back ,now ,..Just light clapping.Who knows ,he might be keeping the best til last.
      Do you remember the song "it's hard to be humble"?.It is you know.
      Any rate,I thought he talked alot to the audience.
