Wow!!! I didn't have a lemon, so I used an orange. I didn't have any Sake so I used dark rum. It turned out delicious, much better than out of a jar. Tonight instead of fish with Tartar sauce we had Tartar sauce with fish. Thank you for making the video and making it easy to follow.

Ketchup in tartar sauce: WHAT...on what planet. ? Home made mayonnais, eggs, shallots, chives, tarragon, capers and pickles. Not cucumbers. .it's a French creation: respect it

its great but its not tartar sauce.. you cant put mayo into anything and call it tartar.. it has to have garlic and pickles and no onion or egg whites

In this case, "Tartar Sauce" and "Tartare Sauce" refer to the same thing, depending on where you live.

It looks very much like the original thousand island recipe. Perhaps the person who 'invented' thousand island dressing stole the idea from the Japanese and tartar sauce originated from Japan or Turkey instead of France. There is a sauce that the Turks ate called tarator with fried seafood that consisted of yogurt, cucumber, dill(herbs), lemon, garlic, ground walnuts or tahini. Tzaziki sauce also rings a bell and almost similar. I guess each culture has its favorite herbs, flavorings or condiment, like France white wine and dijon mustard.
