Got into boxing because of Nigel benn and Lennox Lewis, but into my late teenage years Ricky was my absolute favourite! A proper people’s champion and what he achieved was nothing short of amazing!!! Congratulations Ricky! It’s exactly what you deserve, forever a man of the people who lived his dream and took us fans with him. Well done mate ❤
Away from personal issues, Hatton was the dream in the boxing game. More brawler than technician. Name is cemented in history. 🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊
Nearly 20 years later and Ricky still seems to struggle accepting the Mayweather defeat. Still a Hall of Fame Champion though 🫡
I watched the fight live when it happened and I have watched the fight every single year since then. I can understand why he is bitter and upset about it because Joe Cortez literally ruined that fight and it was like two against one at times. Even the American commentators said that when a referee is doing more talking during a fight than the ringside commentators all are you know theres a problem
Yeah getting silly now, his ego still can't handle it, he was good but 1 dimensional and not elite elite level , Mayweather was... I won't watch this but ile assume he mentions hes from a council estate at some point 😀
One that always sticks with me is the last time myself and my dad could go to a boxing fight together because he began to be ill not long after and that was Hatton vs Carlos Vilchez think how you spell it, dad past away 7 years ago, I’ve been to many since but my dad couldn’t come to any more after that, good times

Having watched Ricky vs Mayweather a couple of times on TV/CZcams I agree with Ricky’s previous summary that the referee was overzealous in his constant separating of both boxers, thus hindering Ricky’s fighting style which was clearly frustrating Mayweather but that referee helped Mayweather.

If the fight was in England and the ref let both fighters were allowed to box their styles, then one could say it was fair.
Yeah it was skill vs power & the ref played into mayweathers favour , as Ricky said mayweather still probably wud have won but it wud have been more interesting and alot more harder fight for Floyd so I agree with ricky but mayweather is fantastic talent. 🥊
What can you take away from the Pacquiao fight? That Manny was jacked up to the nines on steroids and he put several welterweights in real danger of permanent damage.

@@DRUNKIRISHMAN-THE-TAVERN I expect he was on test and HGH. No way could a flyweight come up to Welter in that space of time and start sparking people with that ferocity. The damage he did to Antonio M surely should have started off alarm bells long before what he did to Hatton.

Loved watching Hatton fights growing up ....super fighter....alot of ppl didn't even no Hatton had 2 move up weight for the mayweather fight and i will always believe tat the fight wud of been completely different if ricky didn't hate mayweather so much from all the talk from mayweather in the build up for the fight.....not saying the winner wud be different just a better fight all in all...i tink ricky might say the same....

Very good fighter, and I wonder what he could have done, if he has not had some poor refuelling habits in between fights? Not being critical, just asking a genuine question.
Maybe he needed to do that to be able to compete at the level he did, which was one level below all time world greats, but not many people get to the level he did.
