    What about surge at lower revs under throttle when the turbo is too big for the engine but you need that turbo in the top end? Can you use an electronic BOV controlled by the ECU to alleviate surge?

    Isn't a blow off valve doing the same job as my stock blow out valve? Have a 1.6 turbo diesel, first trubo engine and well, it literally broke the shaft between the two compressor wheels...

    Hello.
    What do you advise me to install on an 8.71 blower on a big block Chevy which surges a lot. I hate it and I would like it to stop.
    Thanks.

    If i make the spring tighter will that cause surge? Im the guy that makes noises at work @myself

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ  Před 26 dny

      Installing a stiffer spring in your BOV will make it more difficult for the valve to open and release pressure. Using too stiff of a spring will induce compressor surge.

    Soo..... what do these do in regards to the power or performance ? Do you lose power by releasing the air ? Do you gain any benefits apart from saving the turbo?

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ  Před 5 měsíci

      BOV's protect the turbocharger. Regardless of whether the pressure is being vented out of a BOV or back to the turbocharger allowing compressor surge, pressure will release from the charge pipes. Typically this air will only release when you get off throttle so, no you should not lose power since you are not giving a throttle input at that time. Aside from protecting the turbo a BOV does not provide much performance benefit.
