I was thinking the exact same thing.
I recently acquired one of these types. By a brand called Decatur industries? It’s in great shape etc but there is some slight dents I was wondering how would I fix the dented wood? With a filler? Would I need to sand it down and fill in the small dents and refinish the entire piece? I made the mistake of using 70% alcohol and it kind of dried it white a little in some areas.
For fixing minor dents I would start by just putting some water on them. Sometimes that is sufficient to swell the wood. If that doesn’t work placing a damp towel over them then heating it with a hot clothes iron will sometimes help.
