- I heard something in my head, and maybe it was better off staying in there. The main idea was to sample, and resample multiple instruments and almost create a new "sample" that I can then chop and rearrange. It's something I've done before on other machines and I wanted to try it out on the Digitakt! Join me as I chase my curiosity bringing an idea to real life with mixed results.

#dawless #synthesizer #musicstudio - Hudba
The B works because it's one of the chord tones. It's the 5 of that Emin9 which is the underlying harmony, since you tuned it down from that Gmin9 in the beginning. Also the piano line that repeat is playing E, B, E, F#, B.
Chord tones from the main triad being played used as a melody are always really useful.
The tension is happening because it sounds like you pitched up the chord for a half a beat right at the end of the loop and when you drone that B it adds some nice dissonance while the harmony shifts up chromatically.
Killed it, man. Sounds great.
wowza, I cannot wait to get to this level of legendary. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
@@RickyTinez Dang, thanks! You're a beast, man. You learning piano like this is just unlocking that neeexxt level sh*t haha.
I am doing the "turn all the synths off but one for a month" thing. It made me work sooooo hard for it but it feels good when you get there.
What's your weapon of choice? If I had to live with just one, it'd be the Syntakt... but I'd really miss Juno 😅
oooo I might have to try this! I've been hyper focused on the Nord lately and then the same bass sound off my pro 3 haha
You just keep getting better. It's so rewarding watching your videos over time and seeing you refine your sound and craft.
Ricky that baseline is insane. one your best I've seen on the channel, it really is that good. like dude. nice one
Probably my favorite jam of yours so far and I've been watching for awhile! The vibe and groove were so good.
Always enjoy your videos. Thank you for the live demos without editing out the process!
It’s brilliant ! This randomizing feature to sketch an idea is great as we always tend to naturally go with what we know. It’s very inspiring
This was dope dude. Thanks for always delivering quality videos each week!
Awesome jam! Every one of your videos is quality content, and that bassline is sick!
It’s always a pleasure watching you put down a track.
Kind of serendipitous that you posted a Digitakt vid. I just got my new one yesterday after having sold my old one last year and regretted it. Dope jam. Can’t wait to try some of this.
Nice track, I dig it! Thanks for the video I’ll have to try these techniques out.
Excellent, thanks for this video. More DT content like this please!
Since you work at Elektron... when can we expect Octatrack mk3? I won't tell anyone.
I sold my OT Mk2 around 18 months ago because i was sure the Mk3 couldn’t be too far away…
Tomorrow
The weather channel is going to eat this shit up
Love the vibe of this track! That bassline is fire! 🔥
Always an inspirational watch.
I learn so much watching you work!! Thanks for taking the time to narrate your process💚
Thank you for all the support! Great set again, it was fun to watch you perform!
Great video pal, it’s reassuring to see someone else go through the experimental thought process. I really dig your taste in music as well! 🙌👍
I missed Digitakt content! Nice to see it return
So inspired! 💛
No cap Ricky is back 🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢
Cover photo just kicked off Enrique's modelling career.
Enjoyed as always.
Sounded great 👍🏻
Nice as always! Ricky no specs, now no cap - almost didn’t recognise you from the thumbnail 😂
Great stuff. One thing I’ve been doing recently is to make my own mini sample pack for the track before touching my sampler. It usually starts with creating a chord progression loop on my daw and sampling matching other sounds. From that point I treat it as if I only had those sounds to work from. I have found I am making tracks much faster and fairly happy with my tracks with these little rules, lol. Anyway, helped get me out of a bit of a rut so thought I’d share…
oooo I LOVE restrictions when it comes to making music! I'll give this a go :) Thanks Dracul74
what a killer track and that bassline omg, congrats Ricky ❤🔥
getting pretty sick dude!✌
The b in e equals mysterious, sexy, unresolved tension ! that's why you love it ! nice beat x
Man you are so fast on that digitakt. Sick beat btw
that idea around 8:05 you abandoned was actually pretty good :) i liked that direction ;)
Love to see this workflow on the mpc live, do you still have that piece of gear, or did you totally move over to the electron stuff. Great vid again. Super!! Loved the vibe on 17 an onwards,, wow ❤ it sounds like a lot of my old vinyl i have, any track coming out of that let us know so we can support!
Yeah, that bassline is where it's at. Nice video
Nice!
That bit at the end was pretty sick man. 👍🏿
so much goodness in this video, as always.
interesting to see you make lofi house that could have gone so many different ways. make sure and post when its released i'm keen to see where it lands.
17:23 that’s the magic, right there!
Now we also know that Ricky isn't bald under all of his hats and caps. :)
Thanks for another great video. I'm listening to Celebrate Life on CZcams Music right now. Keep on making more tracks!
BEST thumbnail / title ever
"triggler" is the new word for trigless lock
Sorry Ricky but what you did at 5:59 actually generated a great idea and IMO it was 100% worth saving to a different pattern rather than being dismissed... and you even felt it. Maybe something worth noting for your workflow in general moving forward messing around with the random locks?
Awesome! Nice work. Can you explain the GREY shift button in your digitakt tho???!!!!
stereo sampling on digitakt would be awesome
4 days later and I just remembered something. Because the DT treats each pattern as its own "kit" but the sample pool is shared, you can dedicate a specific pattern as a scratchpad / record / bounce location so you don't need to sacrifice a track or two in the main pattern. Whenever I do this I just use pattern 16.
And if you want to clear all the pages of a track just press TRK + Clear to "Clear Sound". This does keep the trigs though.
Agree with the general consensus, excellent bassline.
When resampling is there a way to just use it and keep it stored in the project file or does all the resampling need to be saved to the drive?
I never resampling because it makes my file management sloppy and it’s always a challenge to know how to name them. Maybe I’m too OCD for it.
Killer track. The high strings really gave it that Detroit feel
I’d love to know how the routing works with the patch bay. Do all your keyboards/synths go into there, and then the output from three goes into the DT, enabling you to sample any of your hardware instruments?
As a Detroiter who's been in the Detroit Underground since the 90's, I can assure you this passes the Vibe Check!
Good stuff. Big fan of chopping unquantised melodic material on a strict grid. Recording upright piano into po33 and doing this with the stepping filter works a treat.
yeeeesss its so good! new rhythms start showing up!
@@RickyTinez that's it, notes appear 'between the cracks' giving you results you would never intentionally play.
That baseline is niccccce!
that B on the strings works because that’s the key. listening on my phone and i believe the bass is doing something rooted in B. the sample also returns to the B at the end of each little melody phrase. “bum B, bada B” if that makes sense
hey this was a really good beat in my oppinion deep dark and dubby with a bit of tingly house stuff i like it
Where do I get the samples youre using here? Sounds soo nice, I wish I could try to remake that
Can the Meraki handle line level straight in or are you using a reamp box to make it work?
You are my go to Music maker ❤ 🇩🇰
Hey man, question: I tried the Digi-series out a couple of times and I found that for what I need, the Machinedrum is the perfect fit. Nothing comes close to it except for maybe JoMoX. Are there any plans for something truly as capable for drums like the Machinedrum is/was?
❤❤❤
How do you manage to sample all your synths straight into the DT without changing the cables? Or are you doing that but cut it out of the video? Patchbay? Some other method? I thought maybe you could route one of the outputs from my audio interface (Scarlett 8i18) into the DT but that doesn't seem to work.
So good. Love the Digitakt. But I wish it had stereo sampling… those Nord strings sounded great with stereo effects coming out of the Nord but then collapsed down to mono in the Digitakt they lost a lot of the mojo. Wonder if we’ll get a Digitakt firmware upgrade from Elektron to give us stereo sampling one day? Probably not because Octatrack but can only hope…
Man your taste classic deep house is second to none sir! You could of released on Guidance recordings back in the day
too kind
at 8:15 maybe it is good but we just don t get enough, like a creative burn out. It s not lack of inspiration, it s just that with all this gear and all this musical business model nothing sounds good enough anymore. Maybe we should burn it out and start allover again. Maybe s just me having a moment
Anyway thanks for your videos man, appreciated
Hey Ricky, can you tell me what kind of headphones you are using here?
Huh... Just occurred to me I've never seen you without a hat.
Fckn banger😎💣
Can you do a demo on the Yamaha seqtrack it looks super cool. Only 100 more than the ko2 and looks way more capable
electro? I've been starting to learn jazz piano on my Electro 6D 61 key. Love the keybed to death.
Would you ever test a Jomox Alphabase if you had a chance?
Hey! What exactly does the Meraki does?
Stereo analog delay 🎶
19:34 brooo 🔥
I want to play around with a Digitakt real bad.
Please make ‘them’ make a Stereotakt. All that goodness from the Nord was lost in the mono conversion 😢
I've always wanted to record jams, then Chop them up and resample them Into something crazy. One day when I have my own space 😅
swear to god everyones making some sick shit with Digitakt but when im trying to make it im stuck on a 32 or 64 step loop and can't make it any further for some reason
That Meraki delay pedal costs almost as much as the Elektron Digitakt??? 😱 Can you do a demo video sometime whether it's really worth it?
Cheesy = fun 🤘 This track reminds me of Bomberman 64 vibes 💣 Lovin iiiiit
hahaha! I used to be addicted to that game
Isn't it Meh Ra Kee? 🤔
Doooope
Melt the cheese
Add some female vocals every other loop, resample, down shift, apply reverb…
Nice tune, can't help but notice your FUNC key is GREY instead of ORANGE?! Looks like a A4 button almost
Flow appears as no flow
4:11 I’ll only be referring to these as trigless trigglers from now on
Pretty funny 'singing' of notes.
Namm 2024 is very soon
Elektron might update the Digitakt to make it a stereo sampler and boost the sample ram above 64mb.
Beginning of video - Aww using a nice stereo delay before the Digitakt... man this is all gonna be lost... resampling on the DT to mono never works...
End of video - Daaaaaamn this is a bumpin' tune!
Need to constantly remind myself that I don't need to use the OT when making this stuff. The DT works when you use the right ingredients!
Dude I'm so not used to seeing you with out your glasses!
Cheezy is cool too haha
Mannnnn this didn't sound cheesey at all. Melodic part Sounded dope.
Whoa... no hat
v-rare
If your pattern is in the key of G then that B is a major Third,
4 half steps up
And if it's in E, then B is the 5th. (7 semitones up.)
You're in E minor and the question is why do the E and the B work? I must be misunderstanding what you're saying there.
Anybody else holding out for Ricky doing an Akai MPC plus review ?😀
Yo I thought you were completely bald under your hat for the first year or 2 that I knew you.
I am not sponsored by anyone but having all affiliate links in description
When Ricky finds out about Akai's upcoming stem separation update for mpc's, that digitakt and the teenage engineering ko2 are going straight back in the box.
Nop, each device has its own particularities and work flow. Peace ✌️
Not if tracklib has anything to pay about it.
I enjoy your content....but the thumbnail is wayyyyy to "artsy"
Wow this seems so convoluted and IM sorry for sounding disrespectful as I love your channel but why not just use NI Maschine with their amazing instruments and workflow?
NI machines are some of the most cumbersome machines I have ever used. We all have our workflows, and Elektron is really fun.
its a basic pattern based drum machine lol there's nothing cumbersome about it@@b.c.slumber3694
lol im the 888th like. man this was great! you can say cheezball all ya want, at the end there that was some groovy stuff you had goin.
super cool @remyvegamedia explained how the B works!
