If Detroit actually gets the 5th pick again, then I think the lottery odds need to be revised. Cause that’s insane.
tbf they did get the nr 1 overall pick with cade so they cant complain with the way that the odds have been dropped it can happen
@@tellsteveharveyidontwanthe2283 It’s good that they got Cade, but it used to be impossible drop to 5 with the worst record. The lowest you used to be able to drop to with the worst record was 4. To drop to 5 with the worst record two years in a row is just crazy. I think the odds should be reviewed. I understand the odds were changed to prevent teams from tanking as much, but they went too far. The team with the worst record has a higher chance of dropping to 5 than they do of getting a top 3 pick.
It's not insane by any statistical measure. The draft odds are intentionally spread out so that teams are less likely to tank on purpose. Nobody has more than a 14% chance of #1 pick, and the odds of the worst team getting the 5th pick are 48% in a given year. And the odds of that happening two years in a row (the odds of Detroit getting the #5 pick twice in a row) are 23%, so not that rare.
@@IRNjuggle28 That’s what I’m saying. The fact that it’s not that unlikely for the worst team to drop to 5 two times in a row is crazy. The lowest that you could drop to before as the worst team was 4, and it was more likely that you got a top 2 pick than the 4th pick. Now you have a 3x higher chance of dropping 4 spots than you do of not dropping at all. It’s the same for the wizards too. They have a higher chance of dropping to 5 or 6, than they do of getting top 3. Adam Silver went too far with the changes.
@@obi3924 I hear you. But I'm honestly asking--how should the NBA prevent tanking, other than what they're doing right now with the lottery odds? I'm open to other ideas if you have a better one. I feel like the odds being the way they are is a reasonable anti-tanking measure. Like you said, Detroit and Washington are still guaranteed top 5 and top 6 picks. It's not like they're getting a bad pick compared to the average team.

IDK about Topic with Scottie and IQ on the same team. I know my Raptors don’t have a backup PG, I’d rather sign a bench PG and draft a PG for the 31st pick.

I mean IQ and Scottie can both be off the ball secondary playmakers, Topic is bigger so size wouldn’t be an issue like Brunson and Quickley would’ve been, but yeah probably not the best option
If the raptors get the 2nd pick I highly doubt they pass up on Topic if he’s there. There’s just too much of a connection there with him and the Serbian staff we have with Darko and also Ivo Simovic who likely has been following him since he was a kid. His job at UCLA before coming to the Raptors was their international recruiter and I’m sure some kid playing on their national team has been on his radar for years. The Raptors likely have the most information on Topic and the fact we actually need a back up PG makes it all make sense.

The Raptors drafting a guard especially a PG at with that top 6 pick would be an absolute waste. Point Scottie is the future for the raps with IQ and RJ as the starting gaurds, the raps need a young 5 or a 3and D wing not another PG

I love Tyler Smith he would be a good fit for us cuz we need spacing around Scottie but I was a bit confused with Topic at 2 because IQ is really improving his playmaking abilities and Scottie can play the point so I don’t know who we should take in the top 6 but I would love Tyler Smith if he fell to us at 16

I think it’s way too early to be doing a mock draft. By the time draft combine and workouts begin, we’ll have a much better idea on where teams are actually thinking in the draft.
There’s also going to major shift in the scout rankings depending on who’s making an impression during the workouts.

Any thoughts on Tristan Newton from UCONN who won 2 NCAA championships and player of the tournament? He is only 22 years old, 6’5 and an elite playmaker. Why do none of the mock drafts have him being drafted?? 😮😮 Seems like he gets overlooked even though most of his teammates are potentially getting drafted.

The Spurs don’t need Robert Dillingham. At 6-2 and 159 he is too frail to play in the physical NBA. Also, the dude does not play any defense. The Spurs had one of the worst defensive teams in the league this season. They don’t need to add Dillingham to the mix.
You say, Dillingham is a great shooter? I loved that 10-point scoring performance he had against Oakland. 🤮
Dillingham and Reed Sheppard, both, are overrated.They are why Kentucky had a mediocre, for Kentucky, season in 2023-24.
I have a feeling Matt will come back to react to his draft rankings in 2 years and he'll be confused on why he was so high on Topic. Topic is a good playmaker but his offensive game isn't impressive to me to be the number 2 pick. I think he could have a Josh Giddey type of impact but never be a top 2 option. I'd rather draft Collier at 2, I could understand it if the Raptors picked like 7 though cause they need a playmaker.

Topic is very mature and smart for his age. A proven winner and leader something not often seen in guards. IQ as well is amazing. I also think he would benefit a lot in Toronto if this was the lottery, from Darko's coaching. And honestly a lot of bottom teams need that vocal leader type.

As a rockets fan if Reed Sheppard falls to us I would be over the moon. We desperately need shooting and he would be the perfect player for us off the bench.

Juan Nuñez falling to 50 would be insane. Best passer on the draft by far and actually playing against grown men. He's had 2 great years in the Eurocup with a good team and performed great last year at the FIBA world cup against the best in the world. Keep sleeping on him! For the 2nd pick, I wouldn’t have hated taking Risacher and having a “positionless wing rotation” of Risacher-RJ-Scottie, I also would be willing to take Clingan that early too, but I wouldn’t complain too much about Topic, he’s just a little more awkward of a pick due to spacing. LOVE the Tyler Smith pickup though, he’s going to be a steal in Toronto
I would rather even go Da Silva with the second pick over Tyler Smith. Both are great though!

As a pistons fan, this is the only draft class i would be ok with falling to 5, players who we need fit wise are mocked around 4 - 8 so i would rather fall in the draft and get our guy then reach at 1 or 2

Think about some of the talent that isn't being drafted even in the second round in this mock. RJ Davis, a NPOY candidate. Armando Bacot. Pelle Larson. Tristen Newton.

The odds are shite. There are to many teams not to ever have a 1st overall pick, compaired to super organisations like the spurs.

As a Grizz fan, I saw the thumbnail and was about to inform you of our situation and our GM would be instantly fired if he chose a wing/guard over a big, with both Clingan and Filipowski going to another team in the thumbnail, then we won the lottery, guess I ain't complaining then. Also, there is absolutely zero appeal for Risacher or any other non-big if we're in that situation, we're gonna take Clingan over Risacher if Sarr's not available (more likely we're gonna trade down but if we have to we're taking Cligan or even Filipowski over Risacher).

I really don't like Castle in Chicago who's a perfect fit in Cleveland . The Bulls should trade their #11 to the Knicks for their #23 & #25. Then the Bulls can draft Filipowski & Tristan da Silva. Here's why these picks are perfect... Looking at Tristan reminds me of Franz Wagner. Someone who can stretch the floor while helping DeRozan score at 3 or 4 position. Just in case Drummond leave Fliipowski would be good while backing up Vucevic and duplicate what Vooc does with just better foot work. I think the team needs to trade J-Carter and T-Craig to the Memphis or Philly for future 2nd rd picks then sign and trade P-Willoams to OKC for 2 2nd rd picks

As a raps fan alex sarr would be an absolute blessing for us. I want no parts of nikola topic. I dnt we dnt need another ball handling non shooter on the team. Scottie literally the point guard on offensive. Iq secondary play maker but also becomes the main pg when scottie goes to bench. Raptors absolutely take sarr if we get lucky enough to draft. If we did draft a gaurd in the lottery id expect to go after a pg with higher scoring amd shooting upside, with hopefully solid defensive capabilities. Non of which i see with topic

Pelicans not taking Edey. They have a slow footed back to the basket center in Valanciunas and they play him sparingly. Edey does not fit what they want at that position

Why Edey to Heat? Because the Heat have a size issue, regardless of what Spoelstra thinks. Spoelstra is a great coach, he’s also stubborn about his rotations. Spoelstra’s small ball only worked because he had 3 of the best to do it at the time. If we’re talking championships.

Can you explain why Carlton Carrington aint the best point guard in this draft? Maybe, give me some big cons that drop him low out of top3 pg. Have you guys watched Topic's games? He is definitely lacking dribbling skills, shooting skills and thus playmaking skills. Guys like Castle can't shoot 3, and Carrington can do everything Rob can do, with 6'4/5 height. Gorgeous dribbling, passing, shooting, playmaking skills, athletism and very polished gameplay for Carlton Carrington! I think the Spurs should definitely get him if they choose to draft a point guard. Imo he is the no1 pg, if not, top 3 for sure.
