Any Spurs fan realizes the Spurs desperately need wings more than PGs. The Spurs started Julian Champagnie at SF for 59 games yet most of these CZcamsrs never mention him. Thatâs because heâs not really worth mentioning. The Spurs need big wings.

Agreed. Think about the years between 07 and 14 chips. What happened was Bowens descent/Kawhi ascent. You need a wing that can defend. Sochan isnt quick enough for lot of Star 2s and definitely not 1s
Everyone acting like Spurs world is on fire cause no pg just seemed like they didnât watch too much games. Yes they could use a pg but defenders are much more needed, thatâs why I prefer Castle over the other two pg
@mkw5398 Keldon is a small wing. Sochan is closer to a true PF than a big wing. That should have been his progression last year instead of the PG experiment.

The Spurs SHOULD swap #8 with Chicago for #11 in trade that sends Keldon Johnson and Devonte Graham to Chicago for 6'6 Lonzo Ball and 6'5 Alex Caruso. That backcourt gives them DEFENSE, PASSING, BALL HANDLING and OUTSIDE shooting to best accentuate Wemby's game. They should try to move up for Risacher by offering Collins and #4.
They should then get Isiah Hartinstien(3 yrs 59M), Bol Bol (2 yrs 20Mand possibly Drummond (3yrs 14M) and Nic Batum(2yrs/ 17M)

Wemby, if stay healthy, will be the most dominant defensive player since the Dream, and possibly better.
Well San Antonio has pick #4 and #8. Why not take both as Nikola may be there at 4 and Castle at 8. Don't trade either pick unless you get a real quality player on a decent contract. San Antonio is young and not burdened with high salary under-performers. They can slow play their hand for maximum benefit.
If Topic is there at 8, spurs need to pick him

Unless we sweeten the deal and trade our 4th pick and Keldon Johnson to move up in the draft for Risacher we wonât get him. As far as Castle, unless weâre looking to take him for PG which makes no sense with Nikola being the better facilitator we should not draft him. Because Castle is a poor shooter and so is Sochan.
Aside from Castle and Sochan both being defensive powerhouses, their poor shooting combination together could spell disaster for our Spurs from an offensive stand point. Despite Castle and Sochan playing 2 different positions both guys pretty much have the same strengths and weaknesses so we donât need both.
Draft Castle at #4 (unless Risacher is still available)
and get a PG at #8 (Topic, Dillingahm, Sheppard)

I love Castle, love his defense, got so excited watching his defensive highlights. However, he has so much overlap with Sochan and the Spurs need players who can do two out of three things, defend, shoot, pass. They can't afford to get players who can only do one thing really weÄșl. It will not fit with the current roster. Unless Spurs has faith to develop Castle's play making as a PG or his shooting, it is a risky pick. That said, I believe in the heart of a good defender and champion. I am willing to bank on his potential growth over many others.
If the Spurs are serious about trading for Garland, they are giving up the 8th pick and will definitely not be selecting a point guard. So expect a small forward with the 4th pick.

The only people that talk about being serious with Garland is the news media. They have no idea who we're going to trade or draft for and the other question is going to be just how much is Garland going to cost? They ain't getting him cheap.
I love topic at 4 and castle at 8. Castle at perimeter defense, sochan at mid, and wemby downlow. All good sized players
wemby is 20. We have tiiime. Draft best available and use upside to break ties. A lot of ppl are worried about having too many limited offensive players... I wouldn't worry about that with someone like Castle. He is as sure of a bet as anyone in this draft. He's basically Josh Hart and will have trade value if the fit is unsalvageable.
Another one of those who think they would draft 2 point guards lol. They still have Tre and Wesley. So 4 PGs would make sense? haha The only reason why it was highlighted that they need a PG is because they played Sochan in the position too long. Spurs would have gotten more wins if Pops didnt do that stupid experiment. Stephon Castle and a PF or Center would make sense more

Pick a wing that can shoot or shooters at #4 like Risacher, Buzelis, Sheppard.
Since the Detroit, Hornets and Blazers have their young point guards, they wouldn't draft a point guard with their picks, so drafting a PG at #8 is a great choice.
And at #8 pick a point guard like Dillingham, Topic, or Sheppard again.

@@borisabilana6836 he is. The PG Experiment Fd with his game, it effected his game. Did you not see the last game Against the Phoenix suns? The game winning shot , look at his defense and rebounding , it took till about mid March for Sochan to bounce back to his normal self after the experiment
Defense has been a hallmark of Spurs championship teams. It all begins there. Shooters can be added later. You need not score as much when you limit your opponentsâ scoring.

@@aspleen1102topic is easily the best playmaker and best slasher in the draft. Has one of the highest true shooting% and is one of the youngest players in the class. Also His 3P shows potential considering his solid shooting form, mid range shooting, and elite ft%. Also the questions about his defense are overstated imo.

His TS% is far away from "the highest" faaaaaaaaar away.
If you want (one of) the best TS% of this draft: Reed Sheppard. Can shoot can finish, can pass, and can produce D despite of his frame.

Which is why heâs got a higher ts% than the other options at the top. I like reed a lot but he isnât a primary ball handler, and is levels behind topic and castle as a creator.

I've Been Saying this, time & time again, Nikola Topic if He doesnt develop a Shooting ability, Hes just basically a Ben Simmons 2.0 End of story
the idea that he can't shoot is overstated. He's a 90% FT shooter which has been a much bigger indicator of 3point shooting in the NBA than actual 3p shooting. He also has an incredible ability to finish around the rim with either hand. He is already considerably more skilled than Simmons. Simmons, however, is an elite defender, unlike Topic.
