These are selvedge type jeans, meaning heavyweight denim. I remember my mom saying they could stand their jeans up by themselves practically because the material was so thick. That was in the 40's.
Yes they could stand up not because of the thickness but the starch.

None of those jeans fit me since I'm a 30/30. Not an old jeans enthusiast. I can see the appeal. These are repro jeans?
Yes all repro denim. I don’t have any smaller sizes right now.
