    I like your vintage 501's. I grew up in the 80's and wore those (before button fly was cool) - loved them. You'd break in the 501's and you were golden. I think back to my youth and great jeans I owned, wish I had hung onto a couple pairs.

    “If I knew then what I know now”….I would’ve kept all my old Levi’s from the ‘80s. I used to donate them to Goodwill once they had small holes in them. Never knew they could be repaired and/or the holes showed “character.” I’m in my 50s now and I still love my Levi’s but I’ve also branched out to the famous quality selvedge brands nowadays.

    I love to wear 501 Levi's which is for me the Best jeans becoming a real second skin when naturally faded up well-worn by dint of being worn every day ... especially when it's a Shrink To Fit.. but it's difficult now to find 501 STF . I've à great collection of 501 Levi's I ve been keeping all my old pairs of 501s since my first pair I got when I was 14een years old.

    Awesome. I used to love Levi's but when I started my own collection fell in love with carhartt. They seemed to last longer. I have a pair Of their western jeans that have lasted me 12 years. Have you tried Round house and Pointer brand? Both made in America. Round house is 14.5 0z. They feather and faded beautifully and Poiner brand used to use White oak Denim until W.O.D shut down. Anyway cool video and cool collection.

    So, my question is...💁🏻...original compared to reproduction, how are they...❓ Do you have enough experience to have any input on that...❓ Would the reproduction jeans be of the exact same materials and build quality as the original...❓ And do they feel as good when wearing them as compared to a pair of original old jeans...❓

    • @MrRobertSelvedge
      @MrRobertSelvedge  Před 2 lety +1

      Hm good questions. I do own jeans made from the same cone mills selvedge denim levis used back in the day and I think there is a slight difference in the feel of the fabric but to be honest I think its personal preference. You could ask several people and they may all come up with different answers because of their personal associations with the jeans. So my advice would ultimately be to find jeans that fit you well and your lifestyle. Jeans that you can live in day in and day out. I don't care if they are $10 from Walmart or $400 from Japan, the best jeans are the ones that you love and wear!

  • @liljuanito123

    Your dad's jeans are awesome, yes please put them in a case. How would you compare the fit of those ironhearts to the 501 or 511?

    • @MrRobertSelvedge
      @MrRobertSelvedge  Před 3 lety

      I need to get a case for sure! My iron hearts are a lot tighter than my 501's. My 511's are probably similar but they are only about 11oz and have stretch to them so they are much easier to wear. Thanks for watching!

    should i buy levis 501 STF ... true to size or 2 size up?

    • @shashankgulati6935
      @shashankgulati6935 Před 9 měsíci

      you wear size 30 jeans , but also in levis stf you wear size 30 ..means true to size? when you bought that stf, waist of jeans was 30 or actually looser than 30. Does your waist not shrink?

I personally have a high quality tailor I go to in the city I live in, and Wrangler 936's look the business when they are slimmed and tapered down. Perhaps the most durable affordable jeans out there with a modern cut after the tailoring is done. I was also lucky to get a hold of some limited edition Wrangler ® Blue Bell Matt jeans about 7 or 8 years ago and they also look epic as they are dark denim and selvedge.
