@@TheMANuel2595 Yeah, as you may have seen already, Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed Hi Ren, clarifies the process in the comments section of Jonathan Hiller's (Filmmaker Reacts) reaction to the song. Live yes, not a one-take but a masterful piece of art nonetheless.
Every reaction video of this song I have watched has left the presenters speechless and more than fewer of them in tears. This is a modern day Bohemian Rhapsody, but with a rawness and connectivity that touches every nerve and emotion. Simply musical and theatrical genius.

Not only is this an absolute masterpiece, but it serves as some of the best viral marketing I've ever seen. So many people feel like they were taken on a journey for 9+ minutes, and had their mind blown, that it drives you to watch reaction videos to see others take the same journey, and so those who watch it then head to channels like yours, and the other 30+ reaction channels I've visited because of this song... performance, to either recommend it for a video, or to watch the video. Hence it spreading like wildfire. I can envisage a future generation who will check this out and have the same reaction. Just pure genius. A few minutes after watching for the first time, it reminded me of how I felt listening to two other songs - My Mind by Yebba, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Both take you on a journey, and mind-blowing in their own way. In my 45+ years of life, I can count such experiences on my fingers. I'm pretty sure Ren just peaked. I don't see how that can be topped. ..But I think his next track releases tomorrow (1/19/23), so, don't quote me on that. lolz
Thanks for heads up on Yebba, just checked it thanks to you. The gift of music, forever grateful for it. What would life be like without it, couldn't do without it once experienced its infinite joy. Peace n love to you.
That's not really marketing, viral or otherwise. No plans were made for people to watch it, love it, then go to other reaction channels. The only marketing done here is exactly the same that every other indie artist does: put it out there and promote it as much as possible.
exactly what you said and I even had my Mind by Yebba and Bohemian Rhapsody connections in my head just for the journey and connection experience only i found this went to the very recess of the soul - extremely powerful and I cant think of a better video - Sargent Pepper by the Beatles blew many away in its day but none of could have possibly prepared us the listener to see art in its purest form
I've been going round watching all the reaction videos of REN ,and how everyone starts with a weird face when Ren starts signing in falsetto and they are not sure what they are listening too. Then ren starts the rhythm and begins to rap,and faces change then it's the confusion of what's the song about is he rapping about himself, realization hits hes talking to his alter ego, then when the falsetto kicks back in everyone is into it big time.then Ren tells his story at the end, its profound no wonder this has gone viral. "Hi Ren "amazing, fantastic, humble and real, Ren has blown people's minds he is so good and does it live. 🇬🇧👍
The battle for good and evil has been happening inside every human beings mind since the dawn of time. Ren allows us for just a few minutes to see what we can't see and feel what we can't feel. We thank Ren for this performance.
They meant that while this was the fourth take, it was all done ‘live’ in one take. The multiple camera angles were edited later. I think he talks about it on ‘Talking Hi Ren on Twitch’ here on CZcams.
I was floored when a friend sent this to me. I immediately got the back and forth references because it's often what goes through my own mind. I think we all struggle with this at times and it's comforting to realize we are just humans and we're not alone.
I've been going nuts over this tune since I saw it on a reaction video a few days ago. One of the most artful, greatest new songs of my life. So deep, so funny, such a powerful tribute to the Human Spirit. Love it!
Ren just got to Canada for treatment's a couple times a week & could be there for up to 6mo's... but he brilliantly pre-recorded & will be releasing them in due time. Thanks for reacting to this Brother. Awesome job as always.
The whole thing is just genius. The song is so deep; like into your bones deep. I love that the video is so simple as to not distract from the powerful message. Every reaction I’ve watched has the reactor completely mesmerized. What an incredible piece of art. ✌🏻❤️😊
I feel like this performance can be used to weed out the psychopaths among. If this song doesn't floor you, there is something seriously wrong with your mind and your soul.
I've seen 2 or 3 reactions (out of dozens, maybe close to 100 now) who didn't get it. Who dismissed it as 'not my sort of thing' or 'I wouldn't listen to it again'. I'll never watch those reactors again. I've disagreed with reactors before, but not feeling this? makes me suddenly uninterested in anything they have to say.
Haha you know, that's EXACTLY what I've been thinking in watching a bunch of reactions to it!! If someone's just nonchalant and like "yeah it's cool" or something similar, I'm like, yep they're probably a sociopath, or at the very least, a narcissist lol. Just discovered Ren. Amazing artist. The line in this song “She sells sea shells” , comes from his song “Money Game Part 1 and 2” just one of a number of amazing songs I’ve heard from him so far along with “Dear God” , “Life is Funny” , “Ready for You” , and “Everybody Drops”.
Check out his collab with Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines. Also very powerful...and his song, Power. It's great! Thanks for the reaction to #HiRen I only recently discovered him when Hi Ren dropped and it's been a fantastic rabbit hole to go down!
Such a powerful song, ballad.,,, (?) that I think we can all relate to on some level , living on this mental asylum of a planet we’re on. Such an incredible talent!

Leaves you speechless, doesn't it? Very powerful and profound. I've only seen this once before now, so I have to be honest, I got Ren confused with someone else and almost did not watch this. Before I hit play, I read the comments here and thought, maybe I missed something? I’ve listen to Ren in Big Push for sometime now and absolutely have loved their music. But this right here is brilliant and honest, I can get enough of this 👏🏽
This reminds me of the 1st time I heard Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Mercy Seat back in '88. That was also a very powerful song & it also is a very unique vid. Check it out. I love all types of music but when someone like Ren comes along, it's kind of what I live for. It's like discovering Bowie for the 1st time( in 1973 when I was 13.) 🤟🔥❗
Shout out from NORTHERN IRELAND 🇬🇧☘️ !!!! I love your show and I love this track !!! I’m SO glad that Ren is gettin’ out there !!! Much love to y’all !
I don't like rap, not for me at all BUT this has blown me away. The message and skill and tone gave me goose bumps. I only heard this song today, linked from Annihilator, a band that has part inspired this song by the look of it. Awesome stuff. I'm spreading it as much as I can too, this shit is important.
I've always thought that instead of "not liking" a genre, it just means you haven't found an artist in that genre that you connect with. And you've found that connection now :)
The artist that immediately came to my mind was NF, since he also does these "internal dialogues". I don't mean that as a dig, though, this is absolutely brilliant.
The movie is Split and James McAvoy was incredible in it. The entire Unbreakable movie series is really good but that one was super dark and my favorite
His singing kind of reminded me of Tiny Tim. And I met him. Tiny Tim was a joke. This guy is serious. I hadn't like a new artist in a while. I like this guy.
Love this track, and love watching people react to it. Cheers! Man. And Ren is smart, taking the time to acknowledge those reacting to his video. Good on him. It helps everyone involved.
Another great reaction as always. I only recently learned about Ren and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. I can personally relate to many of his songs, and they deeply touch me. Ren is an incredible and unique artist; he plays multiple instruments, has great vocal ability, and is an excellent storyteller, and quite the philosopher and poet. His videos are shot live, all in one take by his friend, from what I read about him. I recommend you check out some of his other work. The trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" is haunting and has an unexpected ending; watch them in the stated order, as this is the flow of the storyline. It is a another example of Ren’s genius. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation. If you like his personal reflections, they are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. As a solo act, Ren performs a range of genres, much of it hip-hop/rap influenced, as well as guitar-based ballads. His collaborations with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling”), with Chinchilla (“How to Be Me,” “Chalk Outlines”), and his performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren has impressive vocal and instrumental skills. He is one-of-a-kind and appears mature beyond his years. Ren will be releasing his latest single, “Sick Boi,” on January 19. He is currently in Canada for more treatments but said that he prepared a lot of music ahead of time to be released over the next 12 months that he expects to be gone.
Thank you so much for doing this one! I think I'm the one who asked you for it during the live feed! Ren is a freaking genius! He can do it all, he has been through a whole lot, and he is on his way to wherever he wants to go next. His music is already changing the world! Thank you for this beautiful reaction! And thank you so much for Keeping Good Music Alive!!! I love seeing people react to this one because I know how much it blew me away and I was already familiar with his stuff. Goosebumps aplenty with this one for sure! Stay Grateful. Stay Blessed. Much Love ❤❤❤❤❤
Love the vid and the reaction! I've watched a few reactions so far to this same video. I just noticed something. I think, and I could be wrong, that he's using the lights on two different sides to cast the two shadows beside himself to again represent the two sides of himself that are at war with one another. The flickering of the lights seem to only occur when his darker side is singing, showing that there is an imbalance between the two sides. At the end, when his darker side is becoming more intense, the lights are flickering at an increased pace to show how much pressure and strain there is in that moment as if something is about to give. However, when he stands up and talks about hope, both lights are strong and create balance and seems that he has won against the chaos. He then goes into the outro melody right after and the lights start to flicker again. I wonder if this was intentional. It almost seems to show that after he conquered his darker thoughts when singing about hope, the cycle of doubt repeats itself and never goes away as the lights flicker once more...it just swings like a pendulum. Damn....what a song. What a video. What an artist.
Unfortunately, he is about to undergo months of medical treatments when his career should be booming. I can only pray that Ren will recover fully and be able to share his gift with may live.
this video hits home in so many ways, we all have our inner struggles. think with reactions and watching the original video I am up to around 20 times/and this is soooo eye opening. so incredible, and thanks so much for the reaction. both well done

This song and video blows minds all day, every day. Perfection.
I’m glad I could be part of your live stream and protecting your channel double checked, and I have you marked as all announcements…. I’ve always enjoyed your channel, and when you brought your brothers into the fold man, those were some funny ass videos, as always peace, love, joy, and hope to you and yours.
The "just be a good human" hat and this song. Omg it's amazing
*THAT WASN’T A SONG THAT WAS A JOURNEY*
*HIS SOUL LAYED BARE FOR ALL TO SEE*
*I’VE NEVER DREAMED TO EVER BE THAT HONEST*
*AWARD WINNING SONG IT SHOULD BE*
I’ve listen to Ren in Big Push for sometime now and absolutely have loved their music. But this right here is brilliant and honest, I can get enough of this 👏🏽
Im convinced that Ren has been inside my head....except i cant sing, rap or play guitar lol
he is the only one telling some truth
Peaky Blinders? This dude is a true creative, true talent.
This reminds me of the 1st time I heard Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Mercy Seat back in '88. That was also a very powerful song & it also is a very unique vid. Check it out. I love all types of music but when someone like Ren comes along, it's kind of what I live for.
It's like discovering Bowie for the 1st time( in 1973 when I was 13.) 🤟🔥❗
Ren hit #1 in the UK a week or 2 ago, and he's charting here in the States too. He's a genius, and a breathe of fresh air.
Such genius, such talent...yet, more people know of Beiber! The World is upside down!
Excellent reaction to an epic song! I chuckled because right at the end, you remembered Split. lol
Congratulations on 1 million subs. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Peace!
Shout out from NORTHERN IRELAND 🇬🇧☘️ !!!! I love your show and I love this track !!! I’m SO glad that Ren is gettin’ out there !!! Much love to y’all !
Holy Shit! Everything about this video is powerful! Visually, musically, lyrically fucking awesome!
@@auracle6184 Closest I've ever been was The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy a few decades back. Tried recently and couldn't get back in there.
The artist that immediately came to my mind was NF, since he also does these "internal dialogues". I don't mean that as a dig, though, this is absolutely brilliant.
Please hang in there! You gonna want to cut it off, Please DO Not!!! Is worth it!
3:08 Jamel's face before the song really kicks in 😂
There is good and evil in all of us. Some people just listen to the evil more than the good. This is the truth.
Now you need to do the trilogy Tale of JENNY AND Screech
The movie is Split and James McAvoy was incredible in it. The entire Unbreakable movie series is really good but that one was super dark and my favorite
“She sells sea shells” line is about a song of his called “Money Game”. His flow is on point!!
His singing kind of reminded me of Tiny Tim. And I met him. Tiny Tim was a joke. This guy is serious. I hadn't like a new artist in a while. I like this guy.
"Is he singing or rapping?" Yes
So cool that REN commented on your reaction!!!
Someone called him The Minstrel of Torture. A poet screaming from the pit.
Love this track, and love watching people react to it. Cheers! Man. And Ren is smart, taking the time to acknowledge those reacting to his video. Good on him. It helps everyone involved.
HOLY SHIT!!! That gave me goosebumps! What a brilliant talented young man!
One man and his guitar. Amazing talent and artistry ❤
THIS WAS A TRIPP I'M WAY TOO SOBER AND AT WORK TO GET HIM RIGHT NOW
Most of us have this inner voice and for those that don't there's always the internet comments to break you if you step out of line.
His video with his friend in a garage ramp in priceless. Hope you see it.
Sam Tompkins
Much Love
❤❤❤❤❤
This is a real artist.
Chills all over my spine
Totally agree it is truly grasping...real piece of art that's mind-blowing.
Great reaction..one of the better ones.. I'm 50 years old I haven't seen anything like ren. Looked into him.genius......
Hopefully his music heals him and helps others.
Unfortunately being treated by a snake oil salesman
I also enjoyed his twist on Bob Marley’s “I shot the sheriff”, you should check that out
The film you’re thinking of in the beginning was Split with James McAvoy!
this video hits home in so many ways, we all have our inner struggles. think with reactions and watching the original video I am up to around 20 times/and this is soooo eye opening. so incredible, and thanks so much for the reaction. both well done
