Hey guys, I originally made these youtube videos to help my classmates before a Calculus 2 test that we had 3 years ago. But seeing how far it blew up really encouraged me! Hello, not sure if u ll read my message but first thank you so much for your vids, I paased with an A this semester and you are a portion of the reason that made that happen. For now I would like to ask you, are you using these calculus stuff in your daly life?? Or is it just for us in the uni to take them in calculus and just forget them after a while? (I’m serious) So what’s the point of all that? Just so we get good grades and forget about it after a couple of years (considering Imma do computer stuff unrelated to Volunes). I mean yes the topic is interesting and logical, but... I ALWAYS THINK THIS WAY EVEN AFTER HAVING STUDIED PHYSICS!!! I WILL NOT BE USING THEM WHYY DO I NOT JUST TAKE THE THINGS THAT I WILL REALLY REALLY USE IN MY WORK IN THE FUTURE??
No other tutorial I found mentioned how to do shell when the strip is above or to the right of the rotating axis, you have saved my calculus grade, thank you

Its 2021 any gender / race can pursue a STEM career. I'm a woman in one of the poorest states in the country and doing great in my STEM career. Stop focusing on people's race/gender when they're doing something good and just look at everyone as people & their accomplishments. Maybe then our country wouldn't be so divisive.

I’m currently a math tutor for kids k-12 right now in real life but I’m still on the search for a stem job in real life. Maybe one day I’ll make a q & a video or FAQ video with little facts about me! @@arim2607 yeah I agree. I get that representation matters and all, and I get where the other commenter was coming from and whatnot, but I agree with you too. Sometimes people do focus too much on race and whatnot instead of accomplishments (and this is even coming from a black girl). All in all, ultimately, its about the accomplishments, not the color of someone’s skin. And anyone can suffer regardless of race due to other circumstances, such as being in states that deal with poverty like you said. Good luck with everything you’re going through though! I’m happy you’re doing well in your stem career. Continue to prosper!

If one of the equations is given in y= something and the other equation is given in x= something, how do you know to use a vertical or horizontal slice?? Please help!
For the disk and washer method, can you also apply if you are given for ex: y=x^2. The trick that y = something about x is a vertical slice? Also what if you are given: Y=4x and x= 3x^2. about the x axis. What do I do?

Hey so I looked into your question and here's the answer. Sorry it took me so long to respond! Yes, for the disk and washer method, you can also apply if you are given for ex: y=x^2. And yes it will be y = something about x is a vertical slice. Similarly, x = y^2 will be x = something about y is a vertical slice. If you are given Y=4x and x= 3x^2. about the x axis: the equation "y=4x" will be rotating about the y axis for disk and washer method. For the equation "x= 3x^2"....I'm assuming you mean x = 3y^2 , because if you did x= 3x^2 and solved algebraically, you would get x = (1/3) and that's a constant, not a function including y. Anyway, if you did x= 3y^2, then it will be a horizontal slice. This is because it would rotate about the x axis. You would follow the same steps to solve something like this, except for x = f(y) = 3y^2, and for disk it would be pi * the integral of f(y) dy, and the integral boundaries are from a to b. Same with washer except you would have 2 equations, such as f(y) and g(y), for example. Hope this helps!
