HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Hey there are you sensational subs back again for a nice Nordic gold melt. The first mold didn't work so I redid it to get a nice piece. It started off pretty ugly but it came out perfect. I'm top of that I did a heap of coins from a woodchip wagon brass nut . I wonder if using a pickling solution to rinse your copper would give you cleaner melts?
Granted you would have to do it a couple weeks before a melt to make sure there was no moisture left hidden somewhere in the raw materials afterward.

Copper Tin and Zinc is actually an old recipe that used to be known as gun metal way back in the day. It was one of the primary casting materials used on old bronze cannons and it has this absolutely wonderful deep bronze color that weathers to a rich golden brown. It's not as yellow as your nordic gold but it's still very pretty, I'd highly encourage you to make some if at all possible or if you'd be interested.
The recipe was usually somewhere along the lines of Copper 85, Tin 12.5, zinc 2.5

      @@bigstackD Hi bigstackD,
I have “found” a way to involve both scrap copper and brass making Nordic Gold, as long as the brass contains more than 6% zinc.
      For example:
If the brass contains 60% Cu and 40% Zn, then 81.5% copper, 12.5% brass, 5% aluminum, 1% tin works.
If the brass contains 75% Cu and 25% Zn, then 74% copper, 20% brass, 5% aluminum, 1% tin works.
In general, if the zinc content of the brass is Z%, then the recipe is:
      (94 - 500/Z)% copper, (500/Z)% brass, 5% aluminum, 1% tin.

    Metallurgical fun facts:
    - Adding 10% calcium prevents certain magnesium alloys from being a fire hazard.
    - Lithium can actually increase the strength of aluminum alloys, since lithium atoms slot themselves very nicely in an aluminum lattice.
    - Magnesium likes to do the same with titanium.
    - Aluminum, carbon and manganese can become magnetic when combined into a single alloy.
    - Adding a bit of aluminum to gold can turn it purple.

@@joshschneider9766 I mean it's a bunch of cheap metals, the only reason it'd be more expensive than say brass is economy of scale. After all, zinc, tin, and aluminum are fairly cheap metals to acquire as far as alloys go.

The way you pretend to keep ribs in odd areas, reminds me of a prank I played on my friend after school one day.
I left a frying pan in my freezer while I went to school. Then when we came home (he would usually come to my house after school), I took it out of the freezer and put it on the stove before he could see. Then I turned on the stove fire, when he was looking. I took the pan off the fire then put it on his arm and he yelled like I burned him even though the pan was ice cold!
