- The Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, now owned and operated by Dreamscape, is undergoing major renovations. The company's founder and CEO, Eric Birnbaum, discusses his vision for the property in an in-depth interview with Vegas Revealed. Birnbaum plans to restore the Rio to its former glory, with renovations already completed on 1500 rooms, the pool deck, and a new food hall. The casino floor is currently being remodeled, and a new bar and restaurant are set to open soon. Birnbaum also mentioned the possibility of developing the 22 acres of excess land that comes with the property, potentially for a sports venue. The Rio's long-standing shows, including Penn and Teller and Chippendales, will remain part of the hotel's entertainment portfolio.

Yes!! Another Vote for bringing back the Show in the Sky!!! I used to go to the RIO just to see that Show!!
🎉
I stayed at The Rio last week. I had of lot of stuff to do during my stay so I didn't explore much of the casino and restaurants, but the room was top notch. 100% planning to stay there again. Keep up the good work,😎😎😎😎😎😎
Thanks for sharing!
I was proud to be involved in the early beginning of the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. I was tasked with leading the assemblage of land for the initial phase its development. It was an exciting transactional experience which lead to its development. Happy to see the Lady getting a quality renovation!
Feel like that 22 acres should be the A's stadium, not where the Trop is.
Help this outstanding citizen with his vision about the RIO Hotel
Fun interview. I hope they bring back the show in the sky, or something like it. I hope they remodel the sports book, or at least add bigger screens. I know I’m blind, and can’t see distances too well, but the current tv’s are way too small. I also hope they bring back the gift shop in some form. I was sad to see it gone, replaced by a big Starbucks. A sports/big entertainment venue could be cool at Rio. They have so much unused space there. I remember once going to a music festival in the parking lot, but I’m not sure there are enough outdoor festivals to just keep it undeveloped. I think they need some sort of building. I’d love an outdoor amphitheater. I know there’s supposedly one going south of the strip, but it’d be cool to have one there. I love going to outdoor shows, & if anything, there is no place for it anymore, now that the Henderson amphitheater (and the one at Red Rock, which was blink and you missed it) is no more.
It’s nice to see there are changes in place and coming soon! We will keep you updated. Thanks for watching!
I've never been to the Rio and have only viewed it from a distance. I hope they get that land bridge built.Connecting to the strip is the only way to assure its success. I look forward to the end product.
Excellent interview Dayna & Sean!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Appreciate the feedback.
I wish some company like Dreamscape with good intentions to revitalize it had bought Tropicana instead the Bally's company. We just stayed at Rio for 5 nights and it was wonderful. I have always been a Rio fan, and hope they thrive in this new era. Dreamscape seems to have a solid plan.
We hope for the best too! We only want the best for our city and at least there’s a vision and plans in the works and happening now. It will be a great property for those on more of a budget.
One smart New Yorker!
Just seen u guys on TV 😊 Best Wishes & Good Luck to The RIO
Thanks for watching!!
I KNEW RIO WOULD MAKE A BIG COMEBACK ...Been saying it for years!
A coffee pot in each room would be appreciated
This new owner looks very young! But then again the new trend of m/billionaires are also very young! I think he should take the extra 22 acre land and turn it into some kind of amusement/theme park(something I think Vegas needs) it will attract a lot more customers and bring back the 90's- early 00's vibe when it was a family friendly destination(I miss the 90's-00's Vegas reminiscing back as a kid) since there will always gonna be friends, families, and especially little kids that are totally down for we're all kids at heart! I really miss the old Vegas from the 90's in the early millenium!
Thanks for watching! And for your thoughts!
Ok i agree.. buffets need to comeback.. im totally into good food, but people have this thing or notion that vegas was a place for good value.. and buffets were it.. rio, which i visited a few times once for the dance club, and then once for the buffet because it at one time was famous.. now i stay downtown.. loving circa but i also love main Street station.. so find that niche.. good luck
I hope they keep the buffet 🙂 really good food!
Great interview 👏🏻
The buffet has been gone since covid. They just recently opened up a food hall in its' place
thanks for watching!
They should renovate the Trop. also
The Trop closed earlier this month.
it should get fixed and not demolished
They have tried for years.
It will need every penny!
A free shuttle bus to Rio from the strip might help get more traffic in the casino and restaurants .
Rio was my home base in the 90's and they did have a shuttle that was very useful.
The Rio should consider a Brazilian Restaurant to complement its theme.
Hope he brings the shuttle back. The walk to the strip is not far but rough on hot days and hard to do multiple times per day. The 202 bus is a good alternative but the shuttle would be more convenient
Buffet brind it back better, always on my list visit Las Vegas
They aren’t bringing it back. There’s the issue of leaving food out & food safety so they opted for a food hall with lots of choices, orders made fresh.
What decision he made to be able to be so successful at a young age.. whoa! I made the wrong decisions with friends and life.. but not too late 😢
Shame that Caesars ran the property into the ground. They left the rooms in the original tower untouched from early 2000. There Masquerade village area and rooms were just let go and no work done to that since it was built. I hope that Dreamscape can refresh and move the place into 2025 and bring it back to life.
Coffee pots in rooms
Rio needs cameras in the hotel hallways, stat. Memories of robberies will not fade fast enough
Yes! are they adding security & surveillance???
What is is a lot of construction inside Rio
what do you mean?
They should demolished the RIO for the stadium instead of the Tropicana.
It was probably time for the Trop to go anyway.
So….. this is a commercial. Not fooling anyone.
Vegas Revealed is a legitimate podcast and TV show that does not accept payment in return for coverage. This interview is of much interest to Las Vegas residents and visitors. The interview was scheduled, in part, because of the volume of inquiries we have received about the Rio.
@@VegasRevealed I stand by my statement. There was no objectivity, no hard questions, your mission was clear: promote Rio. If you want to prostitute yourself in that manner, so be it.
@@taxpayer6079 it’s an entertainment show, not 20/20. He’s the new owner making changes, the past has nothing to do with him. The show focuses on what changes are expected. Thanks for watching!
@@VegasRevealed I’ll buy that. Well said.
Dining here sucks
Food halls suck and nobody wants them
No buffets- stupid
No shows
Pool sucks
No spa
Again
This place will close in a year
They have a lot of shows. They just upgraded the pool.
It does seem like the new ownership will not commit to a new buffet nor a renewed Show in the Sky.
@@seascape35 No to the buffet. They did the food hall instead. They think times have changed and people don't like food sitting out anymore.
@@VegasRevealed Maybe you are right about people's taste changing away from open food with the pandemic and all, but even I as a germaphobe, I sure miss the glory days of the Rio's wonderful buffet.
@@seascape35 we loved it too! Those were the days!
