  • Overview, test, inspection and disassembly of a nice orange dialled Doxa Automatic Sub 300T Dive watch.
First day back at the bench after just over 3 weeks layup due to severe back pains and a nice steady one to ease back into, so far the back is behaving.

Absolutely brilliant, I’m so glad you have covered this movement as I have 2 of the eta 2783 to service, although there is some videos on them I’d much prefer your videos as a back up when I get to work on my movements,
The 2 eta2783 I have are in some lovely 70’s Accurist watches I have they used good quality gear in their watches I’ve got several Accurist’s now because of the quality, I praying and hoping you manage to find the time to film the reassembly for this lovely old doxa not just because of it being a tutorial but I’d really like to see it back in all its glory, I’ve joined the Fb group you admin in and what friendly bunch of guys in there. Cheers mate 🙏😉👍👏

Thanks and I hope this proves useful to you.
Hopefully I'll film the reassembly even if it's just as is. What will be done depends on the owner but ideally there's a few bits of the train I'd like to replace.

Looking for help. I have this same watch and am looking to get it repaired as currently the stem doesn’t wind the watch correctly. Also looking to get the luminous paint reapplied to the crown as it’s rubbed off over the years.
Been in contact with DOXA direct who say they no longer make the parts for this watch and won’t repair any watch over 10 years old.
Hoping you do this for a living and could help me out or possibly point me in the right direction of a trusted watch repaired hopefully in the UK.
    Many thanks.

Hi, I do indeed service watches (In addition to a day job) though I'm working through a backlog to clear some time for my own projects but I'd be happy to discuss it with you.
It's common for older models to not be supported by the manufacturer after a number of years.

The centre seconds pinion might polish up with some of that eveflex I’ve just ordered a couple of sticks from eBay in fine and medium abrasion to try it. Do you use it?

I do yes. Very useful things. If you don't have the purpose made holder you can chuck them in a pin vice.
I use mainly the medium and fine grits and they're handy for flat surfaces too, used like a pencil eraser but you have graining from it.

@@splootan I haven't been inside one of the newer ones but I'd imagine they're using either an ETA or Sellita so unlikely.
