- You can get better performance on PS5 easily if you just do this & change these settings now! First thing is to change your PlayStation 5 default setting to Performance Mode.. Next, go to your Video Output Settings & make sure VRR, 120hz, & ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) are all set to Automatic - then go to your Network Settings for PS5 & hit the "Options" button on the registered network & set to "5Ghz Only".. Now to save TONS of space on your PS5 SSD, go to your Capture & Broadcasts Settings & set "Auto Capture Trophies" to Gold & Platinum PSN Trophies ONLY. You can also disable Auto Capture Challenge Videos to save even MORE space. Next, use Safe Mode to clear the system cache & rebuild database. I also recommend upgrading your PS5 with an M.2 SSD for faster load times & BETTER frame rates for PS5 games. Lastly, remember to use Rest Mode on PS5. ONLY CHANGE TO 5ghz IF YOU ARE NEAR THE ROUTER
Was looking for this comment and didn't have to look far! For those who don't know 5ghz travels worse through walls etc. than 2.4
So if my router is on the opposite side of the wall to my PS5 should I leave it at automatic or do 2.4 GHz? Or would 5 GHz still work in my case?
@@AntivenomOW I'm not sure, I just looked it up and the article I read states 5 ghz just has a shorter range so maybe I was wrong. In that case you should be fine but maybe do some research
@@thomaskleingoldewijk2980 ok thank you!
But 2.4 has a worse connection so do with that what you will for me my router is 2 floors directly below my ps5 and it connects fine
Great vid 👌 cheers
Thank You Very Much! Great tips and tricks.
Thanks for sharing…!
Thanks for this man👍👍
I purchased the WD external drive a while back, and have my entire games library stored on there. Makes a heck of a difference in speed performance on the PS5.
I don’t understand how. Can you explain please?
Thanks John!
Last Suggestion was great..
Some hit and miss tips here. Good information for a PS5 newbie (not sure how many of those are left).
Great tips. Ty. Question, the database reset won’t affect any of the games or saved data right? Only the PS system data?
Nope. So it's safe to do.
Yeah that won’t hurt anything like that. I used to do it on ps4 whenever I had some weird issue with booting a game
What Headset is that in The video?
Thank you
I already knew this already John lol 😂 but thanks for the tip bro 😎
what hdmi cable are you using? and why?
Will you actually get more frames by installing an external SSD? I heard of boot times and of course more storage but I' haven't heard anything about additional frames...
No.
Installing an external SSD has zero affect on load times and fps.
I won’t add anymore frames. Load times maybe, depending on the SSD you put in. The one I have in mine is slightly faster but who notices a quarter second faster loading time anyway over the internal one.
It doesn't increase fps but absolutely increases load times depending on whether or not the ssd has better specs than the internal one. I can vouch for the western digital ssd in the video, Sony teamed up with them to produce it.
Hey buddy...the Playstation hdmi u have, DOES IT TRULLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Different HDMI cables (cheap or expensive) make no difference in quality or performance. Only the cable (durable, length, look and feel, materials) itself
I also have one too bro 😎
@@nickr8647that’s true bro 😎 for sure 👍
As long as you have a high speed HDMI 2.1 cable(48gbps) it doesn’t who the cable is from
Only if it's a 2.1 which came with the console anyway
well, i have a ps4 pro i do not have a ps5 yet and for internet i use the wired option because it works better than wifi because when i use wifi the wifi always fails.
Adding an additional SSD does not have any affect on load times or fps. Bro tried to sneak that one in there lol
Yeah, I was wondering WTF? Is he trying to say the WD_BLACK is better than the internal SSD soldered to the motherboard?
Umm…..
Yup, sloppy video in general. Rest mode is also known to cause problems to many PS5 users.
Well technically it can. If the internal ssd is full, the ps will run a slight bit worse due to having less space to work with. The same goes for pc's. So storing your games on an extra ssd, and keeping the OG ssd as empty as possible does not give it a boost. But it will make sure that it doesnt get slower
@@disguisedlizard8681 oh ffs
How does having bigger storage help speed up the console?
2:03 I have one of those
A while ago, my PS5 would sometimes stutter horribly in any game, and I couldn't figure out why. I tried everything with no success, but then I ran the "repair console storage" and that seemed to work. Still hasn't come back.
If you have external storage such as an external HDD or SSD to put games on it it does not mix well with rest mode because when you turn on your PS5 to get out of rest mode, it gives you an error that the console was not powered off properly despite being in rest mode and has to automatically rebuild database. Surprised Sony has not fixed that problem yet.
How much free space should you be aiming to have on your storage for the best performance?
I bought a used PS5 (GOWR edition, disc) and when I started downloading Xdefiant, the connection for loading assets (like pictures and video media) was so slow! Sometimes I could even see pixelated images on the screen (like the game advertisement banners). As soon as I paused all downloads, it went back to normal. This is bizarre because I used to own a launch day PS5 but this never happened to me (I am using a wired Ethernet connection).
Its not just the ps5 settings you mentioned its weather you have decent Internet as well im on a 1gb speed package with my provider and since January 2024 my download speed test hasn't been up to 500 something MBs so i called my provider they sent out a speed specialist he tested my signal and he said my signal was way above than normal range so he went to the nearby box altered the signal to normal and im getting 500 something MBs again plus ive noticed my games are running better again
Woah haven't watched your channel in 6 months since I was forced to sell my PS5
funny how he just drops all his games in the beginning
My ps5 runs gamea flawlessly. I dont use internal storage to play my games. My internal ssd is blank and only os ps5 use is installed on it. On the other hand i purchased external m.2 drive the fastest available at the moment with huge cooler and run my games from there. I cant tell if games are loading faster or not but what i can say for fact my fps are constat and there are no frame drops. Try it. Format internal storage and use 2nd drive.
Important question: will the psn account get banned if it's in several consoles?
having trouble with change settings (options on you resgester network) how to get that?
I had a Firecuda m.2 ssd in my ps5 and it worked great for months then one system update completely stopped the ps5 from recognising the ssd. Any suggestions on how to solve this?
I used the rest mode tip on ps4 and still leave my ps5 in rest mode. The problem is, my PS5 rarely actually downloads updates in rest mode. No problems downloading games, but it sucks that I have the setting turned on and it 90% of the time just ignores updates and I’m waiting to play games bc of it
Same
My PS5 downloads updates even when it's off. There are times it does things I didn't even notice.
@@VengeDracul
Your ps5 operates when it has no power supplied to it? Is that some new Bluetooth energy
@@caleb__mtz Yes, no power on, it still updates. It does this all the time. It updates for games or firmware. If I knew I would tell you. I lost count how often it happens. My PS5 is off right now as I type this. I am sure it doing something LMAO. I swear my PS5 has a mind of it's own. LOL. I am not even joking. There has been times I have turned it on a new Update has hit the PS5 and it's already downloaded it and installed it. I rarely put my PS5 in Sleep mode.
Hi John, where did u get your headset stand from?
What exactly does the "Rebuild Database" option do?
It's defragmentation. I'm not an expert, but as far as I know, this is a good idea if you're using HDDs, which the PS5 does not. Defragmenting SSDs is usually not recommended.
And simple terms basically you're just resetting the software on the PS5
@@VG-vggamingto50, ok.
It's basically a soft reset.
Holding down the power button only turned it on and off.I never got a second beep oh well I actually had some of these done
I use 5 ghz becuse I do not play wirelessly not for any kind of multiplayer basically anything and I keep controller plugged in most of the time as well since I'm at a monitor and desk nice to not have lag almost forgot what it is or what it's like lmao or controller for at worst time in middle of an event on 76 or boss on Elden ring or ranked play on cod
Does ALLM and vrr really help that much for fps becuase I head one of these settings help with stopping the blur from getting low frames
If this is true could some one say 👍
allm has nothing to do with fps, it just automatically turns your tv to game mode (less input lag), and vrr just uncaps your FPS
John Glasscock when my ps5 is in rest mode it does not continue to download or upgrade the game I choose. How do I fix that?
To be honest I don't even know how you may want to try to rebuild your consoles database or whatever it's called and you just do it by going into safe mode
Also may check your settings for storage
Why does my PS5 controller have the number 1B isn't it supposed to have 1A?
Can someone please tell me what that means
I hope the PS6 is backwards compatible with all the PlayStation consoles Sony made, with a choice between performance mode or resolution mode. I would also hope there is an option for CRT filters for PS1 and PS2 games.
That would be amazing if Sony could pull all that off, I would pay a premium for that...At the very least I hope the PS6 has a disc drive and will play PS4 and PS5 games.
@@Maximusbyronusyou’ll be pleased to know they released details about PS6 and it will be backward compatible from the first PS console up to PS5. All games will run at 30fps in full 1080pa resolution.
@@LethalMartialArtist Who is they? Sony? I don't see any official details, just speculation. That'd be cool though.
One question fire cuda or wd-black?
I have a 2tb Samsung one and it’s just as if good if not better
Is the same thing, the ps5 have cap limit to 6500 speed
Samsung 990 Pro 2Tb with heat sink
Best to focus on storage over which is better. The speed has a cap on it. For all SsDs. No matter how fast it is.
Actually there is 1 more change , boost mode

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how to speed up my ps5 when I turn it on? Every time I put the console on it, it takes some time for it to let me click on a game or anything on the ps5 home page? Slow setting up the console?
Doesn't rebuild data base and clearing cache delete all the games/ saves on the harddrive and you have to manually login again?
no
2:53 what was that lol
He's always done it at the end of his videos. It took me a while to catch it. Look at some of his other videos, and you'll see. It's quite funny lol
Knew all that 4 years ago
Well I didn't I just got a ps5 3 weeks and 2 months and 3 years ago 🙃
Roadhouse
Downloading stuff hasn't affected me. Same with PS4.
Nice.
If you leave the PS5 in rest mode and a power storm or an outage hits, your PS5 is gone. So it is not safe to leave your PS5 in rest mode. I don't know what this guy is talking about
Only if you don’t have a back up battery connected to it then your safe if you don’t have a safety device for your console then yes turn it off but if you have a outlet that keeps charge for situations like that your safe
I never leave it on rest more unless im downloading something charging my phone or the controllers
true this happened to me a week after getting my ps5, luckily sony exchanged it
@@Junior-bi6mowhat if you leave the house for hours? Unless you are willing to buy an expensive battery that last hours, rest mode isn’t worth it. But yes everyone should have a battery even if it last 10 minutes
You should turn off your PS5 in a lightning storm but it isn't going to necessarily brick your console if it happens. A surge protector can help and as long as you aren't downloading something you should be fine. Also it's not power loss that causes damage it's the surge of power that runs through when it comes back on so just unplug it from the outlet and you will be fine.
5GZ only is no bueno and the router is in my room.
Always use an UPS if you’re gonna leave your console in rest mode.
What's a ups buddy?
@@DAT-TEXAS-DUDE UPS or Uninterruptible power supply. Basically if your PS5 is connected to that and the power goes out or your breaker shuts off you will then have ample time to turn off your console safely.
@@johnnyjets2343
Surge protectors work great to
@@DAT-TEXAS-DUDE they protect from power surges. A UPS however lets you still use the console or PC, whatever machine you are using still even when the power goes out and you would have up to 20-30 mins at least to safely power down your device.
@@johnnyjets2343
Meant to say a surge protector buddy
The author of this video is poorly informed. Switching to 5G doesn't necessarily improve download speeds as the signal doesn't penetrate walls etc as well as 2.4GHz.
You test if it's better first, then decide which is best. Same comment regarding the addition to an SSD, that's probably not going to result in better performance.
Man the quality of his videos is dropping steadily. I think the problem is he's out of ideas, recycles old tips and now... just tell garbage that he hasn't researched well. It's a shame, I used to love this channel.
How to get 0 delay on ps 5
Saver from kids saying first

Nice ❤
You dont need to Rebuild the Database (which is basically Defragging your hard drive) because its not necessary to defrag SSD's, and you could actually ruin your SSD if you defrag it too much.
Good God man, why are you talking so fast? I had to put speed settings to half speed to follow the instructions
If you cannot keep up, when you tap the screen (phone), the video will pause. Then tap again to resume.
😂 sorry, couldn’t help myself 😅
Step one: Own a ps5
We are getting 500$ energy bill with this one
Why the voice seems familiar... Are you VaatiVidya?

So much misinformation its insane
Adding an ssd WILL NOT speed up load times or increase frame rates. The PS5 already has an internal ssd, one that runs much better than any ssd you can buy for it. What he said in the video is a flat out lie.
There's faster ssd than the ps5 one in the market
It's possible he was just wrong. "Lie" implies he was deliberately putting out bad information.
You feel better?
No! Wifi ethernet no! Bad people..
Most people have no choice but to use wifi as there room is too far away from there internet routers.
Don’t use a toaster as a router/ap and you won’t have any issues. It’s 2024 not 2004.
