  • This video is dedicated to my father who passed away this morning. He taught me how to make the firewood and although I loathed it as a kid here I am making it in record time. God bless and happy Mothers day to all of the moms out there!

    A lot of work, must feel good when you’re ready for next season. It always surprises me how much less a stack of firewood makes compared to a loose pile.

      It feels great and honestly so do I. That is a lot of physical work for a week straight and it highlighterd some areas that could use some work on my body too. Have a great week!

    Awesome team work A & P. I was really keeping an eye on those two supervisors seemed to be doing a lot of laying down on the job! I see the pesky flies are already out there too yet it’s still cold….

    • @alaskacutthecord769
      @alaskacutthecord769  Před 15 dny

      Yeah the supervisors weren't a whole lot of help. They aren't even the flies yet it was the Mosquitos. Wow, do they suck this year so far. Have a great mothers day and the rest of your week!

    So sorry to hear of your loss, but also impressed at your efforts. Firewood is essential to life as we know it and it looks like you're well prepared and can rest easy, working on all the other tasks that so quickly fill up the short summer here.

    I was just talking to my dad about this, how many times a piece of wood is handled, cutting, hauling out, splitting, stacking, restacked at camp or sauna to be enjoyed, glad this chore is done for you

    • @alaskacutthecord769
      @alaskacutthecord769  Před 15 dny +1

    Wow what a great wood yard you have. That was some pretty tight stacking there Phyllis . The high speed hand splitting was hard to watch , looked like some hands got pretty close to the wrong end of that axe .

    • @alaskacutthecord769
      @alaskacutthecord769  Před 15 dny

      Phyllis does pretty darn good at the stacking for sure. I noticed that too in the high speed. All fingers are intact.😁

    Firewood is better than money in the bank. How does the birch burn compared to pine? In our neck of the woods people love burning yellow cedar unless they are smoking and then alder is the wood of choice

    • @alaskacutthecord769
      @alaskacutthecord769  Před 15 dny +1

      Back in WI we liked Birch for the smell and long lasting. Here it's the same and the only hardwood that we have. We don't like it for the amount of soot that the birch bark puts off. It can plug a chimney quickly but it lasts all night long. Spruce is hot and relatively fast but not like red or white pine which seems to last only minutes and the pine burns clean. Relatively, that is.
