- With the hybrid market seeing a slight decline over the years, Hyundai chooses an interesting time to introduce their first-ever dedicated hybrid vehicle, the 2017 Ioniq. With 3 different versions, the all-electric model offers up a usable 124 miles of range, fun-to-drive dynamics, spirited acceleration, and a roomy cabin. It's a must drive for those looking for an alternative to gasoline vehicles. Just be sure you're in California for now and Hyundai also plans to extend the range to over 200 miles for the 2018 model year.
This car should get a bunch of extra points just for the fact that it doesn't look insane.
yah but it doesn't look good either
yeah but also doesnt have much stupid fake vents
@@super117knight True
I agree
Conservative styling but not boring
Just LOVE this car. Cheap to drive, great price on the top model. The only drawback is a touch too much wheel noise and no roof rack options.
It's not tesla so don't expect quiet tyre. you can change with the most quiets tyre on the market though.
One of the best EVs, and cars in general.
The Lavender Town Project 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
4:14 motors are rated by either horsepower or kilowatts. "Kilowatt hour" is a unit of energy.
10:04 the "driveshaft tunnel" is present on most cars because it gives the unibody more rigidity.
Great review, Sofyan! I just recently reviewed the Ioniq Hybrid, and I was pleasantly impressed with the space, safety, and value of the Ioniq.
You did a great job displaying the features of this EV model. From one car enthusiast to another, keep up the great work, Sofyan! 👍🏽
love this car and the color! Much cheaper than the Bolt and looks much better. I know the Bolt gives much more range but for me personally, my commute is only 15 miles round trip so it doesn't matter to me. 124+ miles is plenty to not have any range anxiety. I really want an electric car because with the mountain road I have to go over multiple times a day, the gas engine in my hybrid always kicks in so it'd be great to have a fully electric car where I can go as fast as I want over the mountain without a gas engine kicking in.
Yeah but that mountain will destroy your range
True, it is quite irritating but with those awesome regenerative paddles, going on the downhill stretches, I'm sure I can get most of that range back.
azera55555 Just get a Volt?
Fair point but it's a couple thousand dollars more expensive than the Ioniq electric and you're getting less ev range, not as clean looking an interior in my opinion, and no turn signal or power folding mirrors or power seats with memory function. In short, it's not as good of a value. It does have self-parking over the Ioniq but that's not worth an extra $5k.
azera55555 But you're also getting unlimited range if you need it and a liquid cooled battery. Plus, auto high beams are very nice. It's not like anyone pays near MSRP for Chevys anyway.
I picked up my 2017 Ioniq EV on a Monday in July 2020. Four weeks to the day later, it was in a serious collision. I sustained no injuries, so full marks to the side impact safety system. But just today it was written off. It's a great little car though, even if I may or may not ever get to own another.
Why wouldn’t you get another if it has saved ur life?
I forgot I wrote this. My emotions were all over the place that month. There aren't a tremendous number of them on the market, but as soon as the insurance settlement came through, I went right back out and bought my 2020 of the same car!
@@seangates900 ohh amazing news! Hope you enjoying the new one. I too have bought one and love every bits of it.
I'm trying to convince my mom to trade in her Elantra for this to drive to work and go around town. Honestly, I think 124 miles is enough for most people, but that range anxiety is hard to overcome. The plug-in hybrid Ioniq should be the best version.
J.Chan Get a Bolt.
Well if one day I'm forced to buy an electric car, I guess I'll buy this! By far the best option. Great review as always my friend!
The best most in-depth review I've seen. Top notch!
Keep up the great work, you deserve more subscribers
please do the plug-in hybrid variant when it comes out. that's the one i've been waiting a year for!
phil chao Omg. Me too. That's all I've been waiting for.
Same waiting for it
Make sure to watch TheTropher's review on the plug in variant
Why would they make a plug in hybrid?
+Hugh Jazz not sure if you're trolling, but why wouldn't they? unless you've never heard of PHEV before?
Can you please review the regular Ioniq Hybrid?
I can't wait for this car to come to Pennsylvania !
The range on this meets most peoples day to day needs. And the fast charging means it can actually go quite far with minimal downtime. This guy named Bjorn Nyland on CZcams does a 1000km test with them. The 28kw Ionic beat a lot of vehicles with larger batteries because of how fast it charges.
This car is beautiful and runs great, but the one thing that will always kill it for me are the blind spots. There's no reason for an EV to have such a small rear window.
There isn't really that bad of a blind spot with that bar in the back, you have a quite a bit of visibility. I just took one on a test drive yesterday and it has better visibility than my 2019 Mazda 3.
One big thank you from Belgium.
As I was watching the video, I noticed you were test driving around my hometown of Falls Church, Va. Nice review. I just recently stumbled across your channel reviewing the Kia stinger. Your videos are very detailed.
My good friend bought one of these. The car runs great, the only problem he ran into was when he was going from Toronto to Montreal. The charging stations were either damaged or there were not enough to meet his 190km range with a/c and all the goods blasting on.
xxFallenKnight you say it runs great. Uh that term is exclusive to a gas engine. this car doesn't run at all, in the acepted terminology. we will have to go thru a new learning curve when talking about these kind of vehicles lol! maybe the electric motor purrs well?
Steve Franklin the fuck are talking about? I get what you're saying, but what the hell is the point of bringing up something so stupid?
Also, electric motors still have rotating components contained within them.
Alex Connor I wasn't talking to you. but why the vicious attack?
I'm less scare now to buy an ionic now (someone from Montreal)
Plz do first person interior again!! I miss it :( but great review!
hope the range will get better because this car is relatively big and I love it more than the bolt
Wonder why he didn't test drive the regular gas electric Ioniq. After all that's the one most owners will buy.But I love the design hopefully he will test drive the Gas Electic one comparing it to the 2017 Prius.
I've been waiting for a review of this car not to buy it but it was interesting to me thanks Redline reviews
Question...why are xenon headlights considered a downgrade from LED headlights?...Both are still conaidered a luxury feature
hi sofyan this is irrelevant but can you tell us your workout plan? you look great!
I agree.
really good overall review. one of the best, good jobb!
What would be more useful for customers, it would be charge options, and not usualy level2 and DC fast, but more numbers. Level 2 is anything more than 5kW.
So,
Doest it have 3 phase charging?
What are max current ratings?
How much power it can take when DC charge?
Which connector it uses?
Saw only 1 in person , looked so cheap I was amazed
Lee sandwiches at 10:40
15:57 agreed.. yep a SINGLE digit would not be good.
I'll check back with electric cars in 5 years. Right now "cheap" electric cars don't travel far enough and I don't plan to spend TSLA money for one
We already have these selling here in SEA like crazy since last year
I rented one in Jeju island in South Korea. Great car when using the quick charge
I doubt I'm alone in saying that I cannot wait for a Tesla product review from Redline! I hope they send you something soonish. I want to see the "holy crap this is fast" face during a Model S or X review in Ludicrous speed.
I drive short distances, a round trip of 10Km every day. Weekend I make a longer trip 50Km (round trip). This car would be perfect for me
1:30 You do realise that while the wheels are different sizes, it's the RIM size that differs? The actual diameter of the tyre tread is exactly the same. Handling differences are due to sidewall height... and rolling resistance is related to diameter of the *tyre* not the rim!
Soooofinneeeee. I mean. Sofyan great review. haha.
It looks like a great car! I think the Hybrid model would be the best for me though.
Don't miss Virginia at all, but do miss the rain....
Sofyan,
Please review the difference between kW and kWh. One is a power rating, and one is a capacity.
The EV version is available in Europe as well... Been shipping over here for months.
Frequent DC Fast Charging can reduce the battery life in the long run. But what is considered frequent ? Is it once a week, once a month, twice a month or something else ?
amazing tech review car looks great
When the plug-in model releases in the fall, can you get your hands on one and review it? Thanks :)
You are looking good you look like you list some weight and are toned with some 💪
How does it stack up to the Bolt and Tesla Model 3? Love to see your thoughts on those.
It looks nice
125 mile range. Is that enough for a day's worth of driving?
I'm thinking of getting on of these for a daily driver
I’d love to lease one of these, but the electric model is only available in CA, and I live in the Midwest.
I could buy one and transport it, but I’d rather lease and give it back in 3 yrs.
Good video review...
I have those Michelin tyres on my gasoline car and they don't have a tendency to wheel spin so that vehicle has a lot of torque compared with my car.
Can you review the model 3?
He is professional
Still don't understand why electric cars have to have funky and unorthodox design language, especially when Tesla has showed us that electric cars can look attractive. Aren't designers less constrained with electric cars due to the way they're packaged?
Alex Connor not exactly they also try to reduce drag for increased mpg which might explain their shape
I'll wait for the 2018, if don't deliver. I'm buying a tesla.
lol
good luck getting your tesla delivered. lol
Any plans to review the E-Golf?
i prefer the lever type shifter...push it forward foe drive and pull it back for reverse :D.....i dont want to be accidentally pushing the wrong button and ending up the opposite direction to where i want to go
I would love to see the new Teslas
Please do a review on model 3.
how much will the range increase if driven with aircon always off?
EvendimataE every time we talked about the range that was with the AC off, when you turn on the AC it lost about 10-15 miles of range.
+Redline Review I’d get the 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid Limited with the Ultimate Package I’d get the White car with Tan Interior
If Hyundai extends the range of this model to over 200 miles next year, the resale value of this car will drop like a sack of cement.
Richard M best time to swoop one up then lol
I like the button gear shift coolest part of it, overall not a shabby car nice intro model for them , but i dont think this will ever compete with the tesla model 3
mizta Taylor I actually drove one in Korea and its real easy to use!
I still haven't seen anything that'll keep me from going with a Model 3.
I love everything about the car but the only thing that I dont like is the tailights. I think hyundai shouldve gave the car 2017 elantra limited tailights with a clear cover
@Redline Reviews Can you do test drive 2019 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell?
Can you do the new 2019 Hyundai ioniq review update?
does this car have auto pilot and how does the autopilot compare to Tesla?
"this car doesn't have an ice so if you run out of juice your gonna end up stranded on the side of the road".
Same as with an ice, idiotic comment!
Can you do a review for the Genesis g80/g90 2018 edition?
How's the sound system
Serious question, how can you convert it into mpg? Pls help
Deaven Laxton I was wondering the same. It doesn't use gasoline, so...gallons of what?
There aren't any "gallons" in this car, so....
Deaven Laxton I may be wrong but I believe mpge is supposed to be the equivalent to regular mpg, but for kilowatts
Deaven Laxton one gallon of gas is equivalent to around 34 kWh
Based on that if a car uses 34 kWh to go 100 miles, then the car gets 100 MPGe
Really I only care about miles / kw. MPGe is nonsense.
Ioniq vs. Bolt/Ampera E? Compare pls!
Why does he call it a “Hunday”?
What was your second car
I want one can’t find one in Colorado
I wanna know if anyone else see that. Right at the final 3 to 5 seconds of the video I see a ghostly figure standing at the right of Sofian. The shape is vaguely human and smaller than he. Check that out!
at 4:15 this is 88 KW, not KW/h
When you say 150 mpg...what exactly is the gallon?
Brad James 34kwh is equivalent to one gallon of gasoline
Why are logos getting so huge... look at it, the hyundai badge is the size of his head wyd hyundai
Oooo sofy you look great 👌🏻
....i should really hit the gym 😫
g80 sport please
Why he Nippin so hard at 16:54
Hot dude probably walked by
It's like he has ESPN or something, his breast can always tell if it's going to rain. #meangirls
Tor Guy chick*
Yo review the Infiniti Q70L
Yea should try tesla next
All companies need to extend the range around 400mi. Most cars are around that range. Heck they can over 500.
Joshua Johnson EVs need new battery tech to achieve that.
Yeah and it's going to take quite some time.
Joshua Johnson I'm lucky to hit 300 miles on my Civic with mainly city driving.
Joshua Johnson the average vehicle for sale in 2016 has 340 miles range. So half the cars for sale get less then that. Most conventional gas vehicles can't get that unless you buy the base engine without awd
Jess Barnett Civics can reach to 400 miles easily.
Map Pocket - kids be like.. what?!
How does this get 150city/122hw mpg when there are no gallons consumed to measure it by?
dw0095 conversion based on amount of energy in a gallon a gasoline. 34kwh equals 1 gallon
I would cop if it wasn't a Hyundai
Edgar Martinez Hyundais are great car brands to own, a lot of people has them. Just lease one so you're not exactly stuck with it.
"Remember if you run out of juice you're going to be stuck at the side of the road!" You mean.. like the same way that people run out of gas. Don't think this guy likes EVs.
I don't have android auto or apple car play...I have CDs...what about me? T__T
Tell me how is it more fuel efficient then a Tesla model 3 310 miles of range per charge not 120 or the 35,000 220 mile range base model
It is about how much energy is required per mile. This car is lighter than the Tesla and therefore needs less energy to push it around.
I'd totally get this over a Prius which is an ugly POS looking car.
Sang Eeth yet there are new Prius everywhere and they sold like 2 of these 😂😂😂
daffac!!!
360p squad hahah
Wow that car has a retarder (somewhat)
Fix your errors, do not waste my time apologizing. -1
I prefer the reviewing style of your older videos 😒
The interior is ugly but the rest of the car looks great
"This is an all new platform that Hyundai has invested a lot of money in..."
and they use incandescent light bulbs. LOL!
it's just too slow, make it 200hp at least
Mindfull get a model 3 is has around 300hp
