  • The nonprofit group Women On 20s wants to replace the $20 bill's President Andrew Jackson with a woman. They mocked up some potential new designs, which you can vote for on their site. Sacagawea is the only woman figure currently being produced on U.S. currency.

Why do we need a face on the bill anyway? The euro doesn't have faces and it's fine. Putting a face on a bill leads to disputes like this.

Aren't monuments already on the bills(except the 1$ and 2$ bill)? There could also be the option of putting a national side on it which each state can determine(like european coins).

the11382 On American bills, one side has the face of a person and the other side has the picture of a monument. I was thinking that some national symbol could replace the face of the person instead of worrying about who goes on the bill.

Nathan FeiNathan Fei Why is it, when White People don't get their way, they tend to favor throwing out the baby with the bath water?

kevind159 It's not that he isn't getting his way,but it's that disputes like these take time and money to handle when we could just get rid of the entire dispute in total.

I would be a tiny bit sad if Jackson was removed from the 20. The fact that hes on the 20 at all is one of the most ammusing moves of spite in the history of Us currency.

None I think all people on all currency should be scientists or engineers or a depiction of an important scientific event, thus encouraging science as a national value globally rather then being a corrupt politician

it amazes me stuff like this is a focal point for Americans. Your entire country is crumbling into corruption and rotting from with-in and you're all pissed off about the $20 lol

Let's go Harriet Tubman/ Rosa Parks! They embody the movements for social equality in the United States. They both stood up, put themselves aside, and did what they believed to be right. This rebel attitude is much of what we are taught to be proud of ourselves for.
I think we should put Martin Luther King Jr. On the $10 bill too. How do we go about petitioning this?

Well, who did the most for America? Being a bit biased, I would probably choose a woman of color, but whoever brought about the best change in America should be awarded the place of the 20. Just happy this is an actual discussion.

If they do indeed replace Andrew Jackson on the twenty dollar bill, I'll refuse to use the new twenty. I won't take it at the bank, or at any store as change. I'll opt for two tens or ten singles. burn the bills or destroy the mold.

I think they should keep Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. He's been there forever and he should stay there.

Don't change any of them. Andrew Jackson WAS our president. Currently there hasn't been a single Woman president. If individual votes mattered, I would still vote for Andrew Jackson.

Ugh but Margaret Sanger was a eugenist and a racist. I dont quite understand why shes a liberal feminist icon. Not saying that those currently on the bills weren't racist, but we should improve if we're going to change things.

I like the idea of a Native American woman, like Sacajawea. If I had to choose from the given, I'd choose Susan B Anthony. I'd also like to add to the list Silvia Plath and Maya Angelou.
