This reminds me of the creeper costume I made for halloween one year, it was made out of litteral cardboard boxes, and I had lots of fun that year, and I even got some recognition from some other trick or treaters. Oh how I wish I was young again.

I remember a thing or two about explosions, and that is that when that explosion went off it might've pushed the light oxygen away too fast for the heavy flour to ignite and while that doesn't mean add flour to your creepers i think you got lucky thanks to the explosive power

Wouldve been better if all the electronic works were in the feet and the ultrasonic sensor was in a blastproof shell and connected via spring loaded contacts
so even if it did go boom, the parts can still be reused
better yet if the body construction was intentionally pre-fragmented, like lego bricks but held together by sacrificial binder, like string for instance. Strong enough to hold it together, but lets it blow itself to pieces without destroying the body parts.
Needless to say, yeah, don't go overboard with the 'explosives' part. Firecrackers are plenty good for the effect, but anything stronger might land people on a watchlist or something.
