Getting a new TV always has a challenging task. Do you go with this brand or this panel technology? Do you go bigger or get something better for gaming? Well, brands like LG and Sony are making the choice even harder by continuously improving the tech in their TVs. In this comparison, I discuss the differences between Sony's new QD-OLED technology and LG's refined Mini-LED tech.

Summary of the video: This OLED has good colors, less reflections and less brightness. This Mini-LED has cooler colors, more reflections and greater brightness. Jon repeats these 3 points over and over and over again. He then decided that brightness and cool colors are more of his thing, so he picks the Mini-LED one.

Mini led looks so washed out. The contrast on the OLED is fantastic.

Sony is nicer but I don’t think it’s $2,000 nicer. I’d go for the LG and use the savings for surround sound system.

My guy you literally used an LG IPS to represent miniLED, they intentionally gimp their LCD TVs, better off showing qn95b.

I got the Samsung qd oled . Coming from regular led it was mind blowing difference. Haven’t been this impressed since going from 480p to 1080

Honestly, the Sony X95K would have been an interesting comparison. Sony processing, MiniLED and better reflection handling than the QNED90.

oof, stick to non-TV reviews. this was painful to watch. he essentially did a review of a TV in Vivid for 80% of the comparison review...

QD OLED far superior to mini led

I like how auto subtitles interpret it as "cutie OLED" 😂

Burn in Burn in Burn in....Simple. The QNED is gonna be a way safer purchase. OLED and QD-OLED both have major burn in risk. So gotta take the QNED.

One thing people miss about OLED is that the color depth is vastly superior to anything else out there.

Great comparison, I was looking for a comparison between miniled and oled. Thank you for this !

I currently own A95K. Returned X95K for it. I was impressed with the MiniLED’s blacks and lack of blooming too….until the lights went off! After spending some time with it I came to an easy conclusion that I could not stomach the washed out colors or the blooming. This was the 85” as well so gave me the best chance possible with the most zones and it was still a mess at time. In a bright room I could see it being a great TV for someone who watches and hosts a lot of sports with friends family etc, but for serious movie lovers and gamers who watch the important stuff at night with all the lights off? I’d say don’t even consider anything but OLED. Maybe MicroLED will get us there but as of now, we just aren’t there yet with MiniLED blacks and blooming control.

Well put, and for the same reasons after trying C1 OLED and QN95A, I went for the latter. It suits my room, which lets in a lot of daylight. Both are great for different setups.

Mini-LED will eat any form of OLED's lunch in time. Why? Because OLED has inherent hurdles such as brightness and burn in. Sure Mini-LED may not be perfect now but it can already smoke OLED brightness which means it's automatically better for SDR and HDR content, no burn in, and as they get better with LED zones, the gap will be non-existent. You don't need EXACT pixel control for a perfect image, there is a point where the groups will be so many mini-LEDs it will be hard to tell the difference. OLED will have better motion and viewing angle though, but I doubt for many those will be an issue, especially since alternate VA panel treatments are already coming out that increase viewing angle.

absolutely great video. i actually was very impressed by the QNED90 in store and i was left wanting more. Cant wait to see what they bring this year. Of course QDOLED wins but sometimes the price isn't right and for me I would pick up a miniled.

Watching on my QD IPS monitor, the colours on the Sony popped even more for me. Especially the reds.

Yeah I love the accurate colors on the Sony. I'll be picking one up later this year.
