I've just watched several videos about interview outfits for young women, and yours is the FIRST that doesn't showcase clothes that are tacky, too tight, and inappropriate. Thank you for dressing for the real world!
Absolutely. I've seen so many videos of girls dresing for work, but their makeup looks way too bright, dark, flashy colored blouses, or tacky patterns. Just like Elle, I will be working in a law firm and what many would think is work attire would be absolutely inappropriate to legal professionals. I've seen a girl wear big hoop earrings to an interview. Like, are you serious?
And still many years later the best.
finally! some beautiful yet REAL attire for professional interviews in the REAL WORLD. too many beauty gurus think they can give advice on business interview attire and they either show too much skin, too bright or loud, or just flat out tight or tacky.
YES! My thoughts exactly.
Exactly 🤦🏻♀️
I love that you wore a pants suit to your interview. I did the same and think it's most appropriate. I live in Los Angeles and so lots of professional girls wear skirts but I just feel so much more comfortable and safe in pants. Thanks for the video, great advice like always!

thank you
Ashley Manney thanks
Ashley Manney God bless you.
It actually starts at 00:01 but thanks anyways
Thanks.
I love these videos! Finally something to cater to us women who aspire to great things in our careers!!
I really like the last outfit! When I was in med school everyone was really really casual, even when doing rotations in the hospital, and even now that I'm trying to become a GP I don't have to wear formal clothes... but it's interesting to see some different styles :)
I'm glad I found your channel, and sorry for my english!
Sara from Italy
I loved how classy and professional, yet beautiful you looked in these outfits!
I don't think you are talking too much in this, people are just being rude. Anyways, thank you for being my lifeline now that I have started a job in which the dress code is "business formal".
TENSHl I disagree.... I think it should have been more concise and also not have all the information blocked together at the beginning. It would have been better to bookend the outfits with information.
That being said... I really enjoyed her and the video.
Great video, watching it in 2021 again. I wore a simple blouse, cardigan, stockings and flats to an interview at a pre K a few years ago and got the job! Hair pulled back, makeup light and it was great. I felt put together and classy.
Hi Elle, I'm a long term viewer and have seen all these videos before but am rewatching them as I have my first interview for a law firm on Friday! I'm so nervous but rewatching your videos and remembering all your tips, as someone who's been here before, it's such a comfort and is really helping me to calm down. So thank you so much!
+Rachel Brady good luck! Xx
Elle Florence Elle I got the job and I'm so happy! Going to rewatch the videos again to start building my new work wardrobe! Thank you xx
this is still one of my favourite videos of yours - thanks for the tips, elle :)
I'm loving your channel since I subscribed. I'm binge watching. Not many channels cover beautiful work clothes.
Hi Elle! I'm not an avid commenter but I just really want to say that I love your videos! In my surroundings there's no one that I can go to for advice regarding career or business appropriate fashion and I would have no idea on what is appropriate or not because unfortunately there aren't a lot resources for women.
So I'd like to thank you for making these videos and sharing your experiences. You're a real inspiration to me!
OMGSH, you showed comfy heals. Thank you, this is so realistic!!
Cool. Very cute PowerPoint presentation afterwards. thanks for some great tips.
Great outfit ideas! I always find myself having a hard time choosing outfits that are both comfortable and suitable for formal meetings! Love this vid!
Such sophisticated looks! Thanks for sharing :)
You look stunning in all 3 outfits and I enjoyed watching this even though I'm in a much more casual office environment :) thanks for taking time to film this!
I just found your channel and i love it!!!As a 22 years old working at an accounting firm this is incredibly useful ,I wish that that you could do the hot wheather version because here in México it's always really warm.
Give me email id i want job in your country
Great video. I remember when I just graduated with my master's and interviewed for the job I really wanted. I went to Ann Taylor Outlet and bought three different suits all on the spot! Good deals and good quality. I got the job but I am glad I bought all three suits, because I had three separate interviews with different management levels of the corporation.
I love Ann Taylor! Congrats on getting the job!
love your 3rd outfit and you look amazing girl!
You look absolutely AMAZING!!! So put together and so classic. Good luck in your career!
Saskia Lemaire thank you! Right back at you :)
Great point about wearing white & confidence! Your style is the same as mine.
Hi Elle, I've been watching your videos for a long time. I am one of your followers from Turkey :) I am a work oriented person, I like buying and wearing clothes but sometimes I don't have enough motivation or time for choosing or matching when I am too busy. My mother (whom I lost 6 months ago) was just like you. She loved the clothes. She was watching shows on dressing contests everyday. She was a teacher and nobody saw her sloppy dressed at anytime in her life even when she was sick ... Before my mother died she bequeathed to me to always dressing beautifuly. Your videos always motivate me to go to my closet and choose and match cloths for the day. For example today, I will meet with my pdh advisor and after writing this message I decided to choose a proper outfit for the meeting:) I also like your vlogs about other things.. I just wanted to say hi and thank you ,
Ferda
Hi Ferda,
First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. I am really close with my mom too, and so my thoughts go out to you. I think we are lucky to have had the influence of such strong and stylish women in our lives. Even when my grandma was at her sickest, she always took care of herself, and took pride in the process, and so I think that is how it has come to be something I instinctively feel passionate about. Thank you for watching my videos and good luck with your PHD!
All the best,
Elle
thanks for this v. relevant video! I'm also in law (UK) and have often wondered whether or not to go for a tailored suit because of the price tag. Zara does have some suit jackets that can be quite fitting but the matching trousers are always too short, skinny, or bottom baggy on me. I love watching these videos, always interesting and fun to watch!
At one point the subtitles said "... after I finished my regal training" hehe 👑✨Great video Elle!
Loved the video and ideas, you look gorgeous!
Love it!
Very good advice!
Elle your videos are the best! Can you please do an updated video on this topic?
I did! Do a search 😘
Thank you for sharing your experience on wearing outfits to workplace, that was very good for people who is confidence themselves and as i have observed your review it would be good if you can give the reason why you select this suite and what color or style it can go along with each one. Sometime, it will be good to give general ideas how to wear to workplace everyday. I always follow your review so, please please keep doing
You have amazing taste and style!
I wish I could look so elegant!
If you are watching in the UK, look at Hobbs if you have the money- or Zara or M&S Autograph range. New Look does similar on a very tight budget.
Thank you, for the Tips 😃
This was really helpful
Love your videos! Do you have a friend film your outfit shots? They are awesome!!! Great job!
Excellent video. I adored the white, creamed color chanelesque jacket at the end. Where is this piece from?
all the details are in the information bar :)
Love your videos
can u do a tutorial on the hair bun?
I love all your outfits - they are so well put together. You are by far the best dressed You Tuber! May I ask, what are you wearing as your top at the beginning of the video? I would love to find something similar.
You mean in the intro? It's a sweater from Ralph by Ralph Lauren :)
Love your videos and style, it's very refreshing to see someone dress so classy instead of crop tops and too short shorts in every video.
great video!
Where do you get your top that you are wearing from this video ?
where did u get the frilly blouse from? the one shown in the first few minutes before actual tips
I love the blouse you are wearing at the start of the video! Any chance you could let me know where it's from? Thanks!
you look gorgeous in this video Elle ♡
xo Love from Boston
at 5:30,, The Zara Blazer, could you please share what the materials are? Is it poly and cotton or poly and viscose?

NICE!
You remind me of Blair Waldorf SO much 💕🙈 you look like her and Ur facial expresions are alike too
I want all these outfits and im only 16! Haha
You videos have been very helpful but I had a question. I know black is suppose to be the staple of a business professional wardrobe, but I have a very hard time wearing any black. What color would be the best staple in this case. Would it be Navy?
I love love navy! Grey is my third choice.
Ok, so if I can't do black, navy would be your second choice, then grey?
Yes :)
Elle Florence thank you so much!
I love pants lol
Guys please give me advice
I have an interview for a paralegal position
I am a 22 year old law student who is female and it's currently very hot here in Aus what should. I wear
I was thinking black pants White buisness shirt tucked in black heels and hair back
Hey! That's a great plan. If you feel like it would be less warm to wear, you could also wear a nice blouse :)
+Elle Florence thanks Elle so sweet of you to reply :)
+kayla220220 I did my first interview for the state police after a physical fitness test. They gave us an hour to shower and change for the interview. I knew that it was going to be stupid warm in there (plus, I run hot after I work out) so I purchased a basic sleeveless white blouse to wear under my blazer. I bought my navy blue suit in the summer cotton collection from Ann Taylor and my blouse was from The Limited. It ended up working out really well and I didn't get too warm or sweaty during the interview. :) I hope that helps!
May I ask what kind of work do you do? I LOVED this video!
I'm a lawyer :)
Really nice....A+++👌🏽🙂
Wow! You wore pants to an interview? Bold choice! I was always told that was a no-no until you became a more established attorney.
That's really interesting! My experience is the absolute opposite in London and Vancouver. The advice (controversial as it may be) that I was given is that the more serious you want to look, the more you should borrow from menswear when choosing your outfit. Personally, I believe it should make no difference, as long as the outfit is well chosen.
Elle Florence
Hmmm... I wonder if it's an American thing? I personally think what you've heard makes more sense. However, I'm in Patent Law and on the East Coast, and I think those two combined lead to a very conservative environment. I've had interviewing attorneys - both men and women - tell me that it was safest to wear a skirt suit/dress.
Regional differences aside, I completely agree with your ultimate outlook. And I always, always draw inspiration from your outfits!
thanks for sharing your experience! I'm very interested in what's appropriate clothing wise for professional women around the world. Have a great weekend Stephanie :)
Interesting! I live in Europe and I would never wear a skirt to an interview or a very important meeting. Pants are way more official and serious, in my opinion, while a skirt or dress may be too feminine and playful. Of course, you CAN wear it and some people do, but for really serious business occasions a skirt/dress would never be my first choice. Maybe it draws too much attention to the fact that I am a woman, and I wouldn't want any dude to check out my legs while I make an effort to impress with my work. That said, I think Elle has such a tasteful and classic style that I didn't mind the outfit with the dress at all, probably because the blazer is long enough. I don't think we should hide our femininity, but too often I have seen women being reduced on their outer appearance while wearing feminine clothing, and I simply wouldn't want to risk it when something is important to me. I hope this makes sense :)
I'm from Europe as well (Germany to be precise) and I've also always heard that it's better for women to look more "manly" or at least to not openly show their female attributes. That means pants for one, but also they recommend to not wear your hair down, especially when it's rather long.
wow it s navy suit good~^^ it s white shirt good~^^
❤🌹
In your climate, that time of your, I would match the 2nd outfit with nearly black stockings, as it's a little unprofessional to wear no legwear with this very conservative outfit. Much as it would be a little uprofessional for a man to wear no tie with a very conservative suit in a colder climate.
All 3 great looks btw!
These clothes look expensive but I’m sure they are worth it in the long run. Please leave links to these outfits and tell us where to purchase them
Nice video
I have an interview tomorrow and i will be wearing the last outfit
I feel that this is a stupid question, but I've been wondering this for a long time and I hope that someone could reply, in all seriousness. Do you wear pantyhose when you wear a dress (or skirt) with heels? I feel that with pants, the answer is always yes, but I don't seem to notice pantyhose in this video. Maybe they are skin color and perfectly blend in? I don't know... I mean, no one would want their feet to smell at the job, right?
I actually despise pantyhose so I don't wear it in the spring or summer. In the winter and fall I wear opaque or semi opaque black tights. What I sometimes use is the airbrush Sally Hansen stockings which is like a clothing friendly foundation spray for your legs that looks exactly like stockings :)
Nice
Good good
You are beautiful!!
Is wearing red ok?
Eyat Goldman I'm sure a little red is fine, but I heard a lot of color deters employers from hiring.
