I am a believer in the tweed jacket. It goes everywhere. With, jeans, slacks, turtleneck, button-down. Every man needs one. (Properly sized/tailored of course) It's a solid investment.
@@Angel-ph4xlHmm. Never gave it much thought, but when I think of a tweed jacket, I think of a jacket with flap pockets. (They're kind of rugged outdoorsy, utilitarian by nature. Great in a drizzle) I stumbled across one in a fine blue/black houndstooth that fit well off the rack and it's been everywhere with me. Straight jeans and a flat cap and you could probably be tolerably fashion-proof from 1850 to the year 3000.
Great video Thomas! Really appreciate all that examples. I have a week packed with business meetings and I'll be wearing one of those outfits. You put the viedo out at the right time.
RULE #6 - As seen in all of the looks shown, make sure that your shirt placket, belt buckle and fly of your jeans are all in a STRAIGHT LINE! If this is overlooked, it will ruin your perfect outfit. Fantastic video!!! Straight to the point, and the different outfits give great style guidance. Go kill it, gentlemen!
I agree with the all the "rules" andI really liked most of the outfits, but I would add not to mix jeans and jackets in a color and shade that looks too similar; that combo looks like those made up "suits" that are not really a suit: hand-me-down wool black jacket paired with cotton faded black slacks, NO!. I'd suggest either different colors or contrasting shades of a color. Other than that, all looks are great.
Hint when washing dark jeans always use cold water and never place them in a dryer. Let them air dry on a hanger and they will stay dark for many years. Not digging the white pant outfit or the light color blazer. I prefer a darker jacket and pant.
You can dry them in dryer. Turn them inside out, dry medium, but damp dry setting. Then hang over a chair or something for half a day. 100% drip-dry would take forever here in Oregon.
I love these videos with Thomas! All outfits look great. I've been subscribed to this channel for many years, and it keeps on bringing valuable information on looking good and improving yourself as a gentleman. Best regards from Brasil!🇧🇷
This is a very well conceived video. Good rules. I have worn this look before, and it works if the fit is done right. I hate to see a man wearing a suit jacket as a blazer. It NEVER works!
Such a good point! I’ve been guilty of the ‘orphaned suit jacket’ and jeans combo in the past, it doesn’t look good. Blazers need to be their own thing and not just taking one half of a suit jacket, the texture and structure point is really important. Having said that, you can get some nice suit jackets for cheap when they’re being sold off because there’s no trousers etc., worth using them paired with smart trousers for a more relaxed Italian ‘spezzato’ style - I find this a great alternative to a full suit in the summer.
Happy to realise that my instincts about jeans and blazer are spot on. And finally as my dad use to say ‘It’s ok to go unshaven if you are not wearing a tie(or conversely, when wearing a tie always shave (unless you have a formal beard… stumbles are a strictly no-no with a tie))
You can also pull off a good formal look with pure black jeans (w/o rivets or contrast stitching) dress shirt and black vest. Then with a blazer bring in color like a good blue. Dark Blue Derbys as shoes to finish it. You can even wear a neck tie to dress up even more.
I really enjoy these videos of yours, Thomas! One thing I feel the urge to point out: at 3:15, you're just wearing regular Semi-Brogue Oxfords, not Balmorals 😉 On a pair of Balmoral Oxfords, the throatline continues all the way to the back of the shoe, like on a pair of Full Wing or Long Wing Brogues. In my opinion, Balmoral oxfords (especially on plain-toe oxfords) look like regular oxfords with overshoes -- I don't care for the look, personally 😂 Overall, I loved the video! Very Informative!
I liked all of the sport coat combinations detailed at the end of the video. But my impression is these are for people going into the office with casual wear. What happens when you're going to wear a sport coat on the weekend or after 5? Since you're not wearing a tie, which is a mans way of distinguishing themselves, how do we distinguish ourselves in our outfits? Do we substitute Red Sneakers for the shoes? Do we wear a wild colored shirt? What is it that shows our individuality and make us stand out in a non office environment? Thanks
What about suspenders? As a bigger gentleman belts tend not to function effectively. Do you think that suspenders would work with this outfit and if so should I invest in button suspenders or clip?
Good video but I disagree on the Presidential Fold pocket square. It’s too formal for Jeans and a blazer. I have an olive corduroy blazer with brown elbow patches...it goes great with a pair of jeans.
I also have an olive corduroy blazer - no elbow patches though, but I would consider adding them - and I think it looks fantastic with jeans. I have actually got a LOT of compliments on it
All perfect with just a single thing out of place... match your metals, if you are wearing a gold tone belt buckle make sure your blazer buttons are gold tone (if metal) and your watch is gold tone, a silver tone watch looks out of place with all gold elsewhere. Kind of like matching your leathers with shoes and belts.
Very sorry, at my boarding school many boys wore jeans with their school blazer and school tie, and all my life I have used the combination. My favourite has always been blue jeans (not too dark), well-polished shoes, a shirt with French cuffs, a dark blue double-breasted blazer with black buttons, and a silk tie/bowtie. Many other combinations, of course, including a T-shirt with my jeans and blazer. Wearing ripped jeans with a blazer is not a question of too casual since ripped jeans are not an item in a well-dressed person's wardrobe.
Blue tops work best with light colored pants. Never combine the same general color for tops and bottoms unless the fabrics match exactly. The right jacket to wear with jeans is a very casual jacket, like fleece or corduroy.
What about suit separate jackets with Chinos is that okay as well? I know it's all preference so just curious. I think it still looks nice without the matching pants otherwise I'll go with a sport coat.
Same rules from formality scale apply here: not too far apart from each other. With chinos it's even easier as these can be more dressed up than jeans.
@@marioburgos712 Thanks truly helpful. Yeah I figured Chinos would be better if you want to be business casual. My suit separate jackets are a Medium Grey Glen plaid pattern and a Solid Charcoal. What color chinos do you feel go really well with both of these? I believe shades of Blues and Tans can really work.
Very interesting and useful information here, but I tend to recoil from your advising the wearing of brown shoes with blue clothing. It used to be a major no-no especially in Britain, but maybe times have changed ...

Love how attentive you are to the details - those fabric patterns and different outfits - great job!

Yep! Corduroy as well.
is it okay if a tweed jacket has flap pockets for jeans? thanks

The best video I have seen explaining these details. Super thanks for this

can i wear a henly shirt insted of a csual dress shirt?
Absolutely. You gotta keep that gig line straight.
Get that "gig line " straight, Boot.Veterans will get it.
It only took getting chewed out once for me always have my gig line straight.😂
Never knew texture on blazer play such important role, still have so much to learn. Thanks for the info. Great job!
Such blazers can quickly look shabby though
Thomas must be a superman! :DDDDDDDDDD "Sleeps in a blazer and jeans!"
Agree! Need contrast
Agree
It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Super Thomas. Always to the rescue with ways to help us look our best. : )
Super Thomas for the win!
Super Thomas my ass. That is a ghost. Have you ever seen some sun?
weekend vibes was my favorite !
Thank you for making this. I want to adopt this style.
Go for it!
This mix & match with denims pants is superb.
Interesting points - agree with losing the tie. A confident strut can pull off most combinations
Hint when washing dark jeans always use cold water and never place them in a dryer. Let them air dry on a hanger and they will stay dark for many years. Not digging the white pant outfit or the light color blazer. I prefer a darker jacket and pant.
Or throw em in the freezer
That's not a hint all you have to do is read the tag even though some say tumble dry on low my intuition tells me to air dry
Yeah but if you want jeans hard as sand paper go ahead.
Let them air dry then a short med low temp cycle with a fabric sheet.
You can dry them in dryer. Turn them inside out, dry medium, but damp dry setting. Then hang over a chair or something for half a day. 100% drip-dry would take forever here in Oregon.
Digging that blue pocket square in the 'Rugged Look'. Nice!!
Great video! Good to know about texture and sportier makes the difference.
The weekend vibe looks so damn good
Definitely adopting this
Sounds like a plan!
I really like how they show the watches that combine with the outfit, I don't remember any other youtuber doing this, good work!!
He Spoke Style used to do this...
This is really helpful man, thanks!!
Great combo
All look good, but I like 4:33 the best. I appreciate your bringing lighter colors into the mix.
Weekend Vibes so good!
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing and regards from the North of Mexico
This is why I love corduroy jeans. They are quite versatile
This is brilliant! Is there a video like this but for how to dress up denim jackets? If not, that'd be great!
I love these videos with Thomas! All outfits look great. I've been subscribed to this channel for many years, and it keeps on bringing valuable information on looking good and improving yourself as a gentleman. Best regards from Brasil!🇧🇷

unshaven usually looks scruffy
@@redf7209 it does….. that’s why a strict no-no when wearing a tie
Very nice ,i wear that alot jeans blazers shirts some nice ideas . thanks. Donald
Awesome video! More videos like this from Thomas please
Great one
Good to know,will reshare!
Love it!
Amazing video
Dead on it! Very nice assortment. 👌
This is the best advice

真是我需要的,感谢您的分享❤
you nailed it - nicely
Rocking it!
Peal snap shirt black caiman belly cowboy boots wrangler cowboy cut jeans and a Resistol.
Thomas is amazing!!!
Not sure if i like the rolled up blazer but the the 3rd is my favourite
White Sneakers are great too
Keepin it cool was the best
Great video. Very informative. Whats the name of that last brown watch, with the sapphire blue dial ? That one was really sharp.
My favorite loafers are either Cole Hann, Nunn Bush, or Stacy Adams.
Friday was the best outfit
Those outfits are amazing!!! This gives me motivation to wear blazers and perform my duties very confidently.
This! 👏
you sir deserved a subscribe

I wear velvet blazers with jeans -- works well
套套都好型😊
Great tips, but it looks as though your blazers might be a little big on you... Maybe too long, but you still look amazing! Thank you for the insight!
Good
I would only wear black jeans with a blazer
IRON THOSE DANG SHIRTS PLEASE

Also, I keep hunting for ‘Unstructured Blazers’ … ie jackets without the internal lining … that makes it wearable on not so cold days …
Those can be hard to find. They actually call for a higher quality of tailoring because the stitching can't be hidden behind the lining.
I think this can be summed up by: "Dress up the jeans, Dress down the jacket".
What about suspenders? As a bigger gentleman belts tend not to function effectively. Do you think that suspenders would work with this outfit and if so should I invest in button suspenders or clip?
Can you do a video recommending shoes that look formal but that you can walk a lot with it... I mean commuting ofc, not exercise or running
Do you have any video that suggest how to combine light blue denim jacket ?
Any recommendations on a nice pairing for wearing blue suede shoes?
Believe the pocket square is also to formal along with the dress shoes! Try some Air Jordan's next time or some Jeezy's
Actually a good Regimental double brested goes well with smart jeans...
I really like the rugged look!
Not gonna ever see me roll up sleeves on a jacket. That's grotty.
👍 now I feel well armed on how to wear a blazer
Can we use formal shoes with blazer jeans ?
I like tux and jeans, but then I used to go round like that about 40 years ago:-)
We are all glad you grew up. ;)
So what happens if one wants to wear something a little more causal let’s say a linen wind breaker? How does one coordinate?
Good video but I disagree on the Presidential Fold pocket square. It’s too formal for Jeans and a blazer. I have an olive corduroy blazer with brown elbow patches...it goes great with a pair of jeans.

I noticed that too and cringed
Love the inclusion of watches.
What brand of jeans are those in the video? Thanks!
What brand were the white jeans in the 3rd look?

Outfit number 4. What's with the rolled up sleeves?
Blue tops work best with light colored pants. Never combine the same general color for tops and bottoms unless the fabrics match exactly. The right jacket to wear with jeans is a very casual jacket, like fleece or corduroy.
@Partick Fleece?
Maybe if you’re working at Walmart.
Or trail hiking.
Otherwise , you do not touch fleece.
Wow, dress to kill. Thanks for all the ideas for various outfits
Awesome video, perfect for the upcoming fall nights out :)
Weekend vibes or a GTA Vice City drug dealer? Loving the rolled-up sleeves!
Facts
What about blazers and formal pants?
Stud!
What about a cotton blazer to tie up with jeans? I say this as I find wool jacket's do not commonly use patterns.
What about suit separate jackets with Chinos is that okay as well? I know it's all preference so just curious. I think it still looks nice without the matching pants otherwise I'll go with a sport coat.

The pebble-grain wingtips at 4:22. Brand, please?

I wear my burgundy blazer with jeans often
what type of jeans are those?
Very interesting and useful information here, but I tend to recoil from your advising the wearing of brown shoes with blue clothing. It used to be a major no-no especially in Britain, but maybe times have changed ...
I agree with most of this, but I'll never be persuaded that rolled up blazers look okay lol
