As a consultant who has to wear a suit for work and travels throughout the USA on a weekly basis here's my advice. Keep it simple, sharp, and you! Buy suits when they are on sale (like Men's Wearhouse sales), buy wool suits, and wear whatever fits you best and that you feel sharp in. Brands do not matter, where you buy a suit doesn't matter. What matters is the fabric (100% wool), how it fits your body (shoulders, waist, arm length etc.), and most importantly how you FEEL in it. What you want is a suit or jacket that makes you feel CONFIDENT and how it fits your body. Only then can you go in front of the CEO, CFO, and key management to do your presentation or impress that girl and her parents. Dress to impress and think of it as your armor as you go out to conquer the world. ;-)
I traveled overseas recently and stumbled into a tailor shop accidentally while my wife and daughter were looking at trinkets at an open market. I ended up buying a whole wardrobe, a suit, separate sport jacket, 5 shirts, and trousers, and custom msde shoes. One of the best damn things I ever did. Very inexpensive, and a lot of fun, my daughter helped me pick out the shoe style, and fabric prints. Do yourself a favor and get it done next time you're on vacation. You won't regret it.
I currently work for, what once was The Men's Warehouse, now Tailored Brands Inc. Distribution Center in Houston, Tx. TUX division, and I have to say, great job on bringing style to world in a huge way. Antonio, it's great how you put this in laments terms and help ppl understand what it is to be a casual dress, all the way up to a full blown formal. Many men don't understand it, and truly want to, but don't know how to go about asking someone for this kind of advice. From one men of men to another who truly cares about how someone looks and feels. Kudos! Keep up the great work.

In just about every men's clothing shop and tailor in town here, every time I'm talking about what I'm looking for or what I want, the salesperson or tailor tells me there is no difference between a suit jacket, blazer, or sports jacket. They tell me that they are all different words for the exact same thing. It drives me insane, and they do it in a condescending way that makes me not want to do business with them. Moores is the worst for this.
+Jared Smith did it come with trousers? if not, its either sport or blazer. how loose is the fit? could you wear a sweater under the jacket? are the buttons gold louder in color? does it have a pattern or is it plain?
DJ Ezasscul It’s hard to find matching pants because they have none. Blazers and sports jackets are stand alone items meant to be worn with contrasting pants. If you want to match a jacket with pants then you’re looking for a suit.
This makes things a little difficult, because I don't think we have this classification in my language. Good thing I know for sure that all of my jackets are part of a suit and that I never tried to wear them with jeans. I always wondered what's up with the suit jackets that don't have matching pants next to them. Now I know I could use one or two of those jackets.

Perfect timing-I have been considering upgrading my wardrobe to add a sport jacket or two for those casual nights out. Definitely needed guidance and found it in your video. Trouble is, I live in a warm climate so what I usually see when I'm out is board shorts and flip-flops; something I refuse to do. I absolutely love the suit at 2:54. Something like that, only 'sportier' on a warm summer evening would be ideal. Thanks again! Subscribed!
Go for linen fabric in hot, humid weather. It releases perspiration quickly and breathes incredibly well. If you don't like the ruffled, look try a linen/blend, or if you want something that drapes extremely well, go for a linen/viscose blend. The suit you mentioned was definitely not linen, because of the smooth appearance. Linen has a textured, more casual appearance. Also, consider unstructured sport jackets, they have less fabric, and therefore retain less heat, as long as they are of a breathable fabric, and/or have a breathable weave. They can only be worn under casual circumstances, but they're still a step up from no jacket at all. Or you could remove the inner lining yourself, (if you know how to work with clothes!)

Great video! In my business I have a mix of corporate client meetings and getting down and hands on work, so I never wear a suit or tie, I always were jeans and a button up shirt. I'd like to introduce a blazer I believe, and according to a book I've been reading, Navy blue jacket helps to sell and make you look respected as an expert. So I know I want a blue jacket but since they are not cheap and I can't afford to buy more than one jacket right now, I need to carefully make the right choice of material that will be cool enough in the hot summer but also fits under a winter coat in our cold Canadian winters.
I choose and wear jackets and suits that I want, at any time, apart from dinner. Convention is only for those whose has low confidence or those who are scared to take a risk. Wear what you want when you want. If people judge you smile, your the one who’s making a statement.

I've found this video really interesting, as far as in my, Spain, the biggest part of shops don't make such a big difference between all the jackets: they only make the difference between Chaqueta de Traje ( "Suit's jacket") and Americana (that involves Blazer and Sport Jacket). Or, at least, that's what I've seen.

Nice info about. A few thoughts. Blazer would be also any fabrics that suit would be made of. The season are important. That tell you about the Fabrics to use for that season. The difference between blazer and sport coat blazer is more formal than a sport coat. Sport coat can extend from school, sports, casual to dress. Layering are the vest which can a 3piece suit or suit. It has many names. Won't get into buttons because they go both places. Gordon Henderson

I need to find a chart that shows what colors and patterns to match with what. Want to start dressing a big nicer when I go out. Not wear graphic t-shirts as much.

Did it come with trousers of the same material? If yes then it’s a suit. If no; it’s either a blazer or a sport jacket.
