kobyma2 I like it actually, but it is a bit of a convenient season, plus the animation is usually subpar. I think those two things are worse this season compared to others but it's still fun to watch and has some interesting concepts.
Watch the entire Doma arc and then you'll see why.
All of Yugioh is filled with plot convenience. For example, Téa/Anzu appearence in Death-T in the manga is more plot convenience than all the things LK made a plot convenience joke about in this season so far.

I understand why people have a hard time with season 4. There are definitely plot holes and things that don't make a lot of sense. At the same time I'm enjoying Pharaoh's character development. It's interesting to see just how lost he is without Yugi. I love that you keep that solemn atmosphere while keeping it hilarious at the same time. That is hard to pull off and you do it extremely well.

Then yugi is saved by Atem and their bond is stronger then ever as Atem accepts he isn't perfect and makes in my opinion the last season that much more emotional when they face each other for a chance for Atem to go back to his egpytian friends when his soul is laid to rest.

All else aside, the only reason Yugi had to sacrifice himself was because the Pharaoh played a card to give himself a slight edge in a children's trading card game with no stakes. I think it's fair to blame that on Yami, not Yugi.

@RealMelodyHope remember that this is a trial for Yami to conquer his guilt so that he is truly resolved to defeat Dartz. This dialogue with Yugi - abridged or not - is about testing Yami to grow stronger as a character to fight on without Yugi to SAVE Yugi and the world.

Evil Yugi/Yami is still a better villain than any of the other villains they’ve faced.
Honestly, it would've been better for this season if Yugi was the bad guy for the season. If Dartz had half a brain cell, he should've known the best thing to do was brainwash Yugi's soul of whatever into doing his bidding. Then they can have Joey and the others try to snap him out of it. Maybe darts can control him because of his insecurities or something that will lead to character growth or anything other than the bland characters with a tragic background that later gets revealed to have been caused by boring filler arc villian.
