Bowie was Madonna’s biggest music inspiration. He was a gender bending genius that always broke the rules and was ever changing. He lives in the stars now. ❤️

Bowie was a musical enigma. This guy was such a chameleon he even had a full blown alter ego named Ziggy Stardust for a time. I think aside from those pretty hefty accomplishments, the fact that he continued to make interesting and relatable music all through the decades and various generrations speaks volumes about his talent. He's another one of those artists where you have to ask, "which Bowie are we talking about? 70s, 80s? Which era, which sound and style?" I would say react to "Fashion" next for a totally different version of him.

Congratulations mate you've just begun the journey into the catalogue one of the most diverse musical artists of all time with Bowie. Art rock, glam, pop, new wave, funk, psychedelic rock, folk, soul, ambient, electronic, synthpop and many others it's all there and there's amazing music videos to go with a lot of it.
    NICE.

Stanley kubrick's 2001 Space odyssey was released in 1968, the moon landing happened the same year this song was recorded. And the end of hippie era was closing in. David bowie setting the stage for a new era.

So glad to hear you listening to Bowie, this song was mind blowing when it came out, he was recording right up to his death, always changing, if you had a list of his songs and stuck a pin in it, you would not find a bad one

That whole album is amazing!! Bowie was so talented. You should give a listen to "Suffragette City." Also, he wrote "All The Young Dudes" for the band Mott the Hoople, which is an AMAZING song which you should definitely check out

Bowie is amazing. So many songs of his I love. I am not very good at the titles though. But yes, his voice!! And I was always mesmerized by his different coloured eyes. Totally had a crush on him in the 80's. *lol*

Oh next song of David Bowie’s should be Ashes to Ashes!! In this, he goes full circle like 10 years and sings about Major Tom!! Or if you want to stay in the same era his song Starman is a good next one 🌟💫⭐️

There's another music video for the demo version of the song that was filmed in 1969. You'll get more of an idea what he was like when the song was written.
This music video was filmed during David's Ziggy Stardust era. That's Ziggy Stardust he's portraying. Ziggy's not involved with the song and wasn't created until 1972, but RCA used his appearance to market old material because he's an alien and it worked. Really, Ziggy was only linked to one album; The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars.
The song came out in 1969, ten days before the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. It's very historically important. Elton John heard this song and hired Bowie's producer to do Rocket Man. The album itself was simply called David Bowie or Man of Words/Man of Music depending on the territory it was released in, but RCA's 1972 repackaging came with the new name Space Oddity after this track. Unfortunately, many people ignored the other songs on it because of that decision. His two albums after it were critical failures because they didn't have gimmicks about outer space that the labels could sell. They're actually incredible records lyrically and musically, so musicians were the ones who understood them and got influenced by them. Nevertheless, that Ziggy Stardust album came out and the people at RCA saw dollar signs. Every album got more exposure, but the artistry was eclipsed by red hair. Still, these music videos are iconic and extremely exciting to watch. I'm glad you've had this experience.

@Chris Meadows I heard somewhere that he was fond of a typical English breakfast, which I am guessing would be bangers & mash. And he was a coffee drinker, not tea. I do remember reading that his fave dish was Shepherds Pie, though! (Haha, I came in late to the party on this one. Hope I made you laugh! 😂)
