What does an apartment complex for a population of 500,000 in China's Guizhou province look like?

  • There is an apartment complex in China, with 500,000 people living in it. It used to be the largest slum in China. Later, many apartments were built here through renovation. It is located in the city center and has convenient transportation. Due to the concentrated population, the price of goods is very low. Low, it looks depressing at first glance, so how do the people who live here feel? Let me take you to see it with the lens!

@@tonysofla While the community is basically mixed-used, It seems to depend on the building as to how it's divided. From what I can tell there are basically two classes: pure commercial and a podium-typology-mixed-residential. The former is commercial all the way up; the podium typology is where a few levels of the bottom, the podium, purely serve commercial use, while levels above the podium serve purely commercial. But no building is purely residential down to the ground.
From the looks of it, the transformation from commercial to residential once built (unless as a hotel) seems to be forbidden, however, commercial seems to be able to creep up beyond the podium into higher originally residential units.
