She worked complex criminal investigations and undercover operations, executed search and arrest warrants, and investigated both violent and financial crimes. An expert in the art and science of lie detection, human behaviour and cognitive influence, she was also an interrogator for the agency’s elite polygraph unit.
In this free livestreamed conversation, Evy offers a timely guide to empowerment, mental strength, and overcoming fear and abuse - a guide to becoming bulletproof.

Just coming out of it myself man. 13 yrs with a covert narcissist who apparently despises men and wants to just control and abuse them for their own sick false sense of self superiority complex.
March 10th it was dropped on me, April 23rd is when they walked out the door. Left Hugh and dry, no washer and dryer, no fridge, no shower curtain and took the family car..
7 days later was the anniversary of the date our son was to be born but we lost him in 2015 was a Mc.
It's like she timed it JUST right calculated to ALLL of it would hit me like a truck full of tons of bricks
It's just the falsehood of it all for over 13 yrs..
I'm so.Sorry you went thriugh what u did as well man. Everything did feel hopeless, the future all of it pointless and in dispair of it all.
I just have to restart my life completly and just move on without them ever seeing or hearing from them ever again. That's also the hard part.

I agree with her 1000% .. I had a tough childhood and never fell victim to substance abuse or severe depression. As I got older I had lots of stress and I saw friends who had a little stress like a boyfriend break up with them and they’d be on anti depressants and practically suicidal. The ppl who were deeply depressed grew up in a two parent home with grandparents and all that. When I broke up with a guy in most cases I just went on with my life and I had a broken home and my mom died when I was 2 of an overdose and my dad was a severe alcoholic. I always noticed I was different and more resilient to adversity than many others and I embraced that strength.

That’s what I thought too until it all came out in my early 30’s. Emotions and everything suppressed I had to deal with. In my teens and all throughout my 20’s, I thought I was good, I was ok. I was working and doing well for myself and didn’t follow in my parents footsteps, but the pain came out in different ways and you don’t realize that until later on.
I’m not saying that is your case, but for a lot of us, these issues do come up later in life to deal with and that’s ok. It really makes you even more stronger than before 💜

Schools are enveloped in the abundance of what needs to be taught. Over time, these “shoulds” have resulted in the dropping of really important subjects that within these forgotten subjects lie discrete details that contain thought provoking decision making plans.

The mindset of taking responsibility also takes so much stress away! I had a horrible situation with a housemate recently where they said "I never liked you" very out of nowhere (during a fight with her closest friend in the house) after it felt like we'd had a reasonable friendship. I sat down, took accountability, and realised I wouldn't have changed anything about how I behaved - meaning her problem with me was her problem. It also really helps you cut the social fat! I'm a mom to a cute, mischievous, bunch of very young children, living in strict lockdown almost a year and we're in a self quarantine after an exposure, so, the people I spend the most time with are toddlers. I don't want to think like them but by the end of each day, it can break me down almost that much, so I wear a blutooth earbud while doing dishes, making lunches, folding laundry, and sweeping up. I listen to teachers like Evy, audiobooks about the field of business I plan to move into once my littles are in school, or other motivational or informational grown-ups. I find just seeing a great lesson like this once sort of hits me and then passes, but if I make an effort to keep wise voices like this in my ear a little bit throughout the day, it can feel more balanced, and the repetition helps a passing lesson become an actual habit.

Thank you for teaching us how to recognize when we aren't recognizing or utilizing the power we have over our own life and how to turn it around so that we can be closer to living the quality of life that we welcome :) This reflects the "respond vs. react" lesson. Take stock of what exists in our life - determine what we like/want vs. what we don't like or want - then figure out a plan or strategy for how to achieve the best possible situation for our selves and then work to make it happen. We can only control our own actions, feelings, decisions, and choices that we make for our selves. We must be prepared to walk away from people and things that aren't good for us - things we cannot change - if those situations really aren't good for us.

I constantly had to check my initial reactions towards evil intentions and actions of other people, to the point where fear sends me to react to them with an overloaded thoughts of violence.
Then it would become a different level of danger!!!
    Its the self perseverance thing.🤔
Fortunately intelligence takes over and things tend to work out positively on my part.
It takes hard work to become mindful, resilient and in control.
Experiences teaches you how to navigate our reality, that for sure.
The part where we have to except other people's reality is where my arguments against it kicks in.
Especially when logic tells you that they're wrong.
I stand with my convictions, because I evaluate everything at play.
    I'm always aware.

Resilience shows the power we have in hopeless situations. Even when you are in the worst of situations you have power to change situations. There are so many layers and facets of becoming a bulletproof person (you don't have to go thro years of police academy like she did).
    1) we are always becoming fearless and brave. We are not done becoming brave.

One day i was leaving the gym and a girl was walking towards me and then passed me, something in my gut made me feel uneasy. it was a sunny day and i realised i saw her shadow turn around and circle back. the sun was low so even though she was maybe 8 metres away i could see her shadow. i reached my car and quickly got in locking the doors. she stopped at my passenger door and i turned and looked her right in the face and didn't break eye contact. she got the fright of her life and walked away. always trust you gut feeling about someone.

extra elaboration on this story. I left the parking lot and realised she was standing next to the bus stop so as i drove past her i slowed right down and caught her gaze again and made sure she knew that i knew what she was up to. she was trying to hide within the bus stop behind a bin. she looked dead scared after that.

Rigid people aren't just rigid, They have a history that has shaped them, just as you do.She makes it simple for herself, saying "you don't want to be rigid". instead of providing some really useful advice for them how to go about change. She is oblivious that one needs the information, support or assistence of others of what possibilities there are. When having experienced total powerlessness, there is learned helplessness and lack of habitude, energy, health and skills..

Its not about paranoia Hannah , like Evy says its awareness. When you drive your car, you put the belt on and check mirrors and stuff ... you are are not paranoid ( then you ll not drive a car , you ll take buss, biking , taxi , train or whatever ) . You are aware and prepared just in case .... after a while you do it automatically, becoming your second nature. Awareness on the street and public places should be ones priority nr 1. Look arround you ( exactly as she says , driving a car you see and so many things , your brain its in that mode because you did it so so many times.) .IMO. Bought Evys book , its a good read .

When visiting friends in San Diego we went to TeaJuana. It was crowded and my daughter and I stopped to buy a purse in the market when we got separated from our group. A man came up to us and hugged my daughter from behind. I grabbed his cheek and dug my nails into it and growled like a mamma bear to "let my daughter go". He immediately let go and said he was only kidding and ran away. I am usually a small 5'2", thin, shy person and never did anything like that and didn't think I just acted. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and rode the subway for several years to work. I think that helped me know what to do there in TeaJuana. Brooklyn girls are tough even though we may not know it.

I think she’s amazing. My ex (who happens to be a narcissist and possibly a psychopath) always put me down for being to nice to weak too considerate of others and would get so angry at me when I was nice to people but I always used that unknowingly to get what I wanted not in trying to manipulate them but truly by trying to see where they were coming from . And my ex always put that as a weakness not as a quality so always trying to train me to be more aggressive but it’s just not in me

Being in law enforcement especially elite unit like presidential protection unit is tough (lotsof strong personalities and egos). It is tougher for a woman. I can tell she’s naturally rational and logical. That’s how she can survive in her line of work. For those who lead by emotion, the learning curve is steep. It takes a lot to override natural instinct.
