Usman was close to welterweight GOAT, but he had to survive that last minute against Leon for 6th defense. Beat Belal for his 7th defense. Then in a 5 rounder, he would have beat Khamzat Chimaev for this 8th defense, and at that point he would have been GOAT. Honestly, that last minute headkick was legacy changing. He's #2 welterweight

I wish the majority of people understood how good Bellator roster was. They had legit P4P in a lot of weight classes without the depth… annoys the hell out of me.

Yes he was but his opponents were all past 35, past prime and on losing streaks
It's one of those inflated rankings. Like in 2019, Masvidal was #2 ww after beating till, askren, diaz. Guys like Colby/Burns/Edwards didn't get their big wins until 2020+. So by default Jorge is #2 but it's kind of a fluke. Similar example is Tai Tuivasa was #4 HW when he put together a streak of 5-0.

When gsp came back to fight bisping i legit thought dana was in on the whole thing, i saw it from a mile away that gsp only came back because he knew bisping was a beatable champion and he could win a second belt to cement his legacy. I knew he would never defend the title, so idk why dana would be upset.

Dana has always been very salty when it comes to certain fighters and because of that he tends to not give them credit. Couture, Frank Shamrock, GSP, etc.

What luke keeps missing is the ufc is slowly doing itself in. People are taking a look behind the curtains and peeping the ingredients. Ufc is about as much of a sport as the wwe or some local bar league. Luke is going to say ad the old gen loses interest, the new gen comes in. Except the ufc viewer numbers are down. Their way of doing business is absolutely hurting them. They are doing it to themselves.

Colby definitely has better top control than Gamrot and specially Merab(because Folk Style Wrestlers are superior in top control), Merab and Gamrot are better at getting takedowns than Colby, and Gamrot has a better BJJ than the other two, and what Merab does better is his relentlessness and never getting tired somehow

GSP is clearly the WW GOAT, but Usmans title reign was super exciting, vastly more exciting than GSP. You can hate Usman, but be honest about his career at the same time.

To Luke's point about fighters getting paid and getting out of the game early as possible...If the middle of the ranks fighters made enough money I truly believe we would see more career paths similar to Charles Olivera...in that he was a mid rank fighter and hit a skill plateau...continued to grind thru....and it is at this point that many many of these fighters bow out because of financial pressures. One can only assume at least a few of these guys get over the plateau and hit that next level after several losses....similar to the way Charles did.
Also on fighter pay....the skill gap between LHW, HW and the rest of the lower classes is just silly. What happened the last time we had a real HW American ATHLETE come to the sport?? Brock came in with almost no MMA training and ran through the top of the division. The only reason this happened was because Brock was already rich. HW guys here in the states with that much talent just don't take MMA pay seriously because why should they when they can go and make ten times as much in any other sport. In saying that I think there is NO SHOT Jon gives the UFC what they want and fights Aspinal...unless....UNLESS...he is really hard up for the money.
what's funny is Luke a couple of years ago said if you paid more guys more money, yeah they'll probably retire earlier and fight less. That doesn't justify paying them less tho, But it's just the truth.
