I watched F TROOP all the time. I traveled that road all the time, I ate in the rest, bought nice indian jewelry. Hated it when it closed down. Thx for the memories
It was a scheduled stop for the Greyhound Bus line. We stopped there as a kid traveling to Texas. The Pancake House was awesome. F-Troop was a favorite of mine as a kid and back then in the 70's this was cool. It was just a gift shop. I have a photo of me standing in front of it. Sad to see it this way.
Wow, in the 80's when I was trucking I remember stopping there one time when my wife had a chance to ride alond with me on one of my trips....."Memories"
I always liked stopping there along with the other places along Interstate 40, so sad to see them all close down like that. People are in such a hurry anymore they just do not want to stop and enjoy the journey. Thanks for sharing.
Wonder Hussy Hey babe, lost the one of the things I was going to send you. It's around here somewhere. When I find it, I'll let you know via email. In the meantime, keep up the adventures and vids.
12/9/2018 ... Stopped and did a bit of exploration the end of October 2018. After watching your video I wished I’d explored further. You did a great job. When we were there you could get into the restaurant but it was dark and without a flashlight it was kind hard to explore. I so want to go back! Did some research after I got home and learned that much of the property was closed/abandoned prior to 2014 when the gift shop finally closed. It is now for sale and when I see this stuff I wish like hell I was a billionaire 😆 ... again great video - best I’ve seen on Ft. Courage. NOTE: this was just a replica of Ft. Courage and was not the filming location of the F Troop series.
I was on a greyhound bus and actually stopped there to eat and rest wayyyyyy back in 91 lol I lived in Phoenix for awhile and was heading back to MN. The restaurant was really cool food was good but I felt like an outcast walking in lol in my punky slutty clothes got lots of stares hmmmm I seen the souvenir shop but no time to the amusement park I should dig up some old photos I think I might have yet . Awesome memories thank you 😊
I went here when I was 5 but had no idea where it was. Because of your video, I just learned it’s not too far from where I currently live in Flagstaff. Thanks for stopping here although it’s sad to see what’s become of the place.
The Fort Courage Trading Post was a regular stop for us back when we were on our summer vacation road trips. There was a great gift shop there that had old Life Magazines from the 40's & 50's, old 7-Up & Coke bottles, a bunch of cowboy & indian type wood carvings, etc. I can still hear my mom telling me that the name, "Fort Courage", came from a 60's television program called, "F Troop". I would later catch a few re-runs of the show and thought, "Hey, I've been to the Fort Courage Trading Post... I've been there". Oh well, I'm sorry that's it's no longer open. It seems like there's more things from my past, which are closed, than there are open.
Thanks again for showing all these cool places, I can't believe they say this place really only closed in 2014! Either it was already very run-down then or has decayed devilishly fast. As to all the stuff left behind, always take into consideration that the people may have taken a lot of other stuff with them but left those things behind that were unused and unworn for years. Like if the children are adults now but toys, shoes and clothes are still around from 20 years ago. Might come in handy as a cheap and convenient way to get rid of stuff. Unless things are found that a person in their right mind would never leave behind like family photo albums, collectibles and such I generally assume that was the case. That weight machine and trophies however kind of belong to that group of things.
Thank you WH! Fantastic..I looked it up and looks like that is on the Navajos Reservation. Now the yurt,Is a Hogan! And It looks like the real thing ..Fantastic job,Audio was great..TY73s
Thanks for checking Fort Courage out as I have drove past it many times on my way down to Phoenix Arizona area and I have always been curious about the place.
Wonderhussy luv the vids. U r spunky sassy and seem like a lot of fun. It's just great to go exploring with u. U find so many different and interesting places great job
Hi wonder hussy, love your videos, I've been going to abandoned house my whole life, I love the details like crap on the ground and pictures..keep up the amazing work
Ahhhh, good old Fort Courage (Home of F Troop), the first tower with the mattress and bird/bat crap, gives a new meaning to "Love Nest". Glad to hear (footsteps) in the second tower that you are not alone and that someone is with you while you were exploring the fort. I guess it is just the mother hen in me to worry when I see your vids when it seems you are by yourself. As always great vid, keep up the good work and be safe!!!
I'm glad you don't have High Anxiety. - - - Wait, tell me more about Raisin Bran. I'm old! - - -That whole place looks abruptly abandoned ... so mysterious. - - - Holy Cannoli!
Geez, it's like you read my mind. Corrected everything I wanted to comment on, and even apologized for the sniffles. Huge fan of these exploration videos! If you ever find yourself in Saskatchewan, Canada specifically around Moosejaw - I'd be honored to buy you a coffee. Keep up the great work. Take Care!
We passed by this place a few times on our way from Southern California to visit relatives in Chicago. I remember bugging my parents to stop but my dad just wanted to drive through. We didn't get to see many of the road side attractions like this one.
Been there many times in it's heyday. Was the movie set (outside filming mostly) for the TV show "F Troop" starring Forrest Tucker, Larry Storch, and Ken Berry. As a kid we were able to climb to the top of the tower, ride a buffalo, horses, and shoot bows & arrows. Also had animals to pet, with about a dozen live animals free roaming through the store. Ate at the restaurant, but not that good and cost a lot. Tourist attraction all the way. Even had Calvary and Indian dressed people to take pictures with. Sad to see it's closed.
Oh wow! My ex lived with her mother not far from there in a little town called Sanders when she was teaching on the Navajo res back in the early 80s while I was deployed to Okinawa for a year. I totally remember this place!
Hi, great video! I have been watching your videos for a long time now. I have enjoyed everyone of them. I really like the details you talk about, and all the work and travel you put into your videos. Keep going Wonder Hussy.
How cool. I showed it (well parts to my Dad cause of all the F-Troop comments and he used to watch F-Troop. I love all the stuff ypu look at. All the paperwork and medicine cabinets. Thank you :)
I like your videos. New subscriber. I was passing by that day coming back from Oklahoma. I seen you there. I never stopped to think that you were doing a video. Thanks for all you do. Love ya. Good luck.
The heat has caused some indoor hibernation for us. It is 122 degrees outside. We really enjoy your courageous explorations in unusual places, and you help us pass the time! One little reminder, though, please be careful of snakes! I'm sure you are, but sometimes we wonder. I used to live in Saline Valley, in a underground house, out by the sand dunes. We had a pet burro that wore a cowbell around her neck, and woke us up in the early morning to continue our talc, and silver mining operations. We had to be super careful of the Rattlesnakes that were around, they can ruin your whole day! Please keep doing what you do, and take care! ABT, in Bullhead City, Az.
Yes, it was. We were working for the Sierra club, protecting a tiny fish that lived in the hot springs. The "Tecopa Pup Fish". We did what we could. Also, we had a talc mining operation that was a good deal. We drove the talc to a processing plant in beautiful Trona. We also had a silver mine, and processed our own silver, chemically. Our living quarters were mostly underground, but we had a old army dome that was visible from the main dirt "Highway" that ran through the valley. There was a pilot that lived nearby, and he flew to L.A. once in awhile to pick up provisions for locals. This was in the early 1970s, so there have been changes, but it was nice to be there at that time. We would go exploring, like you do, to old miners cabins, and other cabins. My friends, and I drove an old U.S. Army ambulance that would go anywhere with ease, and with a little maintenance, it was very dependable. Again, Thank You! For all your travels.
Love your stuff WH. This one was a little long but still interesting to watch. You need to get a really good led light for filming. Glad to know you had a friend with you. I saw his shadow move across a wall in one shot. Kinda like a ghost scootin through the room. Trippy. Keep exploring and I will keep watching.
I like the fact that you showed this one. Not as much of interest to see at this location as at most of your others. It does show how the structure of an area can drastically change in a reasonably short time. Also, how much effort you have to put in to give us some of your videos Good job girl. Looking forward to your next video.
Glad to see you finally took some one with you on your ramblings. It always made me nervous, you doing your tours by yourself. Where is your walking stick? I like your commentary and your ethics. You do find some very strange places to explore. Thanks.
Just stopped at an exit before that one late November '16. When I went out to my car it had a layer of ice. When I tried to put the window down the window pulled out of the tray and then fell down in the door. That was fun driving at those temperatures with no window. It was on a Sunday so only a tire shop in Gallup was open. They managed to get the window to the point there was a 2 inch opening. All the way back to Ohio like that!
Fort Courage Trading Post is the "Home of F Troop" from the 60's TV series. We must have driven right past it on the way to Flagstaff. We didn't stop there but did stop at a few other old Rt. 66 sites.
Wow! Does make you wonder what happened. Maybe it couldn't hold out for the economy to come back up?? May never know. Great video none the less WonderHussey!!!
As always,Amazing! I Love shit like this,I'm always snooping around abandoned places, have since I was a kid. Thanks again for sharing, love the content. C-Ya!,,,Peace! OH! ,and Meow Wolf was Fuckin' Awesome! I'd love to be trippin balls through there.
Did you ever think about using a metal detector outside. God knows what goodies ya could find. I do it here in NJ on the beaches and I love it. The thrill of the hunt. Oh yea.
Yeah, I’m happy that when you go into some of these places that you wear proper footwear. Ever since hearing you got nailed by that nail awhile back was concerning. Cause I know how much you love your flip flops. I’m moving up from your beginning episodes and hope to see that you might consider some books with Vibram soles and maybe even some steel toes. All in heavy duty leather. I think you’d ROCK some big ass boots, anyhow!
looks like the end of the line. some polish developer bought the whole place lock stockand barrel, stripped the appliances and didnt bother to dump the personal stuff. now they use it as an asset on a crappy loan. thats America. BTW there is no booze on the rez between 4 corners and gallop
Where they filmed F troop in the 60s . I have been there twice while it was open for tours. Was "not" a yurt -that was a sweat lodge . Who knew when I grewup I would be in the U.S. Cavalry.
Awesome vid!!! I recall some other urbex'r going through this place a year or so back but he didn't cover nearly as much of it as you did. I don't think it was fenced in at that time either. You do an excellent job and I love all your narrations; it keeps it interesting. I've been past that place before but I couldn't get the Greyhound driver to stop. Don't know what his problem was ~ LOL
I've noticed a lot of people say "there" when they mean to say "they're." I read a lot of books when I was growing up and whenever I came across a word I didn't know I'd ask my mom and she would always say, "look it up in the dictionary, you'll remember it." And I was always got so mad at her for not just telling me what a word meant. But she was right, I did remember from looking it up. I think you're the only person I've ever met (well, I've never met you but I've followed you on YT) who has a bigger vocabulary than I do. I don't mean in technical or scientific "jargon" words which a lot of people use today, techno-speak because they think it makes them sound smart. It just makes them sound confused. As a writer you're taught to get your idea across using the simplest words possible to reach the largest audience. If you use a lot of 50 cent words in your writing fewer people will understand it. So don't try to get fancy and verbose. But anyhoo, I find the study of language fascinating and I love it when people speak fluently. You use words that even I have to look up. You are very fluent. I speak intermediate Spanish and I'm trying to get fluent in that now. Please don't think I'm bragging about myself, I just love to talk about words and what the correct word is for exactly what you want to say. When you see a sail out on the water is it just white or is it "pearlescent" or "white as a ghost" or "as white as freshly fallen snow."
Robert Winkler love your investigative techniques ... Go to Phillips Seneca abandoned town and Fort Apache boarding school grounds, ignore anyone trying to turn you away. I know from experience. But beware of Kinishba Ruins nearby; there is a hidden camera (found out the hard way)
FYI restaurants: If the equipment is still in there, they don't want it vandalized. It's very expensive to replace it. It belongs to the property and still gives value.
gee gramps stopped at every tourist trap from niagra to Tijuana. we slept at the wigwams and the dinosaurs were huge coming round the bend and down by Wilcox Az. is the thing what is the thing see the thing. It was still there in 2001 but it was an original mummy pulled by Kincaid from the grand canyon. Big wow some really gnarly garbage pits... lots of cool old icons of the age of excess....you know all the old casino stuff went somewhere and tearing down old apartments and America has a flood of junk
Fort Courage was built to cash in on the popularity of classic TV show, F Troop. Fort Courage is a replica fort built to resemble the one from the classic show. Possibly closed in 2014.
Wonder Hussy!. I am very curious on how you financially fund yourself to go all over to all of these different locations and film your video's that are just a blast to watch!. and I am blown away by the size of your little camera and how well it film's your expeditions!. how come a good looking woman like you could still be so single??.
I'm a hairdresser in Reno my partner Scott and I love you, we watch you every day, we would like to rent you for the day and take us on an adventure is that possible?
She does tricks in a Vegas, lol. I'm not sure if that desert location is to my liking in the video. It looks like a forest of trees in the background. But anyway, I don't like the desert and that's why people need to go to Amazon (and linked in my videos) and buy my "Impact" a James Grider novel so I can slowly amass enough money to move out of the desert into a wetter, cooler, forested area.
That was build and run by the Ortega family out of Gallup, also based in Santa Fe, Scottsdale, Phoenix, etc. Since Armand died and the casinos opened in NM - biz basically dried up when people turned to gambling instead of buying Indian jewelry except at the casinos. That was where Denny Ortega & family with grandchildren lived - rest his soul.
I’m guessing you have always been curious, and you seriously have some brass “cahones”….. but I have to say your skills have really improved, especially filming… but I love your work , and you do work very hard…. Narration, editing, your “B” footage and music …. You’re a one woman filming crew
OK so you had to mention the TV's. I had 3 old ones like the ones you showed to get rid of except you're no longer allowed to just toss them in the trash. So I advertised on Craigslist and a lady said she wanted all 3. So being the overly curious type I offered to deliver since otherwise it would be a wait until she could get over to my little town. When I got there I waited until they were unloaded to increase the her commitment level and asked "What are you using these for?" ...........she said "Dog beds"........I'm like what?? This: www.blogher.com/snippets/vintage-tv-dog-bed
OMG I love that idea!!! I personally think it would be cool to have a wall of these old TVs in my living room -- an entire wall -- with my actual TV in the middle.
As an individual you are not allowed to trash, though many do, but corporations and businesses are allowed to leave a giga mess behind; the law clearly favors the powerful, not ordinary citizens. So much for phony US "democracy".
Fort Courage home of F-Troop a sit com from back in the 60’s. I remember seeing this fort in 1970, when my family was headed to California.
I watched F TROOP all the time. I traveled that road all the time, I ate in the rest, bought nice indian jewelry. Hated it when it closed down. Thx for the memories
I love watching your older installments 😍🤩
You are awesome;
Keep up your Good work ✌
It was a scheduled stop for the Greyhound Bus line.
Love that spooky music with the beat right on 👍☕️the right background tune helps everything ☮️🌵
I always liked stopping there along with the other places along Interstate 40, so sad to see them all close down like that. People are in such a hurry anymore they just do not want to stop and enjoy the journey. Thanks for sharing.
You know I really should be working but here I am again taking a virtual tour with you in some woebegone place.
"I'm sure that was a hum-dinger of a baby shower." Who else would say something like that?
THAT'S OUR GIRL.
thanks!
Wonder Hussy
Hey babe, lost the one of the things I was going to send you. It's around here somewhere. When I find it, I'll let you know via email. In the meantime, keep up the adventures and vids.
12/9/2018 ... Stopped and did a bit of exploration the end of October 2018. After watching your video I wished I’d explored further. You did a great job. You sure are lucky to be able to explore these cool places. If I tried it I would have been cited for trespassing way back at the abandoned mine stop.
Doug K my luck too would of been busted for sure by now
Thanks again for showing all these cool places, I can't believe they say this place really only closed in 2014!
I love you, and your adventitious videos, Ms. Hussy!!!

Have driven by here numerous times going to LA or Las Vegas . Never stopped when it was open,I always got fuel and food at Gallup. Great video!!
We passed by this place a few times on our way from Southern California to visit relatives in Chicago. I remember bugging my parents to stop but my dad just wanted to drive through. We didn't get to see many of the road side attractions like this one.
I am enjoying the channel thanks. I am a wheelchair user so it's nice to see the areas that would be difficult for me to explore.

Hi Wonder Hussy! Ya, That Fort Courage was a roadside attraction for the old TV Show "F Troop" pretty cool video WH...!
F Troop was filmed on the back lot of Warner brothers. That is not the real fort courage. Bummer
That was a cool place. Thanks for the video.
Nice urbex exploration video with great stroytelling coutesy of Wonderhussy.

it's a bummer that 1 couldn't get in the pancake house and store!
another great adventure!
70's decor. I hated it then and I hate it now. You did a great job on this video. That tower was interesting.
Loving this one, also!
So glad you weren't alone. I was worried about you!
Glad to see you finally took some one with you on your ramblings. It always made me nervous, you doing your tours by yourself. Where is your walking stick? I like your commentary and your ethics. You do find some very strange places to explore. Thanks.
WOW! I just discovered this. Really cool...
So sad many family trips stopped there when I was a kid an good food at the restaurant too long time ago of course
Pass by there all the time traveling back and forth from Las Vegas to Albuquerque
I use to go in there I remember when that was open :-(

It’s always a little sad to see the destroyed remnants of someone’s life. Doesn’t look like a happy existence.
We used to stop there on our way to Datil New Mexico- it was a busy place back in the mid 80's
Hey, that pink Harley would of gone good with your big pink boat that you drove into Vegas with, baby!
Wow, very cool. I didn't think it got that cold there. I just looked at the weather report and it said possible snow 1-13-17 Houck AZ.
Fort Courage Trading Post is the "Home of F Troop" from the 60's TV series. We must have driven right past it on the way to Flagstaff. We didn't stop there but did stop at a few other old Rt. 66 sites.
I remember that wooden tower had dummies dressed in 1800's cavalry uniforms hangin out the upper windows
I love wonder vids
nice video.
Wow! Does make you wonder what happened. Maybe it couldn't hold out for the economy to come back up?? May never know. Great video none the less WonderHussey!!!
I ate breakfast many mornings at Fort Courage. Along with Two Guns, Twin Arrows and Meteor city.

I have to tell you that although your channel is Wonder Hussy, I always think Wander Hussy which to me is quite fitting. Have a far out day!
that's my second nickname! :-D
Good vid.
if I remember correctly the fort was built as a set for an old comedy TV series (f-troop)
your ryte about name of tv show and forts name but thats not the same one
you're exactly right
Larry Storch the recurring carnival barker...I really don't think they did but cursory films they threw in over and over. I was in that tourist shop
Wow wow

ABANDONED used-to-be personal stuff sir!
@@hiramhogg5815 So what?? If you dont want others to read... Clean up your mess.
This place is creeepy!
looks like the end of the line. some polish developer bought the whole place lock stockand barrel, stripped the appliances and didnt bother to dump the personal stuff. now they use it as an asset on a crappy loan. thats America. BTW there is no booze on the rez between 4 corners and gallop
Where they filmed F troop in the 60s . I have been there twice while it was open for tours. Was "not" a yurt -that was a sweat lodge . Who knew when I grewup I would be in the U.S. Cavalry.
Fort Courage wasn't that the name of F troop TV show ha ha ha . Cool be careful in your many adventures .
The wooden yurt is actually a hogan. Don't mean to sound condescending, I really like your videos.
A hogan! thanks! :-D
But likely it's cultural memory from back before they crossed over the land bridge. Same form different materials.
Robert Winkler love your investigative techniques ... Go to Phillips Seneca abandoned town and Fort Apache boarding school grounds, ignore anyone trying to turn you away. I know from experience. But beware of Kinishba Ruins nearby; there is a hidden camera (found out the hard way)
Wonderhussy Adventures traditional dwelling of the Navajo
I was there in about '83, it was open then.
Hi, Have you ever gone into a building and found somebody inside? Have the cops ever
cought you?
Odd someone would leave a weight machine like that behind. Those things aren't cheap.
I passed by there early in 2012, I thought it was still open then.
Big wow some really gnarly garbage pits... lots of cool old icons of the age of excess....you know all the old casino stuff went somewhere and tearing down old apartments and America has a flood of junk
the outside of the motel looked like the Bates Motel !!!
I remember when it was still open. Some 11 years ago
As a Sanders I'd like to salute those 'Sanders' things out there, which I'd never known about till now! Seems some of us flourished thereabouts..
You should invest in a set of paper painter's masks to carry around for just such occasions.
Fort Courage was built to cash in on the popularity of classic TV show, F Troop. Fort Courage is a replica fort built to resemble the one from the classic show. Possibly closed in 2014.
Hay look at the twisted rod that’s makes the screen on the tower portals. Thanks BigAl California.
Wonder Hussy!. I am very curious on how you financially fund yourself to go all over to all of these different locations and film your video's that are just a blast to watch!. and I am blown away by the size of your little camera and how well it film's your expeditions!. how come a good looking woman like you could still be so single??.
I make about $35k a year modeling and doing trade show work, etc. That's plenty to fund my adventures!
Kieran Lepley Yea you can see her porn pics on Google. I can't remember her real name but she's on their doing her "photoshoots"
need to go to silverpeak, az . . .
That was build and run by the Ortega family out of Gallup, also based in Santa Fe, Scottsdale, Phoenix, etc. Since Armand died and the casinos opened in NM - biz basically dried up when people turned to gambling instead of buying Indian jewelry except at the casinos. That was where Denny Ortega & family with grandchildren lived - rest his soul.
cool
I’m guessing you have always been curious, and you seriously have some brass “cahones”….. but I have to say your skills have really improved, especially filming… but I love your work , and you do work very hard…. Narration, editing, your “B” footage and music …. You’re a one woman filming crew
when I was a kid that place was packed, the name comes from the TV series f troop.
That's where they filmed the old TV show F Troop. I went there when I was 13 years old
