The Series That PERFECTED The Sherlock Trope | Psych

- Almost any detective / mystery story in the last 100 years takes some heavy inspiration from Sherlock Holmes. Even if they're not being overt. A lot of these are better than others and one in particular always jumped out in my mind as having PERFECTED formula. Let's take a look at how Shawn and Gus managed to perfectly portray everything that made Sherlock Holmes such a great character to begin with.

This show needs to be talked about way more than it is, it is still as good today as it was when it first aired. This is the one show I can rewatch, and never get tired of.
Agreed. I’m surprised it isn’t talked about more
@@10KProductions Me too, I’ve tried to find more videos talking about it. Yours is the only one I’ve found so far.
Well thanks for being here, friend
If you need more, I highly recommend another show from the BBC, namely Luther
Very "Sherlock" like in terms of how smart the main character is
Aye men brother
The reason Psych is good, is that Shawn never pretended to be special. He was a con man. He was a genius but didn’t actually know it. My favorite was when he said the detective’s exam was easy and got a 100 on it when he was 14. He wasn’t bragging. It was just part of his life. So when he gives up his secrets at the end it feels genuine because they were all clues we all saw.
I say this as a massive fan of Psych, are you American? Americans generally just hate smart people and the only way they can allow them to be smart is if they are a hot mess in all other areas of life. They definitely can't be considered special the way singers or athletes or hot people are. And someone as intelligent as Shawn cannot ever show any pride or confidence and still be accepted.
So I see what you're saying but the whole premise of the show is him pretending to be special
@@karlhess7278 you are right. What I meant was that he was never got caught up in the con. He never pretended the con worked because he was special. Some con men think that their con works because they have a special ability. Shawn wasn’t like that.
@@Oonagh72 I got what you were saying :) agreed
And its hilarious how they all were competing about detective scores, and Shawn got the 100
Such a good show!
"Gus is a helpful partner"
At the same time, shows a clip of Gus absolutely wrecking a crime scene
That's because he heard about Pluto, and it was messed up.
I said exactly that! 😂😂😂
@@fobincYou know that's right.
That’s one of the other things that made the show shine, I think- every major character had their equal share of moments to show off their talents and wits, while also having equal opportunities to show off their flaws and embarrass themselves. Gus is Shawn’s “straight man,” but Gus is also as much as a goofball if not more in some areas. So Gus can wreck a crime scene one day, and competently save the day the next. It isn’t contradictory, it’s just complex humanity at work, and I love it so much.
the biggest part I love about psych is that Shawn isn’t a massive dick to everyone around him. He’s a immature jackass at times but actually acts like a human being
I beg to differ at least when it comes to Gus. He has pushed his boundaries and gone against his wishes frequently.
To me that feels like dickish behaviour
Pierre Despereaux isn’t Moriarty, he’s Irene Adler!
Yeah Psych already has a Moriarty
Moriarty is yin / yang and desperaux is alder
Irene Adler, including the romance, changed to a bromance 😉😂
@@jsbrads1oh it’s a romance. IIRC James played Shawn as bisexual.
I do like the twist Elementary put on Irene/Moriarty
Another thing that I think really makes the show so good is how they visualize Shawn's hyper-observance and eidetic memory. When Shawn enters a new space or meets a new person we get to see him notice all of the little details and while some are things that he clocks immediately as being important, often he doesn't pick up on that until later and we can see him remember through flashbacks noticing those details that we did see the first time but in a new light. This is another way that Psych lets us play along and try to remember those details and how they might be important for ourselves. I also just think they do deduction so much better than most Sherlock-ish stories too. When Shawn pulls out his "oh I knew they would do x because I saw them do y and knew they were z" it feels good and earned, rather than pulled from nothing.
Hard agree
I thought I was shawn Spencer when i was a kid lol
@@10KProductionsI just keep thinking about HBomberguy *flaming* "Sherlock" for not being a mystery show, with almost every mystery being solved off-screen (and by insane leaps of logic that are really likely to be wrong), and how Psych just perfectly demonstrates what "Sherlock" should've been doing.
The first episode of CW's Flash series used this camera trick, too. I was really looking forward to watching Crime Scene Analyst Barry Allen being a significant part of the show, like Shawn's deductive skills are here.
Funnily enough because of the special effects used to show him hyper-fixating I as a kid thought he was actually psychic despite how they would constantly call back to how he isn’t
I like how it hasn't ever become a huge pop culture show. Psychos are a community that despite a lack of size, still managed 8 seasons and 3 (hopefully 4) sequel movies. Something about this show feels so personal. Like Shawn and Gus are actually all our best friends, and we're just hanging out with them while they solve a mystery.
There were movies?? I've seen all the seasons but I didn't know about movies!
@@ehsanrahee7411 yup and a musical
@@patrickconrad396 I need to get out from under this rock
Especially with Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson going out on tour and having a podcast :’) it definitely feels personal
@@patrickconrad396 The musical is part of the normal episode run, though, if I remember correctly?
Psych and Monk were absolute masterpieces and I cannot believe they didn’t get the widespread appreciation they deserved
I love that Psych references obliquely Monk but in a way that puts them in the same universe. After Juliet moves to San Francisco and Shawn follows her, he says he'll start doing the same work but for the SFPD, and Juliet tells him they already have someone to do his job, he's in the victim's pantry alphabetizing the food.
They both had too much cringe humor for me. They were good and I could enjoy most of an episode (Psych was better than Monk in that respect) but I couldn't just enjoy the shows regularly thanks to how much cringe humor they used.
Monk, Psych, and the Mentalist are some of my favorite detective shows to this day! Monk starts a bit slower than them, but the story is wonderful!
@@magicalgirlmelo There is a new Series called Tracker, but it is more about to find Missing people.
Monk was glorious
Psych is one of the greatest shows of all time; one of my favorites. Psych will never be forgotten as long as I'm around. I quote it constantly, especially "You hear about Pluto? That's messed up, right?" and "Are you a fan of delicious flavor?" Oh, and of course, "I've heard it both ways."
I still use that one all the time
You know that's right.
Come on son!
my favorite alias for Gus is actually the one that Henry gives him, Methuselah Honeysuckle.
I just said that same thing.
@@futoijosei honestly I think the one that is just so funny and quick was "My name is Shawn, this is also Shawn no relation"
Magic Head
I literally can never forget the sweet and simple Burtawn Gaster!
Bud from the Cosby Show
Pierre Desperaux is more Irene Adler than Prof. Moriarty.
1. While they were opposite sides, they genuinely like each other.
2. Desperaux isn't trying to hurt Shawn and Gus, just embarrass them and look cool getting away with it.
3. Moriarty has an analogue in the Yin/Yang characters.
Desperaux being like Irene Adler is such a cool connection that I never recognized. I knew Shawn was suppose to be like Sherlock, Gus, John. Shawn's Dad is suppose to be like Sherlocks brother. Karen is suppose to be Lestrade, and Lassie is the one police detective that is always suppose to try one upping Sherlock but never getting far, but making him a regular.
I don't know who Julliet would be, maybe the house keeper? Since she has more to her than just being a housekeeper
@@danishson97 don’t forget how awesome Mrs. Hudson is. When ever the house is attacked because of Sherlock she stands her ground by either playing the part of a fake victim to conceal evidence or fighting back with actual weapons. Juliet is definitely a Mrs. Hudson. She marvels at Shawn while calling him out for his crap even before she knew he was faking. Jules uses her natural charm to trick people and she definitely fights back with style. Mrs. Hudson and Juliet are the care taking, sanity keeping figures with a sharp edge.
@@danishson97 the reason why female characters didn’t get very much time in old stories is because they were portrayed as perfect and no one wants to read or watch a perfect character. Perfection in entertainment often becomes boring. This is why Mrs. Hudson can surprise the audience with actions she has performed off screen and revealed after to Sherlock, doing things one wouldn’t expect of a perfect housekeeper. An old time perfect female character acts when she needs to, not randomly, that’s why the story typically didn’t follow them. You’d see Mrs. Hudson cleaning up Sherlock’s sty of a study and continue with her work until she needs to do something extremely rare where her sharp edge and heroics would shine. With Juliet they use a slightly different take since she’s a detective on the front lines. Still she’s out of the loop since Shawn’s the main character and she usually isn’t in on his schemes. Another reason she isn’t given as much screen time is because she was basically perfect. Her perfection counters Lassie’s obsession with work and beating Shawn, making her more entertaining to watch. When they separated her from Lassie in the show’s partner trade she had to counter Shawn instead, entertaining to watch but uncomfortable because it messed with the dynamic. The major character change for her happened when they had to separate Juliet from Lassie in the first movie. She can’t afford to be perfect anymore otherwise she’d be boring to watch or forced off screen, that’s why we see her make some major mistakes such as keeping secrets from Karen about her daughter’s criminal activity. She even lied to her partner. That’s the moment the audience knew she was going to have a bigger story because of how unlike her that was. Juliet is Mrs. Hudson all the way. Just a more shown Mrs. Hudson.
Adler and Desperaux were both wily characters who loved showing up their rivals. If they played chess against their rivals, it would be "how can I lead them into a trap that's so obvious they miss it?"
Moriarty and Yin/Yang were much deadlier threats and weren't afraid to do play dirty. They'd win at a chess match by coating the pieces with a toxic substance
Another thing that Shawn has over all these other "Sherlocks": He isn't an asshole to everyone he meets.
Psych is one of my all time favorite shows and criminally underrated. I loved the dynamic of Shawn and Gus as much as I did JD and Turk from Scrubs. I think I need a rewatch now...
Totally agree. The chemistry between James Roday Rodriguez and Dule Hill was truly outstanding. I never doubted for one moment that they had been best friends ever since childhood. They know each other so well that they're basically brothers. Quite heartwarming.
I'd recommend this series without hesitation to just about anyone. Even if you're not that big a fan of mystery or police procedural shows, Gus and Shawn have such a fun, quirky partnership with such great comedic timing, that it's still worth tuning in and binge watching.
I love how in the episode where Shawn goes on the Spanish soap opera, Jules is frustrated at how easily Shawn makes friends
Definitely always gave me Turk and JD vibes. Love it.
@@nicholaskling2425This reminded me of how much I loved when they did the variations of the opening theme. I believe that episode in which it was sung in Spanish.
I mean, he still is a bit of an asshole, but more of an affable and joking asshole than a cold and demeaning one
I’ve been saying this.
I wish you’d touched on Lassie. Lassie has always been reminiscent of Inspector Lestrade to me.
You should watch _Psych: the BEST Sherlock Holmes adaptation in existence_ by talistheintrovert. It's 3½ hours long and it's an incredible overview and character analysis.
Reminiscent but less of the bumbling police inspector. Yes Lassie can be the butt of the joke but he was still a competent detective who just got shown up by Shawn because Shawn was thinking outside of the box which does rub off on Lassie throughout the series.
@@TheGamefreak612 And worth noting that Lassie's disdain of Shawn is understandable, with how Shawn is usually badly wrong with his first couple of conclusions about the case, and typically engages in methods that would see him kicked off the force within a couple of cases if he were an actual officer.
@@Axterix13And he purposefully tries to annoy Lassie a lot of the time.
@@shockthetoastyes, but in the end, Lassie not only tolerates, but to an extent enjoys Shawn's bs.
I actually just started rewatching Psych recently, and it holds up so well. I’m so shocked it isn’t talked about more.
Same! I rewatched a good bit of it in prep for this video but and was honestly surprised at how much I still enjoyed it
The OP theme FOREVER imprint in your soul.
@Ancaryvan "i know that you know, that I'm not telling the truth. I know that you know, they just dont have any proof".
I swear to this day that opening song still pops up in my head at the most random times.
Psych is top tier. I'm glad they've continued the series with movies and always looking forwards to the next one to keep the duo alive
I loved how in Elementary Sherlock is teaching Watson who eventually becomes a full fledged partner.
Psych is still easily my favorite detective shows (along with Monk). Even as silly as it got near the end, it's been nice to see a return to form with the movies. Always glad to see it get love!!
Same here! Such a solid show that I don’t think is talked about enough
Yes!!! They're the only TV shows I rewatch.
_Magic Head!_
_Two Heads Working Together As One!!_
Anyone else search for the pineapple in each episode? Such an amazing show and so easy to binge watch. It is by far one of my top favorite series
Always
Gotta keep an eye out for the PINEAPPLE!
Absolutely
@@TheGodlyPineappleLove your name 🍍🍍
Psych and Leverage were my jam in the mid/late 00's
I used to love this show. When GTA V game out, my main car was always a blue smart car called "The Blueberry".
Psych is easily my all time favorite series. Glad they're getting some extra love. I love the character Despereaux. Cary Elwes is such a perfect actor for that role!!!
Agreed!
YES!!! Psych is a show I have watched several times and own a few dvds of it! So glad to see someone appreciate the series!!
It’s a great show! Thanks for watching
I never made the connection of how genius the show is by adding the "super sniffer" and now that I realize it I love it even more. The fact that of the five senses the three we use most to interact with our surroundings are sight, sound, and smell so the show gave the audience surrogate the ability to pick up and identify smells and has him relay this information audibly is just amazing.
There was a time when the USA Network had the best character-driven shows. Their tagline was even on point with their branding at that time: Characters Welcomed. Monk, Psych, Burn Notice, Suits, etc.
And White Collar
@@elementalargon7597thank you for not forgetting White Collar lol
The way I recognised the "boom, boom, boom... muffins" clip without the audio lmao
anyway this is a great video!!
Glad you enjoyed, friend!
Every time I eat a muffin, I do the *boom, boom* lol
Boom boom boom…HoOoOoly GhoOost
I feel like I just saw a video exploring this exact topic. Parallel thinking? Or did everyone just suddenly remember how great psych is as a show?
Talisnottheintrovert (probably spelled it wrong) just made a phenomenal almost 4 hour video essay about how Psych is the best adaptation of Sherlock Holmes so you probably did watch a video like this
I just saw it had randomly returned to streaming on Amazon Prime so perhaps people are getting to rewatch it in its entirety
I can't believe that I've watched House MD through like 3 times and never once thought about the relevance of the name
Also, if I recall correctly, Doyle based Sherlock Holmes to a Doctor he met in real life.
lol that's crazy. I always watched the show through that lense.
Psych is my favorite show of all time, from the first moment you can tell it’s special. James Roday Rodriguez is probably my favorite actor at this point, the chemistry is insane, all the actors are perfect. And it’s just a perfect show in general, nuff said.
Pierre Desperaeux isn’t Moriarty OR Irene Adler, he’s Hercule Flambeau from Father Brown. Father Brown is similar to Sherlock in many ways, based on a series of books written in the 1940’s, he’s a catholic priest/detective/affable goofball/incredibly intelligent. He solves crimes with his partner(s), the local police detective HATES him, and his nemesis is Hercule Flambeau, a French thief with no accent who steals holy relics and always manages to get away. They have excellent banter, and even help each other out sometimes.
Psych isn’t just inspired by Sherlock Holmes, it’s a show with many inspirations, from Father Brown to Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirout, to Colombo to David Lynch. It’s an excellent mishmash.
Despereaux came first. Father Brown didn't start until 2013 while psych ended in 2014 (apart from the movies of course)
Psych is the greatest show to ever exist!!! THANK YOU for making this video dude :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
I never would have thought about _Psych_ being a Sherlockesque show. Love that series!
Shaun and Gus are hands down one of the best duos in tv history. I felt their synergy really shined.
This series was very fun and interesting when it comes to the cases and the shenanigans they were doing to collect evidence.i felt what hurt it is the absence of a central storyline throughout some seasons to increase interest. They tried it way later but i don't think they did it well.
Most of the movies they made though are very enjoyable. they really kept my interest long after the series was gone
Psych didn’t just perfect Sherlock Holmes. Psych perfected the art of television. It is one of the greatest series ever made.
Psych is and was amazing! Glad to see it get some love
Great show. Thanks for being here friend
I quote this show daily… it’s so freaking good. And it has Cary Elwes as a suave art “thief” and the characters never get boring.
Psych was my childhood show
It was a solid one!
Had no idea house was a sherlock trope but now i see it n idk how i missed it
I don't know as much as I love Psych but seeing what happened the internet fandom has devolved i'm kinda glad its not more well known it fills this early 2000's space in my head where the internet hasn't really taken off yet and reminds me of my childhood.
I remember watching Psych in 2020 and 2021 and it’s one of the funniest shows, and later realized this is like my favorite type of genre other including White Collar and Brooklyn Nine-Nine and now Sherlock 🔎🎻
Psych nailed what the BBC mega show totally missed. I'm glad to see more people talking about the show!
Till this day Psych is one of my all time favorite shows, every episode is hilarious. Love the cast as well
Another thing I love about Psych, besides everything mentioned here, is the humor and sometimes kinda fourth wall breaking nods.
Like, in flashbacks to Sean's childhood, his dad is played by the same actor that plays his dad in the present day, but he wears a wig in the flashback scenes. At one point in the present day, the dad is complaining about being old or something, and Sean is like: hey, it's not so bad, slap a wig on you and you'd look about 20 years younger in an instant.
There's so much to love about this show. Definitely go watch it if you haven't yet. I think it's on Prime.
Psych was such a good show. Funny enough, I never connected it with Sherlock. Also, speaking on Sherlock, the RDJ movies are absolute fire.
Psych is a better Sherlock than Sherlock ever was. "Perfect" is the exact right word here, and good on you for using it.
Edit: Also, Gus is great. By FAR the best Watson. And one of the best characters ever put on a television screen.
You know that's right.
The reason I love this show, is for as good as the crime aspect of the show is that is still somehow not the reason to love the show, its The Duo. Seriously, they dont even have to solve crimes, I could literaly watch them running a food truck business and it would still somehow feel like the same as Psych.
But on the topic of Audience being able to deduce stuff, one of the few times I've actually done it before the show is in the episode Psy vs Psy. The female "psychic" says he has a scar on his right cheek (but as the audience we are to believe she came in before shawn and Gus and saw the footage but the footage is only of his left side, so she either was actually psychi or she knew him).
Desperaux is Irene Adler and Mr yang is Moriarty tbh
Based take
Underrated show. Never got to watch it until I binged it during the pandemic. After it became my favorite show.
psych is my favorite show of all time. i watched when i was a kid with my dad and have continued to rewatch it today as an adult. it is my comfort show and i still find myself laughing and seeing something new from it. it deserves all the praise it gets and much more. i have never heard anyone dislike it even if it may not be someone’s cup of tea
You HAVE to talk about CBS's Elementary next, it's not as funny as Psych, and it's not perfect but It's been considered the best 21st century adaptation of Sherlock's character and best utilization of Watson by people who have watched it.
BUT Lesser people know about this 7 seasoned series.
There is an essay by Borges criticizing the same thing about Conan Doyle: the concealing of information from the reader, the unfair advantage of the protagonist having additional data that's key to solving the case but isn't shared. He then goes on to write his own mystery tale under a pseudonym.
I've been revisiting Psych since I only watched it as a kid, and it's been such a blast that I wanted to find videos on it a few months ago: and found nothing! Now two videos have been uploaded recently about it. Great video!
HELL YEAH Psych appreciation finally 🙏🙏🙏
Hell yeah bro
i always thought of Despereaux more of a Irene Adler and Yin/Yang more of a Moriarty
Psych, Monk, CM, they played back to back on ION TV it was a great time in cable history
I'm so glad I found this video. One of the most underrated shows out there. Please do more Psych videos
Psych is one of my all time favorite shows. My mom always watched it while I was growing up and now I’m surprised how unnoticed it goes
The 2 biggest reasons i think its the best Sherlock type show are 1. They dont make him into a psychopath. For some reason evwry show wants to make the lead detective some weird psycho who hates and manipulates everyonwe. In this show hes juat a normal, likeable person. And 2. His friendahip with Gus is genuine and well defined. I always think the Holmes-watson dynamic is poorly explored or explained inbmost shows, wirh the exception of House. Because Hilmes is always some psychopath type it never really makes sense that he creates thoa bond with watson. And often it is nevwr shown or gone through at light apeed. In psych their relationship is the show, so a huge amount of time is devoted to it.
I enjoyed Elementary's spin on the Holmes-Watson dynamic, and I'd say Miller is my favorite take on a literal Holmes character. Elementary I can rewatch, and it's still great.
Still, it's not as good as Psych. Obviously, Psych is more of a buddy-duo comedy and Elementary a more serious drama/mystery. Both great, but Psych is the best.
I am completely in love with Psych. I consider it one of the best investigation/comedy series, exactly for the reasons you mentioned. Anyone who hasn't watched it should, they are missing out on a great show.
On a similar note, if we are going to talk about Sherlock, I recommend watching the series Elementary. To me, it is the best adaptation of Sherlock, with the character Sherlock, exactly for the reasons you point out.
Someone wrote this on CZcams once:
"Here (Elementary), not everything revolves around Sherlock Holmes. Here, he isn't the sole reason the story exists. Here his brilliance isn't the be-all and end-all. Here, he learns to appreciate other people rather than labelling them all as idiots. Here he is capable of kindness. Here he is forced to acknowledge his failings, to admit others have something to teach HIM. And it all starts with his drug addiction, which isn't glamourized, or depicted as a super power for his work, but truly presented as the disease it is."
Psych and monk are two of my all time favorite shows. I grew up watching monk with my whole family, but I Remember the day my brother came home and put on psych for the first time. The second episode with the spelling Bee, and Shawn saying “BA-NA-NA” into the intercom was so hilarious to me as a little kid! Been a massive fan ever since!
Yess!! So glad more people are talking about this connection ❤❤❤
Love this, and also love talistheintrovert's video on this as well.
This is my favorite show, I still go back and rewatch it. But it’s crazy how few people have seen it.
So glad to find someone actually talking about this show. Psych always has been and will be in my top 10 shows of all time
Psych is one of my all time favorite shows. I cant think of a better on screen duo in a television show than Shawn and Gus.
Any time someone recognizes Psych for the beautiful show it was, it heals my soul. 💛 While I had my gripes with some of the later seasons, I genuinely don’t think I’ve watched a show more complete and competent than this. The casting department did an absolutely incredible job putting together the principle cast; combined with the snappy writing, they made something special. I haven’t watched the whole show in many years, but I regularly come back to favorite eps like Spellingg Bee, American Duos, Bollywood Homicide, Lights Camera Homicidio, the Musical… man, I could just keep going. 😆 What a delight. Thank you for making this video!
(As a side note, the community around Psych was always so great to interact with. I made friends thirteen years ago because of this show who are still my friends to this day, and for that I’m extra grateful.)
Awesome vid! I loved Psych and still do 🙂
“Psych” is the one show that my family can agree to watch; whenever we’re having trouble deciding what to watch we just throw on our favorite Psych episode. In particular, our family rewatches “Lights, Camera… Homicido” an absurd amount.
That a MASTERFUL analysis! 10/10.
I love this show, I wish it was talked about more! I’m glad you talked about it 😊
This show is one of my favorites of all time and doesn’t get talked about enough!
The writing was awesome. The dialogue between Shawn and Gus is great and the way they played off each other was quite funny. The constant nods to the 80s is also fun. They also based a lot of shows off previous 80s classics. Dual Spires/Twin Peaks; Bueller/Ferris Bueller; Last Night Gus/Hangover just to name three. And they brought in some of those 80s actors. For example, the actors from the Breakfast Club, except Emilio Esteves, made it on to a show. Really good stuff and thought out really well. Sure we’ve seen it all before but Psych spun the story so well it felt fresh. Absolutely love the show and watch it all the time.
I used to rewatch all my Tivo’d psych episodes again and again back in the day.
I rewatch Psych at least once a year, it's one of my "comfort" shows. I always guessed it was overlooked because of the lighter tone and comedic elements that are admittedly goofy and sometimes over the top.
FINALLY THIS SHOW IS MENTIONED!! I've watched this show so much (as much as the secondhand embarrassment can get to me). I've never seen anyone on youtube talk about the show (or at least i did see it come up on my recommended).
jeez, i need to watch more videos on Psych
Psych is such an underrated show! Always glad to see it get some recognition. :)
I was just thinking about Psych the other day and saw this video! Gonna rewatch
Psych is great. It's been my favorite show for almost 15 years now. I remember seeing commercials for it during the few episodes of Monk I watched years ago. So Psych got me into actually watching the entirety of Monk, another great USA show, and it got me into Magnum P.I., which has now been another one of my probably top 3-5 favorite shows of all time.
Great observations. Great video.
Also, I never watched Sherlock season 4.
I've watched Psych from Day 1! I remember them advertising it while watching Monk, I love it so much. My wife logged into a call as Burton Guster and I knew she was the one
We just watched the entire series yet again streaming. What I love most about Psyche is the amazing chemistry all the actors/characters have, but also how interesting and complete all the side characters are. Lassie and Jules are full people with personalities, stories of their own, and each has a real impact on the series and Shawn. There is also great character development through the show for each of the characters, not just the main ones. Relationships and people grow over the series run.
Every time i see a video mention Psych i have to like and comment on it ahah!
It is very much like an hidden gem, in my country its not even available to see anywhere.
The only "problem" that i have with the show is that even if the last 3 seasons of psych are very much experimental and cool to watch, im still a bit upset that they did "Stupified" Shawn too much, so i usually only rewatch seasons 1 to 5. (With a few exceptions)
Also i feel you for Sherlock S04, the show was cancelled for me after that season.
This show is absolute perfection! And, yes, it's the perfect version of Sherlock. I don't hold a solid Top 10 Shows list, it changes based on mood, but this Top 3 of all time.
9:26 I don't know why by the sharp cutoff of the "No!" absolutely sent me.
Psych is one of those once in a lifetime shows. It has everything, and it executes it so well.
Psych became my favorite show in 06 and has been my favorite show ever since. It's just done so well and it has always baffled me it wasn't more popular. I think that was part of it's appeal though imo
Amazing video! One thing I will say is Mr. Yin and Yang are the Moriarty characters. Despereux is Irene Adler :)
This is one of my all time favorite shows. The chemistry that Shawn and Gus has was magical and quite hilarious
In addition to probably the best Holmes/Watson chemistry the entire supporting cast in Pysch is amazing. Lassie being the straight man for Shaun to mock, Juliet as the romantic interest, Woody as a character you just can't explain, and other were all very well integrated and used by the show.
I audibly yelled "FUCK YES" when i saw this video, psych is way to good for how little its talked about it. Ive watched the show multiple times and ill never stop, its one if my comfort shows like rvb or sao abridged. My friends now this show because i recommend it at every chance.
Oh nice! Thanks for checking out the vid!
1) you missed what a great ensemble cast aspect there was. Everyone was great - and most could sing and dance well too 2) PINEAPPLES 🍍 !!!! You forgot making the audience find the hidden pineapples!!!!!!
Definitely check out Talistheinteovert for a huge breakdown of the ensemble cast moments! You'd love it ❤❤
lol this is the second video I’ve seen on this topic. I still enjoy it
I never realized Psych (or House) were Sherlock Holmes parallels. I love Psych this just adds to that.
Love this show!!!
I recently learned an interesting coincidence with the House - Sherlock comparisons.
Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about other characters before Sherlock Holmes.
One of them was a doctor (doing detective stuff) by the name of Hugh Lawrence (so close).
im always here for psych praise!!
Psych definitely one of my favorites!
Such a fun show
Damn never been this early to a 10k video. Love your content
