  • How To Sprout Mung Beans
    Ingredients:
    • 1/2 Cup Mung Beans
    • Water
    Utensils:
    • A Container With A Lid (Vented) Or A Dish
    • A Plate / Tea towel
    • Strainer / Colander
    Method:
    1. Take your mung beans, remove any broken beans or stones, rub and rinse the beans twice or until the water runs clear.
    2. After 10 hours, drain all the water using a strainer and rinse it well. Drain any excess water by letting the strainer sit inside a dish for 2 minutes.
    3. Transfer the mung beans into the container or a dish that you want to sprout the mung beans in.
    4. Cover it loosely with the lid and keep the vent open. If the lid does not have a vent then leave a small gap . You can also partially cover it with a plate or even use a tea towel.
    5. Leave it on the bench top away from sunlight and let it sprout.
    6. On day 1 of sprouting, it has started to grow and have little shoots on them. Transfer them in a colander, rinse it well and let excess water drain off for 2 minutes.
    7. After 2 minutes, rinse the container, transfer the beans back into the container, loosely cover it and let it continue to sprout.
    8. On day 2 of sprouting, the shoots have become longer and I am happy with the length. My sprouted mung beans are ready but if you want longer sprouts then rinse it again, drain excess water off, put it back in the dish and let it continue to sprout until your desired length.
    9. You can store the sprouted mung beans in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
    10. To use the mung beans, rinse it with hot water and you can use it in salads or you can make curry.
    11. Enjoy.
