I heard Scott's only doing so because the fans at being demanding. He was ready to let go after FNaF 4, saying that he was satisfied after making up for FNaF 3, but the fans kept asking him to finish the lore. He then decided to make other games, each focusing on another chunk of the storyline.

@SuperE3333 Nothing. This video was made before they officially announced Security Breach's full title, so MatPat predicted that it would be called Into Madness and would be released in 2020, neither of which came true. I just used the power of hindsight to poke fun at it, haha.

1985 was originally mentioned as the missing children's incident in the FNAF Silver Eyes series. Scott brought it back, most likely, to show how it's the incident.
But the missing children's incident must have been the first event in the timeline because Chica said in UCN that she had "seen everything". I think this may be more likely to be the FNAF 2 murders because remember, Phone Guy was recorded, meaning the murders could have been earlier (maybe 1985) that also explains why the pizzeria is decorated for a birthday party throughout the entire week even though according to phone guy, the party was going to be after the murders just before the pizzeria shut. The FNAF 2 murders also have the bodies lying out for everyone to see, as shown in the SAVE THEM minigame. And it also explains why the withered animatronics are possessed during the 5 nights because Charlie was believed to have been killed during the fnaf 2 investigation. But the puppet couldn't have given life to the kids if she wasn't possessed yet. I think the murders (in 1985) weren't what caused the place to shut down, but the bite of 87 two years later. Charlie was also never killed alongside the other kids. It's been made very clear she was killed outside during a murder investigation.
I'm probably not correct, but it just doesn't seem right for the MCI to happen that late, especially since crying child must have seen something, and there is 100% a tuft of hair in the golden freddy suit in FNAF 4, meaning the MCI must have started before 1983.
