Out in the Country
And Never Been to Spain!
Appreciate that this guy reviews all these songs!
Out in the Country really shows their beautiful harmonies 🎵🎶
You got that right!!
Also written by Paul Williams
Yes, my fav!
Oh wow I love that one! 😀
Three Dog Night has a great catalog. Worth diving into!
Three Dog Night had 3 great vocalists and they get a lot of well-deserved attention. But the 4 men in the rhythm section were outstanding musicians and deserve much credit for the sheer smoothness and quality of the band's overall sound.
Great band. Chuck , Cory, danny.mike allsup guitar.jimmy greenspoon keyboard.should be in the rrhf.
Every time I hear songs from these guys it transports me to my youth, junior high and high school. They had so many hits and tended to be almost as diverse as the Beatles. They generally didn't write their hits but they always managed to make them their own. And they had one hell of a great band backing them.
Out in the Country! Please!
Ah! Dang! You Have to see this one live!!!
I love watching young people discover old cool music
Three Dog Night might well be the best cover band of all time. Their thing was finding deep cuts (or minor hits) from other bands and songwriters and putting them on the charts. Top notch musicianship in the band (they could play anything) and three vocalists all capable of delivering great lead vocals and smokin' harmonies. One of my very favorite 70's bands!
Three dog night is such a great band. I think you would love many of their songs but I haven’t seen anyone react to “Eli’s coming “. I really enjoy your reactions
He dud react to a great live version of it.
Oh wow! I love Three Dog Night! The first 45 I ever bought was Shambala. One of my all time favorite songs is Never Been To Spain and one of my fondest childhood memories-swinging upside down on the monkey bars singing "Jeremiah was a bullfrog. Was a good friend of mine" at the top of my lungs (Joy To The World). I guess I would say it would be one of my most embarrassing memories too, after I grew up enough to understand some of the lyrics, which I also sang at the top of my lungs at the ripe old age of 6. Add Black and White, Celebrate, Mama Told Me, Liar, The Show Must Go On, One, I Can Hear You Calling and you have a great hour or so of music
" Never Been to Spain" great jam ✌️♥️
When a cover version becomes more famous than the original.
Original was by Paul Williams great singer/songwriter also did some acting.
Thanks for the heads up about the original. I don't remember hearing it before, but I'm glad I did: czcams.com/video/Wgf3tiOLV7I/video.html
I think I still prefer the TDN cover, but the original pretty solid too. A funny thing about both versions is the reoccurring "three part harmony" bit. TDN has seven members and Paul Williams was just one, but I believe his had some layering with his own voice.
Paul Williams wrote many many songs that became hits for others.
Paul Simon just did it too funky. TDN had the fire
Yes, the wonderful Paul Williams who also wrote the Carpenters' hit, "Rainy Days and Mondays."
Just gotta love them. I was born in 66 my brother is 9 years older so I was around all this kind of music. It's just imprinted on me.❤️
Another favorite of mine by Three Dog Night is Pieces of April. It has a beautiful melody.
One of my favorites of theirs. Their live video is so good on this one. Shows their personalities a lot.
Mine too. This and Never Been to Spain
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 Honestly all their songs are my favorites.
They have such fun personalities on stage.
Yeah, I think Chuck tried to kick Danny at the end when he was singing “just an old fashion love song”. It was hilarious 🤣
Three Dog Night took nicely written songs and made them unique and great! They were masters at it, and they ruled the charts for several years straight. Their “One” was the first album I ever bought. Very soulful, with outstanding covers of “Try a Little Tenderness”, “Heaven Is In Your Mind”, “Nobody” and of course, Nilsson’s “One”, which they turned to gold! Definitely a band you want to dig deeper into. If you want soulful and raw, anything from their first album and into their 2nd “Suitable For Framing”. Floyd Snead does a drum solo called “King Solomon’s Mines” you might want to check out. “Celebrate” has the Chicago brass section in the background. Their later albums were a little more subdued and smooth, but still very enjoyable. “Out In the Country” is one of the most beautiful recordings ever, IMHO. Keep up the good work, my friend!
This is one of my favorite 3 Dog Night songs!
Also check out " Lighthouse - Sunny Days" Reminds me of laying on the beach tanning and listening to good music
Three Dog Night was my first concert as a teenager!
Chod, thanks for the Three Dog Night reaction! 😎 You really need to do a live version of one of their songs, they’re great!!!!! ☮️🖤🤟
3 Dog Night was all over the radio and TV back in the early seventies. Three very talented lead singers and the band to back them up put out hit after hit. Their live performances, here on CZcams, are a thing to watch. Jesus hair, Yes I had that hair style back in '72 or '73. Also had the platform shoes and bell bottoms as well.
Really need to do the live version. You will love it
"Sure As I'm Sitting Here", is great, "Shambala" is still my favorite, "Liar" was different, as was "One", "Brickyard Blues" is good, and "Black And White" called out the world to
look on the inside, not the outside, to learn about each other.
Brickyard is my deep cut favorite.
Shambala❤️
Always 1 of my top 5 songs of all time. Get that hair dude.
The writer of this song (Paul Williams) is the guy who introduced America - You Can Do Magic - in your video from a few days ago.
Incredible band
You won’t be disappointed over and out
Three Dog Night used a Hammond B3 organ, the most iconic organ used in rock and soul. Paired with two 2-speed Leslie speaker cabinets, what an unbeatable, signature sound. I consider Jimmy Smith one of the very best organists of all time. An example of a really great B3 solo on a rock song is Green-Eyed Lady by Sugarloaf. That song is one that needs to be done by people doing reactions. Thanks. Good work. Lovin' the B3.
Gosh, I figured I was close. Jimmy can't be out keyed.
Jimmy Greenspoon
One of my favorite songs love them
“Never Been to Spain” doesn’t have a live performance, but “Shambala” and “Celebrate” do. I recommend all 3
Never Been to Spain is one that gets stuck in my head when I hear it. Is that wrong?
Celebrate, One, Joy to the World, Mama told me not to come, Never been to Spain, are MUST hears. very popular group of very late 68-69 and into 70's.
The keyboardist, used an electronic keyboard as well as a slide bar organ. He went from one to the other. Jimmy Greenspoon, the keyboardist, has since passed away, well as Cory Wells. They are a very underrated group. Should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
There is a version of this that is typically played on XM Radio, and it features a very complex, vaudevillian/tin-pan alley style vocal break before resuming the chorus toward the outro. It's hard finding this version. I'm not sure if it's an album cut or a special radio edit, but if you can listen to it you'd be impressed. It's only a small addition to the entire song, but it adds to an already amazing experience!
Chod....I don't know why you never take any of my requests! Please play "Out In The Country" next by THREE DOG NIGHT! It's a perfect song for the beginning of Summer...Thanks 👍
Liar would be a great one for you to tackle, just for the story of how the lead vocal was recorded.
It’s one of those old old fashioned keyboard. I forget what it was called.Only a few bands them, back in the day!
This song was written by song writer Paul Williams, he also performed it.
joy to the world
I loved these guys
In 1971, Three Dog Night played a concert near our vacation home in the Poconos.
At 3 a.m., I heard them break into "Joy to the World." The concert venue was 3 miles away!
Three Dog Night/The Show Must Go On ALBUM VERSION. From the album Hard Labor.
I giggled when I saw the title of this song. Recently you reacted to America and Paul Williams introduced them in the begging of the video. I made a comment that he was also a song writer. Guess what. He wrote this song.
Floyd Chester Sneed on drums. Still with us at 78.
NEVER BEEN TO SPAIN OUT IN THE COUNTRY
You won’t be disappointed you won’t be disappointed
Three Dog Night, Never Been to Spain!
Could not click fast enough. Yassssss. Have been patiently waiting for more Three Dog Night. Out in the Country is probably my favorite, but they have so many great songs. If you want love songs, get back to Bread, please!
Thank you sister...Out in the Country may just be my favorite 3DN song.
Three Dog Night/One studio version
If you're reacting to TDN you have to do Black and White.
YES!
Freedom for the Stallion....Going in Circles...
Three Dog Night - Shambala - Mama told me - Black and White
💗💗💗3 dog night
Pieces of April, Easy to be Hard, and Out in the Country.
My favorite Three Dog Night songs are Chest Fever and Heaven Is On Your Mind.
Written by the very talented Paul Williams.
A self fulfilling prophesy.
"The Show Must Go On"
Pieces of April is also a beautiful song to react to!
You ROCK
Fender Rhodes piano 🎹. Extremely popular with bands in the 70's
Great trio with each one a lead singer in their own rights!
Jimmy Greenspoon, the Keyboard player, used a Hammond B3
Love this. Still have my Three Dog Night albums from back in the day. Never Been to Spain and Shambala are my favorites, but Liar, One, and other tracks are so good as well.
You have just barely scratched the surface of Three Dog Night. Lots of folks are going to suggest Shambala, Joy To The World, Black And White, etc, but one that gets very little play yet is a killer is Pieces Of April. If you like this, you'll like that... perhaps even love it
Three Dog Night was a great band! Top musicians all around. They are essentially a B-side cover band, taking songs and making them a hit.. Their best stuff is their live performances, because they don't miss live either!
I remember asking my Dad why the band was named that. He said it's an old saying. It's so freaking cold out it takes 3 dogs in bed with you to stay warm
Three Dog Night 'Let Me Serenade You'. You. Will. Love.
I think the keyboard played is their favored Hammond organ. Not sure which model, though… maybe a B3?
I have to admit that none of my friends back in the day thought Three Dog Night was cool. But when I listen to them now, it's obvious they wrote great songs.
CHOD, you need to react to the LIVE performances of Fleetwood Mac..... any song from "The Dance" (Their 90's concert tour). All the stars aligned, Their talent, the technology and the money for production. (The live TUSK performance was really special)
Good and funny comments Chod. Love this song. Verses are really beautiful, chorus is catchy. The Live version of this from their live album at the time is even better. I know people steer you toward studio versions first which is fine and I usually agree with that but check out the live version of this from their live album from this time called “Around the World with Three Dog Night”, it’s even better.
Great Song! Thank you for reacting to this song!
Cory wells, chuck Bergeron,Danny Hutton.jimmy greenspoon keyboard.mike allsup guitar.jimmy and Cory are gone.great drum session.they should be in the rrhf.
Just a great song. The Keyboard sounds and awful lot like an original Hammond B3 perhaps run through some type of effect pedal, or chorus or crunchy guitar amp, which Jon Lord in Deep Purple did quite a bit to give the organ that heavier sound.
Hey CHOD.... check out a one hit wonder group: "The Cutting Crew" - The song: " I just died in your arms tonight" Live performance at the Rockoplast 2007. A pretty good Live performance.
If you want an old song that we need today is Get Together by the Youngbloods. One of my very favorites. One hit wonder.
Definitely the "Jesus hair"
Lol lol
I remember when that song first came out I was 11 years old now we call these songs oldies I remember when I was younger my parents used to say all those songs are a bunch of crap there's nothing like the old music hair is 50 years later and there's real crappy music on the air I feel sorry for the kids in 50 years calling the crap today oldies music lol the thing is I love my parents type of music to that's when they had a lot of big band music I think the singers today don't really think about what they're saying in their music and the thing is everybody goes along with it they're all saying oh yeah that sounds pretty good yep that sounds good in reality it sucks and some singers try to sing old songs but they mess it up big-time especially when they try to turn big band music into rap or heavy metal I have a song request hits by Doris Day (Doris Day: If I Give My Heart To You) missing the good old songs
I really enjoy your reactions keep up the good work
sounds like a Hammond B3 or a Whirlitzer
DUDE! I came here with skepticism and wound up subscribing!
And I'm old. Check out where the phrase "three dog night" came from.
And there's a lot of underrated bands from the 60's & 70's.
Three Dog Night are among the gods of Rock n' Roll......I love them!!! I just get chills every time they sing. Check out the audio version of their "Woman." That song is FIRE!!!!!
Freedom For The Stallion- Three Dog Night
Three Dog Night/Pieces Of April studio version
You should watch live version of the song just an old fashioned love song, also do the song shambala by three dog night
Part of the key sound is distorted leslie.....a bit like Jon Lord of Deep Purple...
The show must g6 on
Ohh how this takes me back to my childhood. Great memories with this one. Just love 3 Dog Night.
Simple song sung simply. You can;t beat this or Three Dog Night!! Add to your list "Joy to The World" and
"Never Been To Spain"...These songs are even better. Enjoy!!
"Just an old fashioned love song" is one of my favorite Three Dog Night songs.I have been listening to their music from the very beginning.Love their sound."Easy to be Hard",is another really good one. Also "One",and "Pieces of April".
I recommend Try A Little Tenderness and Easy To Be Hard next by them if you have not already reacted to them.
Atlanta Rhythm Section, "Doraville" or "Angel". They are one of the most underrated bands! Great musicians!
Liar-- is a different sound for them, a little heavier
Great song!
The 1975 live version is so funny
Appreciate your page...3 Dog Night.. was never admitted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.. reason was stated .. they didn't write they're material.. but I think a bunch of southern boys didn't like Their tune " the world is black & white".
I doubt "Southern boys" have much influence over the RRHOF.
you need to watch the video for Black And White by Three Dog Night great song and Message thanks
And also react to the first class beach baby that’s a banger and Norman Greenbaum spirit in the sky and the Bay City rollers Saturday night
I learned to sing harmony to this 8 track in my parents van back in the 70's. Oh and who didnt have soul back in the day? Pat and Debbie Boone.
Check out Three Dog Night "One"
If you want soul from this band then
TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS is next.
A Motown cover. Cory kills it🔥🔥
