Gonna Confirm The DENON 5.2Ch AVR With PARASOUND Halo A 52+ (5Ch or 2Ch) Amplifier Also DEFINITIVE TECHNOLOGY DYMENSION DM30 For Centre, DM80 For Front Left/Right & DM70 For Rear Left/Right Finally DESCEND DN15 Boom boom yeah 🐖🐷
I really fall in love with your reviews so much 🫰
Gathering quiet knowledge on class a, b, ab, d, h, m and more amplifiers so much happy now because understanding matters 🥰😍🫶
Hey Shane
I remain a DEF TECH devotee to this day since I built out my system commencing 1997.
I have them old BP10s all around my 7.1 bed layer... (well with a CLR2002 as a a centre channel).
You're right about the WIDE Soundstage, ALL around. I hear sound as if there are phantom speaker arrays everywhere.
I even hear "depth" of soundstage well beyond my walls.
When I'm in a jungle I hear discreet tiger growls at EVERY angle of the bed layer compass. I also bought their 1200 watt Supercube2 sub.
In 2020 i finally completed the ATMOS layer off with 4 SVS Prime Elevation boxes. It matches well with Def Tech driver timbre.
Glad you were wowed by DefTech as well.
Cheers 🫡🫡
I appreciate and love all your reviews, shane. Been a fan for a long while. You specifically inspired me to make some reviews of different speakers myself. I hope you continue to do what you do and you and your wife have a healthy and prosperous life ❤.
🍻
Listening to this thru my 8060's and complementing cast! 7.2.4 style
Great video with solid detailed breakdown of these Def Techs.
Great review, as always. I understand the allure-I run a sub connected high level off my center, LR and surrounds. The extra oomph it adds is excellent. These speakers might appear more expensive up front but if you consider the added expense of extra subs (and the saved floor space since the woofers are built in) they represent a good value. And apparently sound great!
People are so conditioned with the 80hz crossover. When you hear near full range all around it's an ear opener.
@@therealshanelee So true. I actually have you to thank for introducing me to the concept with your first REL 3D video. I love it!
Great content Shane and thank you for creating. If you had these speakers and two SVS PB2000 Pro's, would you still set them up all as small?
czcams.com/users/live-AwK1lgM7tg?feature=share
This is the serotonin boost we all needed. Thank you for spreading joy!
Great job 👌😊
Great review, Shane. Did you do any 2-channel music listening? What were your thoughts, if so?
It's in another video.
I've always been a fan of Definitive Technology and my old home theater was filled with Def Tech speakers. These new ones looks cool and glad to know they still sounds great.
What do you have now?
@@therealshanelee After watching your old home theater tour a few years ago when you had Arendal speakers, I decided to purchased them and they're currently in my theater now.
@therealshanelee Hey Shane, do you still intend to review Definitive Technology's Descend subwoofers either a pair of DN12s or DN15s? Would be curious to know your opinions of them against the Goldenear subs that you've reviewed which are are also a passive radiator design :)
You need to review the BP9000 with line level inputs for bass from a direction subswoofer stereo out.
Great review, I recently upgraded to the DM70s and added 2 DN10s. Ran room correction with MultEQ and everything sounds amazing. I've been considering upgrading my current center (CS9040) to the DM20 or DM30. Do you think the subs in the DM30 are worth it if you have dedicated subs?
Worth it if you can make it work.
I just upgraded to the dm70s, dm30 and dual dn10's. Do you run the DN10's next to the towers? Also what do you have your crossover set to for the towers and DN10's together?
@@tcamm9812 you could run the DN10's next to the towers but due to them being bi-polar I found they have a very wide soundstage which provides more placement options. For my setup I ended up placing the DN10s on both sides of my TV where the DM70s were originally placed and moved the DM70s close to corners of the room towed inward. This resulted in the most immersive experience. Regarding my crossover settings, I have the DM70s set to large (full range) and cutoff for the DN10s at 100Hz. With this config everything will play well together but to take it to the next level I highly recommend using MultEQ-X. This will allow you to define how much LFE you're sending to the DM70s in addition to the built-in intelligent bass control and further adjust the DN10s to really dial in your bass.
@@therealshanelee thanks for the recommendation, huge improvement. Calibrated with MultEQ-X and demoed The Greatest Showman for my wife, she told me it sounded like Hugh Jackman was in our living room. And the Swedish nightingale scene ... 🥂🍻
How do they compare to the Bp 8060st
@therealshanelee You can actually get an infinitely adjustable bi-polar setting on the Dymension DM-80 (the flagship model). They can be bi-amped with separate amps for front and rear speakers and adjust the volumes for the front and rear separately. You might have to add a MiniDSP to make the adjustments if your receiver or pre-pro is not capable of bi-amp outputs.
Great to see see Def Tech getting some love here, Shane. I went for a very clean all in-wall RLS II (LCR), RSS (surround and surround back), and 4 DI 8R Atmos in my dedicated theater. The sound quality is fantastic, but these powered options are very appealing in the right room. Would love to hear a demo of these in person and consider them for another set up.
Sounds like a great system 👍👍
I’m sure you reviewed them both but I don’t see a video for them?
These speakers seems perfect for Imax Enhanced which is mixed for fullrange speakers
What was the center channel crossover set at during your demos?
Full range.
Still have bp3000tls, cs3000, and bpvx/p surrounds! The mid drivers only 5.25"?
Do the smaller 5.25" mid drivers hurt these? Seems to be the case on a lot of speakers in this price range these days.
@@battousai412 For whatever reason Def Tech seem to have an aversion to employing larger drivers than 5.25" they should get on board like other manufacturers that use 6.5" & 8" drivers, I guess their argument is that they utilise a powered subwoofer with bass radiators but it's a cost-cutting measure having smaller cabinets & smaller drivers & their powered subs with under-powered amplification :(
Fantastic review Shane, I was wondering if you'd be open to reviewing Def Tech's Descend subwoofers? Possibly a pair of Descend DN12s or DN15s or are they deemed too cheap & unworthy of your home theater ;)
I’m sure at some point I’ll get them in.
@@therealshanelee🙌
Thanks for the review! I have a BP9060 and a CS9060, i want more punch for the system, would you add a REL S/812 for LFE and High level for the BP9060s??
To get lower in Hrz and more power with this subwoofer.
Thanks agarin
Check out their 15" sub
amzn.to/3RmpB5X
I have the bp8060s and the 8080 center channel and 4 in wall DF
Sweet!
Excellent in-depth review 👍👍
Thanks Shaner 🤔🍻
@@therealshanelee Yep, the “r” on the end makes it look weird for sure. My first name is Shane just like yours. R is my last name initial. Thanks again for all the great content.
I'm very happy with my older BP series. Maybe I'll upgrade one day
Do it now! 😁😉
I own 16 brand new Dymension series and my god!!!! its sharp, like really sharp
🤑🤑
@@therealshanelee dude. I seriously need to do a video. I also had the old 9000 series. I work in the industry so I got a hefty discount too.
@@reggiemurphy7028 I’m well aware of those discounts 😁😉
@@therealshanelee 😉😉
Do you think three of the DM30s under a projection screen would work well?
As long as it's not sitting on the floor.
@@therealshanelee Oh yeah, never! They would be on stands. Did you find the horizontal dispersion to be good? I have seats on both sides of the screen about 45 degrees off axis.
@@1165mac yes it's fine. That's not a drastic angle for it to make a difference. If your looking to buy one let me know.
@@therealshanelee I'm in the auditioning phase and am currently using three of the Magnat Ultra LCR 100-THX. Have you heard these? I'm pretty impressed and could probably settle on them, but would hate to miss out if I'm able to get something significantly better for not much more money. My home theater is is my open concept living room. Using an Epson 4K projector and 115" 2.35:1 projection screen, a Marantz receiver, three Outlaw monoblocks for LCR, two RSL Speedwoofer 10s subwoofers and two Fluance surround speakers. Main viewing area is about 13 feet from the screen and speakers. I'm interested in these DM30s, as well as the Bowers and Wilkins CT7.4 LCRS. I watched your review on these. Accessories4Less has the DM30s at $799 each and the CT7.4s at $899 each. Also looking at the Ascend Acoustics Sierra Horizon V2. Everything I've heard about Ascend is amazing, but have never heard one. This speaker may best the other choices I've listed, but don't really want to spend $1,348 each if the upgrade is minimal. I'm interested in high quality audio (at both normal and kick-ass volumes), but I'm not analyzing every note as a true audiophile might. My intake is about 75% movies and 25% music. Thank you for any recommendations, Shane! I enjoy your reviews immensely.
Wow, Shane. You love these things. What a strong endorsement. Great review.
👍👍
Just as soon as I had my mind made up on doing 1723s monitors all around and 1723 heights, now I have Def Tech to think about.
8 inch sub in the center channel. Never knew i needed that 😂
We all need it 💪
I always loved def tech since my days at Best Buy I have the cs9080 center now with d9 rears and st mythos flagship and it sounds amazing and love the power center and built in sub makes a big difference. I’m still rocking the pro 800 in the bedroom which is a great setup to.
I used to work at BB and never gave them much thought. I probably should have.
@@therealshanelee ya I used sell a lot of them, them and Martin Logan’s where always my favorite to demo with and sell people
Hi Shane! I have an old Bipolar speakers from the late 90's which is Energy Audissey A5+2 with a built in subwoofer similar to Def Tech but this year it's stop working . I'm planning to buy a new speaker system from Def Tech which you just demo or Arendal Speaker 1723 THX that you made famous. Which one do you think will be a better choce? Also got 2 Rel's 1508 Predator 3years ago after watching your video. Please help. Thank you in advance!
Those are great subs. I’m now a big fan of the Def Techs which I’m sure would sound similar to your Energy’s. I also like the center better than the Arendal center. If you like what you have and want similar but better then stick with DT. If you want to try something totally different then Arendal.
@@therealshanelee I'll stick with Def Tech since I like Bipolar bigger horizontal soundstage and also you said that you like there center speaker better the Arendal. Thank you so much Shane😀
@@edwinabuel324 keep me posted on how you like them. Or shoot me an email if you need help getting a pair.
@@therealshanelee Sure . I will.
Too funny Shane the looks while talking about the center speaker.
😂
Awesome!
I love my 9040 towers and centers. Best speakers I’ve ever owned.
Underrated speakers.
@@therealshanelee very. I’m definitely going to look into adding another pair as surrounds
Wouldnt that bass from the those speakers muddy the bass from actual stand alone sub woofers when mixed as a ht set up?
Measurements and calibration.
With proper set up (especially room calibration built into most receivers and processors), no. Not Inherently. If these speakers are clean, and the sub is clean and phase is set up correctly you’d be fine.
My only concern is these being self powered.... How long will the amp last, say 10 years?
Good question.
I've owned Definitive Technologies BP7001sc and the center channel CLR 3000 since 2004. No issues with the powered subs. Only had to change the fuse on the BP7001sc's at some point. Easily done by myself. I love Def Tech since I first heard them at an audio show in the 90's. They make any room sound bigger than it is. And very clean and clear for music and movies.
Def tech owned the 90’s great speaker
I was too poor to afford them back then. They did look awesome.
Cool
I still have and use 5 CLR 2002.
Nice!
I own the DM50s but I can't use them until 2025-2026 when my room is done being built 😭😭
This vs the Martin Logan f20 and c10…go! 😂
🤔🤷♂️
