    Thank you MD~! I'm working on a 1981 CM400A with the secondary carb overflowing thru the drain line. I took everything apart and will clean like you suggested. The needle valves had witness rings on them and 1 of the floats had liquid in it. Hopefully they were the issues as the bike started and runs fine. One other observation was my carb didn't have the o ring that seals the accelerator pump fuel bowl orifice to the carb body orifice. I noticed some accelerator pumps kits have the O-ring and some do not, any idea which is correct?

    When you measure a drill, measure the "lips" of the drill (the two points that do the cutting, at tip, before taper) thats the widest point of drill. Source- am machinist

    A nice compact video.
    So Cody, as you mentioned in this video, how would you replace a seat in the carb if you suspect it is worn? What is your source for obtaining reliable parts?
    And is there an alternative resource for detailed repair manuals besides the virtually worthless Clymer books?

    As a matter of interest can you get those float valve seats out to replace them. If so what's the best way.

      Never heard of someone doing such a task and it working. Also have never seen where someone sourced the parts to do it. But I suppose with a lathe, some brass and a sharp eye anything is possible.

    Hi, I have a Honda CM400C, and there is a problem starting the motorcycle after it has been sitting for a week. If I turn it on every day there is no problem. The starter turns the engine but it doesn't turn on easily (with or without choke) finally it turns on. what could be the problem ?

    • @TheMotorcycleMD
      @TheMotorcycleMD  Před rokem +1

      Sounds like a pretty normal carbureted bike to me! You may not actually have any problem! Try full choke, full throttle on starting and feather the throttle once she fires up.
