"The Cooler" will change the way you do card magic.
Vanishing Inc. is pleased to announce the release of the most coveted and praised deck switcher in... well, ever. The testimonials speak for themselves: David Blaine, Paul Wilson, Rene Levand, Dani DaOrtiz, and on and on and on. They use it, love it, and swear by it. Christian Engblom's "The Cooler" is about to change the way you do card magic.
The perfect deck switcher is the holy grail for card workers. It allows you to get into and out of memorized deck, gaffed work, stack work, or to change the back design. It is the "missing link" between otherwise incompatible card routines.
But deck switches are normally difficult. Many involve lapping or being seated. Others require a jacket with secret pockets sewn in. Some even involve bizarre contraptions that come from your sleeve. Because of this, most magicians just opt not to switch decks. A pity, really.
The Cooler fixes this. It happens in plain sight, it is totally self-contained in the card box, and can be done standing, without a jacket or sleeves. You can customize this durable, precision-made plastic gimmick to any box of cards, and you can execute the switch in the hands or on the table. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
"The most beautiful deck switch I have ever seen."
    - David Blaine
    "Where can I get one?"
    - Rene Lavand
"If this damn thing were any Cooler, it would be frozen!"
    - Max Maven
"The best deck switch I have NEVER seen!"
    - Wayne Dobson
This is not a trick or a fleeting trend. "The Cooler" is a tool, and we believe it will become an industry standard for years to come. A dozen top card men have been privy to prototypes of Christian's remarkable invention for the last five years. Finally, they are available for wide release.
The gimmick works with any Poker-sized deck (add your own box design/color to it)
Complete with DVD instruction by Christian Engblom and Dani DaOrtiz
Takes practice, but not incredibly difficult to do

I kept this a secret insider deck switch for 7 years. I released it, to the fraternety, last year. I used it, as did my friends, for years, and it never leaked/or was compromised. So not so obvious...
My greatest testimonial is that I myself WAS BADLY FOOLED BY THE COOLER, just a few weeks ago. It happened at Genii 75th Bash, in Orlando, and the culprit was none other than Tom Stone of Sweden. Not only did he get me, but about 800 of the top people in our industry.

That Paul Harris quote is hilarious.

So basically the box (previously under is hollow from bottom and has all cards in it (like a covering. When he picks up the box as well as the cards on top, you are only left with the cards inside the box (which remained on table as the box is hollow from bottom).

They are exposing it on purpose, hence the slow motion. This would be a great deck and box transpo, deck through box, and a deck switch. The deck never leaves the table, all you do is just grab the deck and it has switched it is brilliant!

Only if you were to tell people that you were going to make a deck switch, and not use any misdirection, could they have a chance to comprehend, what they were witnessing.
But, that is not how we perform magic, now is it ?

Just to make it clear I don't think this is that bad just I didn't think it was deceptive enough to merit the use of a gimmick and I think that sleight of hand is just as good :)

You're right about the secret. But people can't make the gimmik at home!
Best way is to buy it.

There is always going to be a discrepancy when attempting a deck switch. To use a purely sleight of hand way you have got to create a reason for going to wherever the cooler is stored, be it a pocket or what not, before you can execute the switch, then you need to actually get around the fact there are two decks visible to an observer, then you have to ditch the old deck, again you need to create a reason for your hand to go to somewhere, (i.e, a pocket again)

    Two things though:
    1. When you pick up a deck of cards from anywhere unless you have decent patter/misdirection people willl more than likely look at your hands. They have no reason not too, and then they could catch what is happening.
    2. Secondly if you really do do it on the off beat and people are misdirected then why even use a gimmick? There are lots of ways of doing it by sleight of hand that are not even that hard, so if it is truely on the off beat then why not just use sleight of hand.

  • @Arkesus
    @Arkesus Před 11 lety

it's not an effect, it's an act of subterfuge. You do it on the off beat.

Hey guys, you're weird! If a trailer shows not enough, you complain. If a trailer shows too much, you complain. You should feel happy, because now you know EXACTLY what you get, and how it looks without any "in the middle of the act" video cutting. I hate it when a video shows nothing then you get the gimmick and are really dissappointed. But somehow I think there's a lack of logic in this move..
