    The new xTool S1 laser is a game changer. Truly. It has all the features and bells and whistles of an expensive CO2 laser at half the cost. The versatility of switching out laser heads for different materials, the power for cutting and precision for engraving. Safety features galore to allow you to use it in your home and vent the fumes outside or to an air purifier. The lid also eliminates the need for glasses and there’s built in fire sensors. So many accessories like the rotary attachment (RA2Pro) and automatic conveyor are also compatible with the S1. This video gives an overview of the machine as well as a bunch of product ideas I did over the course of a week. Check out my other videos to learn more about how to make money with a laser, making signs, curved surface engraving, and more.

    Great video. Just got delivery of the 20W S1 & your in depth review & the materials it can cut & engrave were super invaluable. Also demonstrating the simple setup of the test files in xcs was great. Thanks & I’ve subscribed & can’t wait to see other videos of yours.

    Awesome, thank you. Just a question, how do you set the images for a 360 engraving? Do you put the image in the middle of the tumbler or do you put the image on the starting point with the remaining outside of the tumbler's position?

    Hey Nick, do you happen to have a video or can you make a video for us explaining the different types of glues you might use to glue up different materials to one another? For example, if I would want to mix wood with leather, wood with acrylic or leather with metal. Just throwing example materials out there haha. I don't even know if you could glue some of these together. Hence why I'm curious to get an experts view & go to glues, on this.
    Also, can you make a video using the conveyor feeder? No pressure :)
    Thanks & hope all is well

    Hi, I read that you can make color on metal with a laser through oxidation. Like blues and pinks, ect. Do you know anything about that?

    • @deusprogrammer_thekingofspace
      @deusprogrammer_thekingofspace Před 20 dny

      It's called anodization. You do it using electrolysis. When you electrolize metal it causes an oxide layer to form. That layer is poreous and will accept special dyes to give the metal a color. A diode laser can strip away the oxidization and make it appear to be "engraved". If you use the infrared diode laser you can actually engrave metals.

    Thank you for the video! I have been having a hard time deciding on adding another laser to my shop. I currently have a 50W fiber laser. The tumblers you did look great. With my fiber laser, it is extremely difficult getting the settings right to ensure i dont engrave into the stainless under the powder coat. Between the P2/S1, which would you say does a better job on powder coated tumblers?

    • @SixEightWoodworks
      @SixEightWoodworks  Před 8 měsíci +2

      I haven’t done a ton. The four I’ve done on the S1 were great. I haven’t used the rotary on the P2 for tumblers, but have gotten good results without. But there’s a handful of P2 tumbler videos out there. I really am blown away by the S1 though. So no real difference as far as tumblers. But the option of the IR head for the S1, could help a bunch to clean up tumbler engravings. Will say the best results have been on the F1 with both diode and IR. But that is a bit smaller for full wraps.

      I just posted a new video showing how to engrave or etch certain metals with the xTool F1. If you want super deep engraving, you’d need a fiber laser. But the IR head on the F1 optional add on of the S1 get great results too.

    Great video! Never owned a laser before but considering getting one. Does not having the riser base and/or rotary tool significantly limit what you can cut and engrave?

    • @SixEightWoodworks
      @SixEightWoodworks  Před 5 měsíci

      Not at all. You can actually engrave curved surfaces with the S1 and P2 without a rotary. Riser base is only necessary for big items to engrave. Nice add ons, but not must haves. You can always add later if you feel limited.

      I haven’t yet. I’ve seen some people use the P2 with foam. I’d imagine it would work with a scoring setting. I’ve just been doing basic stuff with a box knife. But would be fun to try for sure!

    Hi again, Just been watching another of your videos where you used the xTool P2 laser to engrave cylindrical items without the rotary tool as it has the curved surface functionality. I believe the S1 20W has the same functionality so I don’t need to buy the rotary accessory for it, is that correct?

    • @SixEightWoodworks
      @SixEightWoodworks  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Definitely the P2. The power to easily cut thicker items, and any type of acrylic is the massive advantage. The camera is really accurate. Budget wise the S1 is amazing. But no comparison to the advantages of the 60w power of a CO2 laser with the P2.

    • @SixEightWoodworks
      @SixEightWoodworks  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I think they’re both pretty easy to maintain. Very user friendly. Just really comes down to what you’re hoping to make. If you plan on doing a fair amount of cutting, the P2 is the best and you won’t be as limited with thicker stock or acrylics. But the S1 is a great well rounded machine. I have another video comparing them a little more as well.

      so what im seeing is it has a tiny bit bigger bed by 1 inch, it can cut hard walnut almost 3/4 inch thick and it can do all this a little fast than S1 by a small amount. unless your a business that need to cut tons of stuff fast. then its not worth double the price. if you need to cut multiple stuff you can buy 2 S1 for the price of 1 P2. uless im missing something

    • @SixEightWoodworks

      Biggest difference is the power. P2 can cut all colored acrylic. Can handle thicker wood. It’s a bit bigger. It has the cameras; however the S1 positioning system is comparable. Honestly, unless I was planning on doing a lot of colored acrylic, I’d go with the S1. Massive savings and potential of adding the IR module is fantastic.

    OK, in this video, you say you love your P2. Before the S1 was released, I was going to buy the P2. Now that the S1 is out, I'm undecided. If you only had the room for one or the other, which one would you choose and why? By the way, I did win the 2w ir laser head from xTool on their luanch video of the S1, so I've got that kind of leaning me that way. But I want which one is best. I appreciate any help you can give me.. thanks.. JB..

    • @SixEightWoodworks
      @SixEightWoodworks  Před 8 měsíci

      I’d say the S1 because with the IR head, you have the versatility for more materials. The P2 is bigger and if you plan on doing a lot of different colored acrylic, that would be the route. Otherwise the S1 handles everything.
