Have you had some initial success with the ketogenic diet, but recently found that you’ve stalled, or even started gaining weight?
In this video, I’m going to cover the top 5 mistakes I have witnessed my clients make before working with me that was causing them to stall, and what you can do about them. Let’s get into it.
But first, I just want to let you know that along with creating super easy and delicious keto recipes and meal plans, I also work with people one on one to help you get to your goal weight, and learn how to maintain it long term.
It baffles me that nobody is talking about maintenance, as I think it’s possibly the most important part of any weight loss journey. If you’d like to work with me, there is a link to a book in time to chat with me down below. I don’t work with everyone, only people who I can see are really committed to change.
So let's go through some of the top 5 mistakes to see if you’re making them, and let’s go over how you might be able to change them to kickstart your journey again.

I personally struggle with "information over load". Who to follow and who to skip all together. I strugle to pull up and get excited about my weight loss "business" plan.

Research is key, but trying to piece together bits and pieces here and there usually results in giving up. Speak to someone who can give you a plan, and who can adjust that plan if times get tough!

Wow! I have fallen victim to all 5 of these keto mistakes. I love, love, love the food on keto but battle with the mindset that feels like I’m denying myself other foods I love ie bread. For the most part I’m a healthy eater but I don’t track and that’s where I fail to loose weight. This was such an informative video. Thank you so much for taking the time to share - #ketoreset

    Love your messages.
I am an 80 year old woman who has been keto for seven months. I never go on the scale but judge my progress by how my clothes fit ( now 2sizes smaller) and my energy level which has much increased. This is now a permanent lifestyle for me and the plus is that my family has eaten this way for years and now I fit in.

The keto as a life style is what gets me. I'm 300KG... I clearly need to lose weight and I do think Keto is the best option for me... but at some point in the future, I want to eat my favourite foods again... pasta, fish and chips, etc. It is disheartening to think about giving all that up permanently.

Easing off after I reach my goal weight is one I’ve definitely said! That said I’ve only been doing keto 4 weeks. I’ve lost 15lbs already, it feels surreal. Goal is 29-43lbs total. Higher would be nice but since I’m relatively short it might be too much of a loss for my frame so I won’t be upset if I have to switch to maintenance weight sooner.
My version of ‘easing off’ is letting myself switch that egg/meat salad for the occasional mini fruit salad and a planned dessert (GÜ gluten-free lemon cheesecake) once a month vs 3 times a year. And maybe some baking but with coconut sugar instead of erythritol because I’m one of the unlucky few who just seems to react really badly to it. Hey maybe I’ll even make my own mini cheesecakes?!
I’ll generally be keeping the clean eating and low carb but just not as low as it currently is. I swear I eat more veg now than I ever have. And salad?! I’m voluntarily eating leaves?! Granted I’m still getting used to the taste but this is helping me to get over so many texture aversions I have. I ate mushrooms?! It’s crazy, though I did have to mince them and stick them in with some onion, spinach and cream.. but I didn’t throw up consuming them like normally so I’m counting this as a solid win.
I know on maintenance macros I’m gonna have more than enough allowances for that odd fruit salad/monthly desert so I guess in a way that’s planned haha!
I’m currently doing the 20g net carbs version (20c-55.1p-105.2f-1285kcal). Sometimes it’s even hard to get the carbs above 5g with some of the choices I’ve made and I rarely make the fat unless I need to invent calories to get over 900kcal, trying to keep min above 1100kcal, don’t want this dangerously low. I’d rather slow and steady.
My diet is not majorly different from before aside from no added sugar/processed foods or snacking throughout the day. I have already been gluten-free for 8years now so on the whole it’s not a major leap either. Caffeine reduced since January for migraines. Been stacking up the changes incrementally so the sugar ditch wasn’t as bad as it could of been if I’d had to cold turkey everything.
Planning my meals is giving me so much less anxiety than I thought it would. If I’m not planning it, I feel lost but I am someone who does better when I keep a fairly consistent routine. I don’t get anything done if I don’t routine it - Filofax is glorious.
You are right on the whole ‘planning makes it feel not guilty’. I had my first planned higher carb treat yesterday, not an ounce of guilt and I was satiated less than halfway through and didn’t feel the need to continue. Pre keto I would of devoured one whole and likely moved onto the second in the same night! So now I’ve got the leftovers fitted into the rest of my planning nicely. Win win.
Found your carbonara recipe after buying some konjac noodles yesterday so definitely adding that to my list of things to make! It’s a family fave so it’s gonna be nice not to have to make the usual gluten-free white sauce for it and use cream instead!
Totally agree on the grass-fed meat/eggs thing. Definitely not a sustainable choice for me and I am looking to keep my changes and not yo-yo because grass-fed meat/eggs is out of budget. It’s great if you can but it’s also not the end of the world if you can’t. Working within your means for sustainable changes is the way to go.
Still newly subscribed and new to keto but looking forward to more of your videos and recipes! Sorry for the huge wall and thanks for reading if you made it to the end haha!

Big question! If you overeat carbs in a day, is it better or worse to follow up with more fats in that same day to get back into keto?

    • @Mark_Knight
      @Mark_Knight Před 3 lety +3

I am not Aaron but what I understand is you should NOT mix carbs and fat. My understanding is you should wait a next day to eat fats again, or eat carbs before a fast day.

there will be many different reasons, but the main one will be your energy balance.
